OK - enough of me skulking around feeling sorry myself.........

ToccataAndFudge · 18/03/2010 17:32

I'm going to sort this bloody house out once and for all see here for what this is about

There will be before and after photos too (just so you don't think I'm exaggerating about the disaster zone that it currently is)

This moping around feeling sorry myself is doing me no good and I need to get it sorted.

I may end up talking to myself on the thread........don't feel you have to reply.......writing it on here is better than talking to the walls about how I'm doing.

First things first - out for fag and sort something for boys dinner - probably scrambled egg on toast.

Right I've made the beds, put washing away etc. The kids bags are sorted for the weekend at their Dad's.

Toccata- small steps at a time and you'll soon get there.

ThreeBlondeBoys- I'm sure you'll find some nice burly men to help at the tip

The clutter thing really does get me- I'm a bit of a hoarder by nature, Dp keeps telling me to be ruthless, and I'm getting better. Doesn't help when we starting to 'outgrow' this lovely house and my business takes up quite a bit of space, storage wise.

I guess I'll have to be really really ruthless with regards to whats got rid of....

ToccataAndFudge · 19/03/2010 11:42

ok I've done half an hour and need a break.

Furniture in my room is now where it should be (although not totally happy with the positioning of it).

And DS1 has drawers in his chest of drawers now......

OP posts:
GypsyMoth · 19/03/2010 11:46

it looks a lovely house though!! nice floors and decor

ToccataAndFudge · 19/03/2010 11:46

I have LOADS of washing to do though........XH and his mates chucked the clothes from the drawers.........and the dirty clothes all into the same bags as each other - I can't tell from looking what's nice and clean and fresh and what isn't - so going to have to put the whole lot through

Toccata I think have just worked out who you are. I think we spoke a bit under your old name.

Um! can I just say your house is clean compared to mine. Mine is in a much worse state than that. But I am getting there. Honestly if mine were as tidy as yours I would be jumping for joy.

My DC1 was like yours and so is DC3. The only way I got through it was being very strict and having proper boundaries, they seem to like that. DC1 is now top of his class and an absolute joy, so take heart. We are still working on DC3. But he is getting there. I think nursery definatly helps. Is he starting in April?

ToccataAndFudge · 19/03/2010 11:48

it is a lovely house.......and will be even nicer once I uncover everything........

ToccataAndFudge · 19/03/2010 11:49

Mrs Gok.........I'm currently uploading the worst rooms.......the living room and the kitchen (although the latter is a little better now than it was when I took the photos).

OP posts:
ToccataAndFudge · 19/03/2010 11:55

yes - we did speak under my old name(s?)

last of the photos uploaded........

actually realised the pictures of my bedroom hide the bags of stuff on the floor........

OP posts:
MrsGokWantsatidyhouse · 19/03/2010 12:27

Aha!! that makes sense now.

Can I say that those last photo's look like the whole of my house except DC2&3 room, which I blitzed a couple of months ago. DC1's room is half way there. The family bathroom we can just about use if we edge round the dining table that is in there. The landing you have to edge round a chair and bookcase that are awaiting a new home. I moved all the stuff that needed to go in the loft a couple of weeks ago. Our bathrrom has boxes of stuff from DC1's room in it to manouvere around. My room you can only get to the bed on one side and you have to step over thing. The stairs have clothes on them from top to bottom folded up, ready to be put away. Hall is similar to yours. I have shut the door on the lounge and we don't go in there. Kitchen looks like yours and the dining room is 3 times as bad.

I am working on the kitchen at the moment and now have a clean floor and the washing caught up on. The washing up is getting there, another couple of days and it will be together. Then there is all the junk to be sorted.

So I know where you are coming from and can sympathise. Hence my user name at the moment.

ToccataAndFudge · 19/03/2010 12:35

ok I think this is long enough doing nothing........going to go and make some lunch for DS3 I and then may and try and get a shower so I feel a bit fresher for sorting more (slightly bizarre I know to want to get clean befor eI get dirty but really could do with a shower and some clean clothes)

OP posts:
ToccataAndFudge · 19/03/2010 12:54

ok change of plan.........just after I typed my last post DS3 snuggled up on my lap and fell asleep

He's now on the sofa, and I'm going to go and have a shower.......

