How often SHOULD you change your bed?

Not how often DO you, but how often SHOULD you?

OP posts:

Thinking about it, how much water and washing powder is used to wash sheets daily? I'm slightly more concerned about the environment than my fetid bedding.

I change all 5 beds on a Monday morning any longer and they smell fetid.

Once a week for us and we both sleep in jammies and shower before bed. Twice a week if it's really hot, or there's been an unusual amount of sex, but (and I realise you don't need to know this) we use condoms so it's not that bad. Duvet cover every second week (doesn't touch us, we use a top sheet).

I only change my daughter's about once a month, though, unless she gets them dirty earlier - she also bathes before bed and has clean PJs on every second day, and being a toddler she doesn't have the whole hormonal sweat, etc., that the rest of us do.

Wish I could be bothered ironing bedding, it's so lovely to sleep in, but I cannot be arsed.

Are you supposed to hoover the mattress? I have a dust mite protector thingy so don't tend to bother.

Always change the sheets twice a week though. Do people have more than one set of sheets? It would make things easier to have 2 sets so I could put the spare one on straight away after stripping the dirty sheets, but that would mean having the sheets in the linen cupboard for a week and I LOVE freshly washed sheets

LMOA @ flibbertigibbert 'do people have more than one set' and also ing as I have 5+ sets for my bed and DS has 6 or 7 sets for his...
But I do know I am addicted and am getting counselling for it...
TBH fresh on is fine for me, fresh washed is not necessary, I have no objection at all to putting on sheets that have been in cupboard for 6 weeks.

To answer OP I think the should is weekly which I mostly acheive for both DS and me, despite showering before and after bed and not beign sweaty, and most definitely NOT having sex in it!!!!!

It might be NICE to change bedding once a week, but bearing in mind that many of our grandparents lived the majority of their lives without a washing machine, and the generation before that might not have had running water in the house, I am thinking that you can leave it a bit longer without the world coming to an end.
