How often SHOULD you change your bed?

Not how often DO you, but how often SHOULD you?

Once a week.
Almost always on a sunday.
More if needs be.
(Baby drool/leaked breast milk/sexy mess etc.)

GetOrfMoiLand · 06/05/2010 14:50

GOD no I don't iron them. That would be madness in itself.

I take the sheets off in the morning, put them in the wash, take them out and pin them up on the line overnight. Repeat the next day. Just put the clean sheets on before I get into bed. Only takes about 10 mins a day. Don't need ironing after being on the line.

I have a load of duvet sets but have to keep up on the washing because it would just get out of hand if I didn;t wash them as soon as I took them off.

DD changes her sheets once a week and she does her own.

It's lovely having clean sheets every night.

DP and DD think I am mad on the issue, however.

greensnail · 06/05/2010 15:06

Once a fortnight is fine I think.

emsyj · 06/05/2010 17:13

I couldn't sleep on unironed sheets. Just COULDN'T.

vintage · 06/05/2010 17:20

ideally every few days ,weekly at most and definately every day if you are "making love"

pippylongstockings · 06/05/2010 17:22

Once a fortnight is about average in this house - I also do the swapping kids sheets from top to bottom as they are 3 and 5 they don't reach the end of the bed so it is still clean.

How dirty are you when you get in bed ? Not very ......

emsyj · 06/05/2010 18:11

DH and I have a bath before bed every night. I would change the sheets if either of us had gone to bed without bathing. Although to be fair this has happened probably twice in the entire time we've been together (7 years).

wastingaway · 06/05/2010 19:57

Ah, you see I have a shower first thing in the morning, so it doesn't matter if the sheets have been slept in a few days.

lovechoc · 06/05/2010 20:08

I would ideally like to change the bedlinen once a week but it depends on DH shiftwork and whether I can get the chance during the day to change the bedsheets (if he's asleep during the day then I've no chance obviously!). Atm it gets done once a fortnight. Not what I'd like but not much I can do about it.

emsyj · 07/05/2010 10:32

We both shower in the morning too!!! We will wash ourselves away, according to my mother... But I couldn't start the day without a shower, and I couldn't sleep properly without a lovely hot bath.

peachybums · 07/05/2010 14:35

Every Monday i change ours and DS and every 2 weeks i change DD. I only change hers every 2 weeks because she is obsessed with the bath so is always clean before bed. Last week i was worn out (im 41 weeks pregnant now) So they didnt get changed until before i went to bed and DP said 'oh i thought youd gone on strike! Cheeky :p

ChasingSquirrels · 07/05/2010 14:42

whose SHOULD is this? Like there is some kind of rule??
Change them when you want to.

PollyTicks · 07/05/2010 14:48

Once a week.

DP does them once a week on a friday.

Umm, with out sounding rude, those of you who change yours every day...???!!!! WTF??!! Who has that much time????

Malificence · 09/05/2010 12:30

Every day? fuck that, ours gets done every 10 days or so, and we sleep naked, we bathe/shower every day and we manage not to smell like pigs or have fungus hanging off our skin so I think we're fine .
I prefer getting into a bed that smells of sex rather than lenor/comfort.

Washing bedding everyday isn't very helpful to the enviroment either, is it?

SeaTrek · 09/05/2010 15:42

Should:

1 x week spring, Autumn and Winter
2 x week summer

Do:

Once every 1-2 weeks....

SparkyToo · 10/05/2010 18:09

once a week

burgergirl · 10/05/2010 21:21

I do ours when they start to smell! We both shower everyday but the kids just get washed at the swimming baths. I hate this obsession with washing. It's all too much. I have a shower every day but kids don't need to have baths everynight. What a waste of water! Does anyone think of energy used? And really would it make a huge difference just washing your sheets once a fortnight?

emkana · 10/05/2010 21:25

Am flabbergasted...

honestly, what do you think is the worst thing that can happen if you only change your sheets every two or even (gasp) three weeks?

beatiebow · 10/05/2010 23:10

I do it once a fortnight as it is too much of a bother to get everything dry.

PosyPetrovaPauline · 10/05/2010 23:16

we change ours once a week to once a fortnight
childrens 2-17+ once a fortnight - they are too lazy to do it so i do it and they all have double beds
children under 2 maybe a couple of times a week

we all bathe every night before bed so they cannot be that dirty

PosyPetrovaPauline · 10/05/2010 23:18

emkana i reckon there's a lot of fibbing going on

I'm said slattern. Every other week even though DH can sweat like a beast. Frankly life's too short. Where the heck do you live GetOrf that you can dry your sheets overnight?