OP posts:
ToccataAndFudge · 19/03/2010 14:07

have showered and got clean clothes on so feelig better in that respect.

But then got tied up with a thread in active convo's and feeling like shit again after a comment (not directed at me, or anyone other than the OP's sister)

OP posts:
MrsGokWantsatidyhouse · 19/03/2010 14:17

Toccata I saw that too.

OK how's about we both go off and do 15 mins and I will meet you back here? Have to clean out the fridge before things start walking.

Oh! and well done on the shower.

ToccataAndFudge · 19/03/2010 14:18

feeling like fucking shit now

obviously I'm not grown up enough if I need support from other people right now

OP posts:
MrsGokWantsatidyhouse · 19/03/2010 14:20

We all need support sometime. I do particularly at the moment, I am drowning. It is the grown up thing to do to ask for it.

ToccataAndFudge · 19/03/2010 14:28

I suppose - it's just the number of that people on the thread making out "well she's a grown up she shouldn't need support"....yet they know f*ck all about her apart from what the OP has said.

If you rely heavily on people you're not being responsible,

I suppose I ought to try and do something else.

DS3 is still curled up asleep under the blanket on the sofa.......not sure what to tackle next.

Maybe get a load of washing and round more of my papers up to file later........

OP posts:
sb6699 · 19/03/2010 14:29

Make a list and cross off each thing as you do it - that way even if the house is still a tip at the end of the day you can see how much you have achieved.

It takes a while to unpack a house (and pack as I am currently finding out) so dont be too hard on yourself.

AbsOfCroissant · 19/03/2010 14:31

How is your room going? You said you have all the furniture in place - maybe start putting stuff in cupboards etc.

ToccataAndFudge · 19/03/2010 14:31

sb I do usually make lists.......(it was me who started the listmakers/slatterns thread)

but they're just not working at the moment as there's so much to do. I don't even know where to start making the list.......iykwim

OP posts:
ToccataAndFudge · 19/03/2010 14:33

I'll have to wash most of the stuff that was in the black bags before I start putting it away..........thanks to XH and his mates who just shoved clean stuff from drawers and dirty stuff from flors all into the same bags and I can't work out which is which (they told me they'd start downstairs so I could go and pack all the clothes properly - but then changed their mind without telling me).

OP posts:
sb6699 · 19/03/2010 14:34

Do a list for each room - that way its smaller and easier to tackle.

About the support thing, I cried last for my mum last night after having yet another argument with my letting agent over what is probably a small matter in the grand scheme of things - does that make me any less of an adult. I dont think so, just someone who has alot on their plate atm.

MrsGokWantsatidyhouse · 19/03/2010 14:38

Ok! Toccata I am off for 15 mins to start on my fridge, I'll be back then for a break.

ToccataAndFudge · 19/03/2010 14:54

ok - I have put a load of washing in, hung some up around the house to dry, made DS3 some lunch (yes it's late bu he only just woke up) and brought a small pile of papers through here that I need to file later

and now sat down with a coffee...........the rest will have to wait until after school run as will have to leave once I/we have had this

OP posts:
MrsGokWantsatidyhouse · 19/03/2010 15:14

Brilliant. Every little helps. I have mine all off sick at the moment so no school run. Hope you enjoy your coffee.

I managed 2/3rd of my fridge as DC3 decided he was going to 'help' me, so it took longer than it should have. Will finish it in a minute.

ToccataAndFudge · 19/03/2010 15:43

ok am now back from school run/shop, bought the DS's a small pack of sweets each (toothbrushes and teeth ones ) and I'm having a coffee.

I've bribed them.........told them we're going to spend today and tomorrow getting the house sorted out.......and if they help me really well (even if it's just entertaining DS3 while I get on with other stuff) I'll take their Wii into the games shop in town next week and find out about getting it fixed............
