May's Fledgling Flyers: shed that clout May Flyers are out

elliepac · 28/04/2010 21:23

Welcome to the May edition of the fledgling flyers where we are going to merrily fly around the maypole, dusting as we go.

Here you can do any of the following:

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

For those who are curious, these are the Babysteps, which we all hope will restore order in our homes and make our lives a little bit easier with lots of support (and chat, and wine, and a little more chat )

So please come and join us, old and new, from May 1st.

ChairmumMiaowGoingItAlone · 04/05/2010 19:08

Evening all,

am posting on my phone from bed so it's hard to do a proper catchup but it looks like everyone has been busy! And hello to the new flyers!

Today I have had a nice day with friends round in the morning to lavish me with praise for the choc cake DS and I made yesterday :-). Also managed to keep DS awake all day after he wouldn't go to sleep till 10.30 last night so he was asleep in his own bed before 7! He may well not sleep through but I'm going to get a headstrart on my sleep very soon! The basic routines are done so we don't have to face a mess in the morning. Planning a busy morning tomorrow so will be back with my list and a proper catchup when DS forces me out of bed with shouts of "my food mummy, NOW, come on!". Don't ya love 2 year olds :-)

MiniMarmite · 04/05/2010 19:08

Hi Ladies

Do you ever go to bed thinking the house is well, a bit messy, but generally ok and at least hygienic...and then wake up to find...aaaaah, the whole house is one big, smelly, hotspot...or is that just me ?!

Right, off to takle the nastiness and will return later to catch up on the gossip...if I'm not back in 3 hours send out a search party!

MrsDinky · 04/05/2010 20:42

Is it me or is MN a bit messed up tonight, and very slow. Going to post this quickly and see if it works before making a longer post

pushmepullyou · 04/05/2010 20:52

Oh help!

Only 4 days into May and already i have fallen off the thread

My mn is slow and a bit odd as well MrsD, so hope this works.

I've been away for the bank holiday so haven't got off to the most auspicious start! Have done a good bit of tidying though so babysteps all going in the right direction.

I am now a proper inaugerated company director so very excited, but a little overawed by the level of extra responsibility and personal liability involved.

Work has very much taken up my time over the last few weeks, but I'm hoping to get a bit more organised on the flying front this month.

Right, off to catch up with the thread. Hello to all, especially those who are new since I was last here!

MrsDinky · 04/05/2010 20:53

Right, here goes,

Er, actually didn't achieve much beyond emptying the loft of stuff and feeding the kids etc. Ironing mountain is untouched and in fact has grown. Oh well.

Welcome to Gormers MM - that happens to me most mornings. Our kitchen is not very brightly lit, so it all looks lovely at night time, daylight reveals the truth!

DEM - hope you get more sleep tonight.

Going to get off here now and do the ironing, see you tomorrow.

PS - MrsDinky is going to the FA Cup Final and is very excited!

MrsDinky · 04/05/2010 20:54

x-pposted with PMPY - hello and nice to see you again. Congrats on directorship!

DidEinsteinsMum · 04/05/2010 21:00

MrsD: Enjoy the football!!!

pmpy congrats on directorship!

been creating a finanical masterplan... it needs a lot of work

elliepac · 04/05/2010 21:22

Evening all,

You will have to forgive me if I don't do full round-up tonight . Had parent's evening until 8pm and still have work to do. In addition my MN is also a bit wierd tonight.

I will give however a special mention to intravenous and gormers. Welcome to the thread and to flylady. I post the links at the end of each day which give direction as to what to aim for the next day. Any questions please just ask . Enjoy!

pmpy you also deserve a special mention for your return...we missed you, congratulations on the directorship .

Have a good evening everybody, you all look to have been busy!

2nd attempt at posting this, crashed first time! luckily I had copied just in case!

OP posts:
pushmepullyou · 04/05/2010 21:25

Thanks MrsD and DEM I feel ridiculous saying (or indeed writing) it out loud, sounds much grander than I feel!

My life is mostly financial masterplanning at the moment, either at home or work, but the figures aren't particularly convincing on either front, so I definitely empathise.

Also empathising with MM on the whole house hotspot disaster!

elliepac · 04/05/2010 21:27

Helloooooo,

Today's babystep focuses on positivity. You don't have to do what it says here but I think the principle of not beating yourself up about stuff (the house in particular) is a really good one.

The mission today is www.flylady.net/pages/FlightPlan_Missions.asp.

Keep up the shiny sinks everyone!

Well done and happy flying!

droitwichmummy · 04/05/2010 21:38

Evening & hello to intravenous and gormers. Welcome back pmpy oh great company director! Lots of waving to everyone else.

DS not been in bed long (& still awake ) so thank goodness I have gone back to babysteps!

It was me with my trusty whiteboard - still here currently sporting a shopping list, appointment cards for the next month(ish), some free bowling vouchers, a party invitation (for DS) and 3 messages: one says 9pm check Sky recording Pacific (from DH) and the other 2 are from DS - 'skooter' & I WANT A KITTEN!!! (his exclamation marks btw)

Tonight I have
done big Tesco shop for delivery tomorrow night
checked the banking (still ok)

I need to
shine sink
put DW on
put WM on
put wet washing on airer

Need to find cat baskets at some point - both to vet in the morning for their annual jabs. Wish me luck

droitwichmummy · 04/05/2010 22:09

All done so off to bed.

