I have to disagree with you Lou! I don't think he is stupid ( having never me the guy though unfortunately). He gave a load of his cash on one film (can't remember which) to the production team, which put him straight back into favour with me again. Also if he were that thick he be into the whole silly celebrity games. Think he is just a nice, quiet, gentle man and I didn't know about his child and her mother. Poor man.

Also, I don't go to the type of films he is in to watch him act, I go to look at him!

piffle · 19/09/2005 11:40

Curious! I just watched Somethings Gotta Give and honestly I'd chose Jack Nicholson over Keanu too...
Passes me by... Whooosh

I think the article is a bit of a cheek.
Just because he doesn't attend every PR opportunity, red carpet affair.
Just because his private life is kept out of the limelight, unlike Beckhams or Jordan...
doesn't mean he's having a mid life crisis.

Sad about family.
Relationship with older woman ?
So what ?
Good for him.

lou33 · 19/09/2005 16:08

I can't watch a film if the actor is a wooden as a plank, doesn't matter how good looking he is. Keanu Reeves does nothing for me on both levels. Constantine was an absolute stinker.

monkeytrousers · 19/09/2005 21:46

Constantine! That was hardly his fault though Lou. Surely the writer and director should get a bollocking first!

harpsichordcarrier · 20/09/2005 08:18

ah Keanu
sometimes I like them thick and pretty
I love that bit in the MAtrix:

The Oracle - you're cuter than I thought. no wonder she likes you.
Thick'n'pretty - who?
The Oracle - not too bright though...

dropinthe · 20/09/2005 08:25

I used to have a major crush on him when I was much younger-he was stunning with River Pheonix in that film I can't remember the name of where River played a narcoleptic-what was that bloody film called again??? Bugging me!
Anyway, suffice to say, I would drool whenever I saw him but his acting is just dire-no getting round that but I wouldn't kick him out of bed an all!

triceratops · 20/09/2005 08:27

Even people who are not rocket scientists deserve happiness. I admit that he brings out the maternal in me, he does helpless so well . I am not a fan of pretty men generally for myself.

At least he is not a scientologist (I was very angry with Tom Cruise after his offensive remarks about PND). (Sorry to any scientologists out there - I am all for freedom of religion so long as it goes both ways).

harpsichordcarrier · 20/09/2005 08:35

My Own Private Idaho, DIT

dropinthe · 20/09/2005 08:44

THATS IT! I liked that film!

dropinthe · 20/09/2005 08:45

He brings out more than the bloody maternal in me!

Bouj · 20/09/2005 09:06

he makes me go humana humana humana

AnnieSG · 20/09/2005 09:53

I have to admit to finding him a bit of a plank when it comes to acting and he does nothing for me any other way..(sorry) but I wanted to say how cool your link is, monkeytrousers!!! I have never quite managed to post a link successfully and your mimimalist one here is fab!

Toothache · 20/09/2005 10:00

OMG I had no idea about his baby and his girlfriend... how horrendous!

And his sister too..... god I feel sorry for him!

I'd still give him one though.

marthamoo · 20/09/2005 10:03

Just doesn't float my boat at all. Whenever I see him I think of Wayne and Waynetta Slob calling their baby Canoe ("after that Canoe Reeves, y'know") I actually avoid films he's in 'cos he's such a rotten actor. I don't hate him or anything - and I hope he and Diane Keaton are very happy together (I'll concede that he's better looking than Woody Allen) - but he really leaves me cold.

monkeytrousers · 20/09/2005 10:11

Thanks AnnieSG!

Toothache - PMSL!

I have to admit when i first saw a picture of him all those years ago I was reading a very crap book by Virginia Andrews, part of the Heaven series and as soon as I saw him I thought TROY!

I'm embarressed to admit that now. They are so shite those books, as bad as Danielle Steele!!

OP posts:
monkeytrousers · 20/09/2005 10:12

Ohh but Troy was my hero..

AnnieSG · 20/09/2005 10:23

...when I was a hormonal teenage girl (as opposed to a hormonal grown woman) I used to ADORE Virginia Andrews books. Flowers in the Attic....sigh. I can still remember details of that book really vividly because I loved it so much. Me and all my mates just passed it round with shiny, over-excited expressions. Bit like playground crack then I suppose!

harpsichordcarrier · 20/09/2005 10:26

you two should start a new thread about Virginia Andrews, bring them all out of the closet...
I love how she has carried on writing even though she's been dead for quite a while now. That's talent for you...
now personally I spent my teenage years reading Proust and Kafka

wartybosoms · 20/09/2005 10:28

I'd rather have the affair with Diane than Keanu!

AnnieSG · 20/09/2005 10:31

wartbosoms, your message made me choke on my tea then!

AnnieSG · 20/09/2005 10:31

..should have said, wartybosoms!!
