But do you know ANYONE in her early forties who looks like Demi Moore? I don't.

aloha · 15/10/2005 18:45

And sagging happens with or without sun exposure. My bum is a case in point!

Really? I mean, I'm a fairly well-preserved sort of 42 (albeit not as glamorous as Aloha) and I have wrinkles. Not massive crevices, but definite wrinkles. And so do pretty well all my mates - and as I say we are a presentable sort of bunch (if not all as glamorous as Aloha).

you know some of the more regular photos of demi caught just normally out and about, not dressed up for occasions, on the E website and you can see the aging in her face. lots of airbrushing going on and maybe botox for the day.

aloha · 15/10/2005 19:53

MI is a lot thinner than me!
But Kama you wait, when you are in your forties your face starts to sag and you do have lines. Demi Moore has hardly hidden from the sun all her life anyway!
What I meant is that even if you do stay out of the sun (and my bum has had very little sun exposure!) gravity and thinning collagen cause sagging and drooping anyway. She doesn't have ANY. She has had a facelift. Believe me, EVERYONE in Hollywood has surgery. You talk to any surgeon who works there and they will tell you. Why do you think celebs look so different to ordinary mortals? Why do you think Michelle Pfieffer looks so unchanged? Joanna Lumley, come to that.
They are subject to time like the rest of us.

codface · 15/10/2005 19:54

and as you get older yours kin loses it sheen iykwim

you cna be as thin as you like but your s kin ist a s fresh

aloha · 15/10/2005 19:56

God, it's horrific sometimes holding up your baby when you are looking in the mirror. The contrast! My God, the contrast!

Mog · 15/10/2005 19:58

And doesn't the sagging accelerate once you pass 40. It's quite scarey really because there's not a lot (barring surgery) you can do about it - hence my maronic obsession with buying creams.

codface · 15/10/2005 19:58

and ther reasliation that yes you do look tired like your mum

cupcakes · 15/10/2005 19:59

Ha, know just what you mean, aloha! My dd loves looking at us both in the mirror and I have to squint my eyes because I can't bear to look at the contrast. My skin never looks so red unless it's next to hers!

I know more about airbrushing than most Kama! I used to work on glossy magazines. I've airbrushed (or rather, photoshopped) the best of them.
It's hardly idolising a celeb to say they've had a facelift!
I know I'm right

expatinscotland · 15/10/2005 20:09

She's deffo had a boob job, at the least! Look at her in the early 80s in 'Blame It on Rio' or 'St. Elmo's Fire'. Then, she had this set of knockers, and that was before she had kids.

I agree w/aloha, one of my childhood friends (his folks are lifelong friends of my parents) is rising in the ranks on the production side. He's 28 and has already had some minor procedures.

Mog · 15/10/2005 20:11

What exactly is airbrushing - I've heard loads about it but don't really know what it is. And are these celebs quite good looking for their age before the airbrush, or do they look a bit tired and wan like the rest of us?

expatinscotland · 15/10/2005 20:13

It's pretty easy to do, Mog. I had a flatmate who was studying photography, and it's even easier to manipulate digital photographs.

For a good example of airbrushing, look at photies of Meg Matthews from about 3 years back when she posed in the altogether for a glossy who's name escapes me. Might have been W or Vogue.

Airbrush city!
