CBBC's Horrible Histories was the first ever children's show to win something at the British Comedy Awards when it won the Best Sketch Show category last night.

Brilliant news isn't it? DD spends ages playing on that website. I am tempted to watch it myself now...

GlynistheMenace · 23/01/2011 08:01

MarkStretch

you mean you don't already?

It's a fab programme, has me crying with laughter at the songs.

I insist we watch it with my daughter and she's highly suggestable only 3 yrs old and I hope she indulges her mother learns something from it too Grin

congratulations to all involved

I wonder if I'm alone in really enjoying watching one of the actors in particular. The skinny one, sang the lead in "The King of Bling" - anyone know his name?

"Stupid deaths, studid deaths" is now in my head.

Clytaemnestra · 23/01/2011 09:04

I thought it was totally well deserved, am thrilled that they got some recognition as its absolutley brilliant.

mercibucket · 23/01/2011 09:06

mmm also love the songs - ahve been known to play them at work Grin

pippibluestocking · 23/01/2011 09:30

I spent one evening over Christmas watching numerous HH sketches & songs on my laptop in bed, DC were in bed, it was great!

whingeomatic · 23/01/2011 09:36

I love Horrible Histories!!

I too now have Stupid Deaths going through my head (2yo dd2 does the dance with the thumbs up at the end Grin )

I like the Georgian Makeover Show and the Ready Steady Cook spoof...

And Stupid Deaths, of course...

Oh and the Inca(?)emperor song

Well done HH

Dillinger · 23/01/2011 09:37

Fab we love hh in this house Grin

gorionine · 23/01/2011 09:46

Just love HH. When DD1 started primary school I had no clue about English history (not from UK) so I borrowed them in the library for a crash course. I have never laughed so much reading about gruesome historical facts and am now up to date with The Terribles Tudors etc...

Glad they got an award! I loved the story of sandwiches in paricular and Stupid death is one of my favourite too!

DD4 sings the Boudica song a lot!

ThePosieParker · 23/01/2011 09:47

Bloody Brilliant

MrsChemist · 23/01/2011 09:52

Oh I love it so much. I had all the books when I was younger and the show captures the feel of the books brilliantly.
Good to hear they gotthe recognition they deserve Smile

pippibluestocking · 23/01/2011 11:01

Yes, agree Georgian Makeover show with Gok Wong type character was brilliant!

BendyBob · 23/01/2011 11:14

Brilliant news isn't it?! They totally deserve itGrin

It's a gem of a programme. One of those rare ones that transcends age, is very funny without offending anyone and you learn stuff to boot. In fact I can't think there ever has been another that does all that.

slartybartfast · 23/01/2011 11:23

i wonder if they will change the time of it now?

Panzee · 23/01/2011 11:25

I heard there was going to be a grown up version in the evening. The same but with Stephen Fry instead of the rat.

BendyBob · 23/01/2011 11:31

Oh please no no NO! Spare us not SF..!! I can't take any more blimmin SF wheeled out whenever someone 'clever and funny' is requiredHmm

slartybartfast · 23/01/2011 11:33

no, dont change it,
we like it as it is Grin

onimolap · 23/01/2011 12:06

I love it as it is - especially as MIL doesn't Grin

donnie · 23/01/2011 15:13

I hate it. I won't let my dds watch it.

onimolap · 23/01/2011 15:21

Donnie: any particular reason? Genuinely wanting to know (not start a squabble). MIL dislikes it because of the amount of poo references - wondering if it's the same for you?

Stephen Fry, kiss of death.