See you tomorrow

missbennett · 04/05/2010 22:44

Evening!
PA hope you feel better soon. Am now really looking forward to getting going on millenium 2!
pmpy congratulations!
Waves to everyone else and especially newcomers!
minim I frequently feel whole house is one big hotspot. Not good and I have all sorts of plans for sorting things out and then somehow they don't happen. For example, tonight I thought I might sort out a pile of something - loads to choose from - but I haven't But the table was clear enough to eat at tonight

I have kept up with routines, DH has turned some washing round and everyone has been fed and got to wherever they were meant to be, including me swimming. I have not buried DH under the patio, nor thrown out DDs. I got to work fully dressed and I remembered to collect my prescription. DH has got DD2's passport application in the post, along with his bowel screening sample . We all have clean knickers for tomorrow.

I therefore consider today a success even if the house is still a tip

MiniMarmite · 04/05/2010 23:07

Hi everyone, a bit (and I mean a bit!) more presentable now! Phew.

Sorry I haven't done individual messages and hellos for a few days.

Hello to everyone and welcome returners and newbies.

Day off tomorrow so time to catch up with gossip on MN housework while DS has a nap!

Must start holiday packing - please feel free to nag me!

MiniMarmite · 04/05/2010 23:08

oh, must just say well done to PMPY very impressive, fabulous news .

PositiveAttitude · 05/05/2010 06:25

Good morning all,

Welcome back to Mrs Doolittle!!!!! (and congrats on grand title!)

I am up and although not quite bushy tailed, feeling a bit better. DH went out last evening, so I stayed awake for a while then had an early night when mumsnet was playing up more than I could be bothered with. DD2, DD3 & her boyfriend watched a horror movie, which resulted in them screaming and being scared of their own shadow. DH then made them worse by tapping on the window when he arrived home. My ears are still ringing from their screams!!
DH not feeling well last evening, so I think I have been generous with the germs!

MissB - DH not under the patio, DDs still at home AND clean knickers - you are on a roll!!!

Funny day ahead for me today. I will try and keep positive as per fat fairy!
Morning routines
Must remove all the piles of clothes from the back lounge, so that we can actually walk across the floor!
Work - hopefully on time!
Shopping and bill paying
Take DD3 to an art exhibition with her education unit (just happens to have a nice cafe attached, - I wonder why I volunteer to be taxi for that trip!!)
Someone who has just moved in closeby is coming for a coffee, so will need to make the house look half acceptable! (first visit to me at home!)
EIther toad in the hole, or Fajitas for tea????? Hmmmmm which one today????
Make custard tart for dessert - DHs favourite!

Apologies for lack of personal messages, but a big wave to everyone.
Have a good day!

LinzerTorte · 05/05/2010 07:18

Good morning,

Welcome to intravenouscoffee and gormers, and well done to pushmepullyou on the directorship! Glad to hear you're feeling better PA.

It's another cold, wet and windy day here. The wind must have blown the lid off DS's snail container last night as his prized collection of 10 pet snails has escaped. He was very upset this morning, but it's probably for the best!

Busy day here today - I was hoping to postpone the washing until tomorrow (also in the desperate hope that the sun might finally come out), but it was not to be. Still, at least DS's sheets are being changed regularly. How's the potty training going, ellie?

Today's list:
Morning routine
Prepare English lesson
Finish menu translation (which has already been on my list for far too long)
Letter
Update calendar
Piano lessons DD1 and DD2
Afternoon routine (unlikely to get much done as DS's friend and his 2 year old sister are coming to play, but it's going on the list)
Evening routine
DC and me to bed at a decent (not the same!) hour

Must make a start as I've only got till 11 am today and then will be out and about until 3 pm.

Nettiespagetti · 05/05/2010 07:43

Morning everyone

Well done pmpy

linzer another snail specialist my DS spent ages yest waiting for snail to come out of his shell but think he's gone onto snail heaven!!
missb love post

Today's list

breakfast me and DC doing
DW and WM
drop dcs off nursery
me work
me opticians
home huge pile of ironing
clean front door
bedtime dc
tackle paperwork mountain
bed me at 10.30

Hope you all have lovely day!

intravenouscoffee · 05/05/2010 08:22

Morning all. Rubbish night with DS who decided it'd be fun to wake every hour from 2am, feed for about 3 mins and then fall into a coma-like sleep again. This morning he looks very well rested but can't say I'm the same.

To do:

Morning routine started
What's for tea?
Ironing
Declutter in hall - 15 mins

That should do for today I think. If I weren't BF I'd be downing the espressos but think a large dose of caffeine is the last thing DS needs now! Hope everyone is having a good morning.

missbennett · 05/05/2010 08:48

Morning! Very quick post as should be on way to work!
intravenous hope you get some sleep. PA enjoy the cafe. My vote would be toad in the hole. nettie impressive list!

I have done
-morning routine
-load of washing - and on the line in an optimistic sort of way!
-washed last nights pans left to soak

so that leaves:
-mission - will try and clear up bits of leaflets etc
-hot spot in kitchen
-convince DD2 to change sheets
-Guide admin and shopping for tomorrow
-camp planning meeting
-evening routine

Have a good day everybody.

gormers · 05/05/2010 09:29

Morning all!

Have done the sink & washing up, put a washing load on.
