Hello, Veteran Flyladies

This is your thread. We could use this thread title for a while, just changing it to Weekly?

OP posts:
Jas · 05/03/2010 11:46

Yes. I was also thinking start on Monday, but I would put the zone in the title each week., and then the mission link works for the whole week

Jas · 05/03/2010 11:51

Thanks for the thread again though swan
I have been to toddler group and bought calomine cream for neighbour whose baby has the pox.

I have ordered flowers online for my mum, having found that the local florists cheapest bunch to dliver was £30 plus delivery!!

They are for this week. I am hoping to visit her next week on mothers day but she is in hospital having surgery for breast cancer today. I am a bit edgy now, until I get the call from my dad to tell me it all went ok, and they can confirm that it hasn't spread. She only found the lump a month ago, so hopefully it has been caught early enough.

I am going to use the housework as therapy and keep busy by cleaning this afternoon, but could do with company if anyone is around, so will pop back after lunch....

swanriver · 05/03/2010 12:09

Jas, thinking of you,
Very best wishes for your mum.

Had a moderately good day
Tackled some errand stuff, and looked sternly at the hall (it just looked back and whistled unfortunately)
kitchen tidier
mini-shop, thought about ds1 lunchbox tomorrow
Bit of singing
Bit of piano
forced ds1 to recite instructions for making an eclair for Cubs tomorrow, forced dd to do some violin

off to school disco with kids in a bit

Starbear · 05/03/2010 17:11

Emm! Being a veteran. Does this mean I have to be tidy and organised? Because that's still not me! Does anyone one own a timer that you can carry around. That would be useful. I've just been up town not sure if my shopping will have to go back to Debenhams as I spent too much money. Need to get the W/M on before a collect little bear from his friends house. Do you think that 6pm is too late or okay for a playdate. I think the Mum hoped I had said earlier Hey! She should have suggested a better time than to ask me!
See ya laters

Makingchanges · 05/03/2010 18:01

Evening all

I could have sworn i'd been on here and posted earlier maybe I just thought about it.

Jas - Hope your Mum's op goes ok

star I wouldn't think 6pm is too late. Any earlier and I would feel rushed with tea - but then I've never had a playdate round so not a good judge

Swan sounds like a good day

Wendy good news on the job - I like the choccy biccies to celebrate

Hello to anyone else

I haven't done much today. My leg is sore after physio yesterday (She was brutal but positive). DD is in a mood, took her to see my nan and she kicked and screamed going there and kicked her car seat out of the car in a strop. She says it was cos she wanted a treat and Nick Jr and her toys. Unfortunately she gone none when she got home

Also picked up DD's friends present for birthday next week, bought a few new tops from TK Maxx whilst passing and ordered MIL mother's day present. To top off my day my car remote battery died on me today. My car has a key in the remote but I couldn't get that to work either so was stuck in the cold for a while.

Off to make tea for DH and me - Bacon and Mushroom Tagliatelle - Yum

swanriver · 05/03/2010 19:44

Star - 6pm is fine with most people. My more hospitable friends assume their dcs will stay till 6.30 when they come here.
But...
I don't like giving other people's children tea - I find my own too stressful at teatime , but that is just me being unhospitable. I love it when they come and play for hours, and turn everything upside down, but hate serving food other than snacks in any quantity.
I'm sure you are not like that AT ALL.

How did the personal shopper go? apart from being a bit pricey what image has she created for you?

We are vets in sense of being last remaining band huddled together in jungle needing airlift. Yest thread explains all.

MC know that stroplet well..treats

Jas hope everything is alright at the hospital.

OP posts:
Wolfcub · 05/03/2010 20:11

does being a vet mean I have to start cleaning stuff?

jas i hope your mum is doing okay

Makingchanges · 05/03/2010 22:32

Swan DD calls her after nursery snack a treat, whether it is chocolate, a banana, raisins or an apple.

Well I have spent the best part of the last 3 hours (well just short I think) watching the SHawshank Redemption, really enjoyed it but it has meant again not much done other than exercises and ice leg. I guess I'd better pull my finger out tomorrow.

