I want a hoover that really sucks!

Having had shite hoovers for the whole of my married life I want one that sucks in a different sense.

Currently we have a Vax model that is crap - you can empty the dust container all you like but the filter has to be scraped out to improve performance at all and doing anything with it makes me very wheezy.

So what do you have and is it any cop?

I want a hoover with bags btw - bagless is just a nightmare to empty!

Henry, but they are heavy and a pain to carry about, great suction though.
I don't have one but use one at work.

mumblechum · 18/04/2010 19:01

I have a Meile (think it's called an S520 or something.) Have had it for 11 years and is still fandabbydoosie.

fruitshootsandheaves · 18/04/2010 19:02

Miele

brilliant. Copes with copius amounts of dog fluff, grit and general child mess (good with lego too )

BariatricObama · 18/04/2010 19:06

Northernlurker · 18/04/2010 19:07

We know 'Henry' - use one at church and we were thinking that might be the way to go.

We've got a Dyson 'allergy' and it's brilliant.

BariatricObama · 19/04/2010 10:10

dyson smyson - henrys last forever you are lucky if a dyson lasts 3 years

mumblechum · 21/04/2010 16:48

I got so pissed off with my Dyson I ran it over on purpose (bit of a Basil Fawlty moment)

BendyBob · 21/04/2010 16:54

Lol..I had my Basil Fawlty moment with a Hoover and shoved it unceremoniously in the wheely bin. It was, quite literally..rubbish.

We've had a Dyson for years now. Good suction but heavy and cumbersome, I find.

My mum swears by Oreck cleaners. Apparantly they use them in hotels (so she says). They are very lightweight but effective. I'd def consider one next time.

dizzydixies · 21/04/2010 16:55

miele cat and dog

hellymelly · 21/04/2010 16:56

I hate my dyson with a passion.I am about to buy a miele as I have a miele washing machine and I love it.I'm getting the cat and dog one.

brimfull · 21/04/2010 16:56

I hate my Henry

GoldenSnitch · 21/04/2010 17:03

We've got a Dyson 'allergy' (DC21?)- it sucks in the bad sense of the way. Biggest disappointment ever

I loved my DC07 but it lost suction no matter how much it was serviced!

Northernlurker · 21/04/2010 17:07

I've definately decided no dyson - the reviews are too mixed. Sorry Dyson lovers. Henry is still looking v likely but I do keep looking at Miele - any more miele lovers out there?

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 21/04/2010 17:08

our dyson was utter shite and cost a fortune to repair TWICE, unfortunately was present from MIL so couldn't chuck it out

first time I used our miele I was horrified at what the dyson hadn't managed and I STILL love it now - we're a filthy filthy lot too !!

GoldenSnitch · 21/04/2010 19:20

Do Miele do bagless machines?

notnearlyasblondasiwas · 21/04/2010 19:25

I hate my Henry, it tips over when you pull it and I always seem to end up with it smacking me in the head when I try to put it away in the cupboard - does suck really well tho!

Freezingmyarseoff · 21/04/2010 19:26

Another vote for Miele, we have S5000 HEPA allergy one - don't know why as we don't have allergies - or perhaps that's due to the Miele

whooosh · 21/04/2010 19:28

My SEBO suction is so good it literally pulls me around the house.it is 6yrs old and I have not had a single problem with it.
Go SEBO and I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
Not the prettiest but who cares-they are FAB!

myalias · 21/04/2010 19:30

Miele cat and dog

Phrenology · 21/04/2010 19:33

tartyhighheels · 21/04/2010 19:38

Northernlurker · 21/04/2010 19:42
