How often do you mop your floors?

I have laminate wood flooring downstairs and lino in the kitchen, bathrooms and toilets. How often do you clean these types of flooring and what with?

Thank you for all the replies!! I feel like a bit of a lazy cow slattern now, I don't think I have cleaned my floors since end of March when my mop broke!

Kitchen is mopped every other day

I use cif floor cleaner for the laminate- doesn't leave a residue and smells lovely

I live in US. In midwest. Just wanted to share that my husband and I moved into our house 9 months ago. We are kidless, but have 2 cats. All floors are laminate except bathroom and kitchen, which are tile. I vacuum all floors 3x a week; kitchen every other day as we keep litter box for cats in that room. I try to steam mop once a week, on Wed, but that doesn't always happen. I also use a traditional broom in the kitchen from time to time. The worst places for cat hair are under the coffee table and in master bedroom. I use swiffer sweeper clothes for touch ups.

Sometimes though I notice streaking on the floors from the steam mop. I don't know how to remedy this. Suggestions?

We've got Amtico do I use their special cleaner and add bleach ... Twice -three times a week. DS is disabled and crawls lots do it's nice if the floors are clean for him!

I hate mops. I have laminate flooring downstairs and do a quick Hoover after dinner each night, try to steam it every other night. No pets but two toddlers.

tiled kitchen floor gets hoovered, washed when sticky. Done it twice this year...

bathroom is laminate, also gets hoovered, mats washed regularly (must have mats for laminate, doesn't like being wet), and laminate wipes used when the moon is blue.

no pets and shoes off policy. Possibly a bit of a slattern but no-one has run away screaming yet.

Every other day after a quick hoover. After you've done a deep clean of your house - which I don't do more than twice a year, it takes no time at all to mop the floors the following days.

Shark - how I wish that were true in my house. After I've done a deep clean of my house, it takes less than an hour for my 2 small children to empty every toy they have onto the floor. Hoovering and mopping then takes a long time as we have to pick up a thousand toys first

I use floor wipes as they dry quite quickly on my kitchen and bathroom floors, once or twice a week. I Hoover the laminated wood and wipe as necessary. However, when we have family dogs to stay I use Pledge Wooden floor wipes which seems to do a nice job.

Hoover everyday try and steam everyday and wash with hot bleachy water once twice a week

Thrice a week with the baby. Once a week before that.

Floors steamed or mopped once a week, I rarely steam laminate just Hoover.

T skivvy, I read the other day that hot water neutralises the active ingredient in bleach. Was very disappointed as I love hot and bleachy myself :(

Before the cleaner... Very rarely... Now the cleaner does it weekly... But tbh it looks the same by the next day seems a big old waste of time to me

I sweep all bloody day due to my crumb secreting toddler. I usually mop when the sun shines on the floor and I can see shoe prints

Sweep daily. Obvious unsweepable muck with floor wipe. Mop once a week if it's lucky as it's such an arse not being able to go in again till its dried with a baby and a toddler.

First: Wood floors are awfully difficult to mop, because over time the wood will splinter due to expansion and contraction caused by constant moisture changes brought on by mopping. (This assumes your wood floors are unsealed or unwaxed)

Second: If you can't afford to have the floor sealed in some way, then lay down rolled flooring. It's much easier to mop. Don't use peel and stick tiles - the water will just go right between the tiles and then saturate the wood. It can't evaporate once it's under the tiles. This causes both rot and mold to set in. Instead, use rolled vinyl flooring. After installation, seal it around the edges with caulk and shoe molding.

Mop once a week or as needed to control dust or tracked in dirt. Spot mop as needed to catch spills. If you can't afford rolled flooring, I'd recommend daily sweeping or vacuuming. But don't mop an unsealed wood floor. The catch word here is 'unsealed'.
