What do you think of Gordon Brown?

Do you like him? Do you think he'll be prime minister one day? If so, will he be effective?

I'm inclined to like him, but that is based almost exclusively on my sympathetic feelings for him/his wife when they lost their young child a few years ago....which I fully accept is not a good reason to place faith in a politician.

he's not as camera/tv/radio friendly as blair and i think that is a good thing. but i'm really sick of him just towing the blair line when we all know he hates him.

i thought he might be better, but his cowtowing on iraq has just made me think he's as bad as the rest of them.

anyone is better than blair tho.

saadia · 27/09/2005 14:48

I could be wrong and naive but he seems kind and seems like he really wants to help those less well off both here and abroad, seems like one of the few politicians who have kept some vestige of their principles.

teeavee · 27/09/2005 14:50

sophable , tb is NOT video or radio-friendly! cannot bear to look at or listen to the man!

am with caligula and puff on this

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm............

ark · 27/09/2005 15:29

my understanding was that Scotlands parliament controlled all issues involving Scotland bar defence. So health, education, welfare etc controlled from Edinburgh - is that wrong? Where I was confused was how he represented his electorate fairly from Westminster if Scottish parliament is really the policy maker on all the big issues.

Clearly very confused! No change there!

Cam · 27/09/2005 16:05

Oh, not you as well Motherpeculiar

Has Gordie got a fan club

teeavee · 27/09/2005 16:09

puff · 27/09/2005 16:13

Lol Teevee it does look like him doesn't it.

Now girls you only fancy him because he's got the illusion of power

If he was a bloke you saw down the local chippy you'd run a mile

puff · 27/09/2005 16:18

I have always had odd taste in men.

Long standing crush on Charlie from "Casualty"

Donald Sutherland makes me go weak at the knees

Cam · 27/09/2005 16:30

Ah, got it, puff, you like blokes with dodgy eyes

puff · 27/09/2005 16:31

rofl

expatinscotland · 27/09/2005 16:31

He looks like a bulldog chewing a wasp.

expatinscotland · 27/09/2005 16:31

Oh, as Scots DH would say, 'He's got a face like a well-skelped a*&e.'

puff · 27/09/2005 16:31

He's a tubby Heathcliffe in my eyes

Caligula · 27/09/2005 16:32

Katierocket - on days like this, I think I might be!

Or maybe I'm just getting old. Time was when the idea of shagging any politician would have been simply horrific. And now it's.... not.

Oh dear. My life's heading in a downwards direction.

katierocket · 27/09/2005 16:33

It's not so much the politican thing I'm shocked about more GB specifically.

Yes I think you need to be studying those boy bands more.

Cam · 27/09/2005 16:34

Set your sights higher Caligula

yingers74 · 27/09/2005 17:36

I do like him and I like his wife although I think he is a bit too serious for his old good. He has a sweet genuine smile when he manages it and I think he really does need to smile more!

My only prob is that he does like to make things complicated, ie, means tested everything!

puff · 27/09/2005 17:43

Agree about his smile yingers - very cute!

Caligula · 27/09/2005 18:09

Er... Cam... does Simon Cowell count? Can he be described as higher?

katierocket · 27/09/2005 18:34

Simon Cowell?? He of the high trousers? You CANNOT be serious?

monkeytrousers · 27/09/2005 19:04

Caligula! Wash your mouth out!
