...according to the Express. Look at today's front cover. I saw it in the supermarket earlier and was aghast that such blatant racism (they may as well have said "darkies") can appear all over a front page of a British Newspaper.

OK, ok, I was not surprised at all. It was the Express. Read exclusively by almost-dead old white women who are too stupid to read the "big words" in the Mail. I hear it's popular in Bournemouth, Hastings and other places where wrinkled old bigots go to die behind their net curtains.

The sooner the better, I reckon.

Personally I think the country had never been the same since we let those damned Flemish weavers in, with their weird foreign ways.

I blame the Normans, their foreign feudal culture wiped out the indigenous Saxon way of life. If the Normans didn't like it here they should have gone home!

Repeat theme with Norwegians, Danes, Angles, Jutes, Frisians and so on and so forth....

Well the headline is both contentious and meaningless, designed to be imflammatory to certain bigotted sections of the population, but the tone of the body of the article is restrained and appears to be factual. It draws no conclusions, but leaves the readers to draw their own.

Apart from the headline, I don't see it as racist. And I have no problem with the future population of the UK being darker skinned than I am.

While we fanny around calling people racist for referring to the "the dark-skinned girl", or "coloured poeple" (which was polite when I was a girl), or even "people of colour" (which at one time was what a certain section of the population wished to be called), we trivialise the issues of racism.

I hate this thing that we can no longer discuss race without accusations of racism. And I fully expect someone will call me racist for this post, although I am not.

Is nobody else worried about the future population of the UK being 78 -80 million?

I agree - the issue isn't the nationalities or the colour of skin it's he fact that we are no so overcrowded.

As someone that's liked in London for a number of years, the overcrowding is unbearable.

As far as I can see, the scary thing about us ethnics is not their colour or their burkas but the fact that each one of them is several people, in the plural (One In Five Will Be Ethnics). Of course this is going to have consequences for overcrowding.

I can tell the Express that even outside the inner city, in the affluent suburbs, more than 1 in 5 of DS's class do not have parents of wholly Anglo Saxon stock, yet they seem to expect an education in return for paying taxes (I am guessing some at the higher rate) and bringing in their foreign food for cake sales.