Night all - Hope the weekend brings peace and relaxation to all

swanriver · 06/03/2010 08:44

MC you must try having a playdate round - it is a baptism of fire [sometimes]but worth it.

OP posts:
wendyhappysmile · 06/03/2010 09:21

morning girls
Having a real battle with DS at the minute, he is questioning everything we ask him and won't do anything without a lengthy explanation - difficult if you are in a rush, in the middle of a shop, it's late at night etc etc. Driving me mad tbh. he is really asserting himself lately. Parent's Eve this week so am interested to see what they say - i have some things to say to them given that he has not progressed all year and certain things have not been put in place

I for one am quite happy to move to Fledgling Fly lady thread if everyone wants to do that as I probably need to go back to basics anyway!

Off to yoga for the first Saturday in months. DH and FIL re-fixing floorboards and laminate after plumber has fit a new radiator in kitchen, MIL and SIL taking DD out!

swanriver · 06/03/2010 09:42

just iced some eclairs WITH ds for HIS Cubs competition, I'd forgotten how impossible cooking is my choc icing decided to roll up in a ball and not spread [aargh]
yet again my cooking and project skills are at level of 9 year old, so I suppose it comes in useful.
why did we pick eclairs and not rockcakes to do novice baking with? well he insisted on eclairs...

Wendy I think they just want every part of our attention - they are unable to judge what is a good or bad time for wringing our brains out.

OP posts:
Starbear · 06/03/2010 11:43

Morning ALL I've lost the morning I don't know where it is. Sorry no time to read yesterdays thread properly
Personal shopping experience wasn't as fab as last time. Too long to explain this morning. I have now got some things to wear to the office. During the week Sis is coming over. I get her to look. Then I will return the mistakes.
Had a lovely drink with a mum from the old school but now I'm exhausted. As I had the day to myself yesterday it all still here to be done today.
Wendy Little bear went through that stage I understand their problem, if they wait the thought drifts right out of their heads. I try and remember what the question was and answer it on the journey or when time isn't so precious. Don't quote me thou.
Swan Eclairs quite easy on paper but not so easy to reproduce. Good luck.
MC I'm big on playdates as Little Bear is an 'only'. I think the only food to serve little guests is sausages or fish fingers with mash & peas/beans anything else doesn't work. Playdate Mum was fine with the time as Little bear was very helpful at feeding her 18 month old. He would have made a lovely big brother or is it the novelty!
Well back in a mo with a list.

Starbear · 06/03/2010 11:47

Okay here goes
W/M loaded
To do
Shower and dress
Prepare new load for W/M
load dryer
re load W/M.
lunch
DH going to football QPR
food shopping
to M&S to collect bathmat
Go to the park
Tea for Ds Spag Bol
get ready to go round friends for dinner.

Better get on before I lose the afternoon as well

Jas · 06/03/2010 13:28

Morning. Sorry I didn't get back yesterday. I did try but mn seemed not to want me!

Mum has had her surgery and following more tests had her lymph nodes taken out as well, which we weren't expecting, but at least it it was all done in one operation. She should be home later today, all going well.

I hate playdates in general, but as the dds are getting older it gets easier. I agree "kid food" tends to be the way to go wehen feeding children you don't know well, even if it is not the norm at home.
As long as the extra children are on their way by 7 so I can get ds reaDY FOR BED, I AM FAIRLY FLEXIBLE ABOUT TIMINGS. DD2 HAS A FREIND WHOSE MUM IS ROUTINELY AN HOUR LATE to collect, so I do tend to deliberately suggest an early time for her though.

Lots of laundry done, and beds changed. Other than that I plan on playing on the Wii and reading a book today

Starbear · 06/03/2010 15:05

Hi all I agree Jas If time is important to you, don't allow the other person to make a suggestion. Friday afternoon I'm cool.
reading a book!
Shower and dress done
reload W/M done
load dryer done & now empty
lunch fish fingers & peas/beans
DH going to football QPR gone
Homework for Ds much nashing of teeth and a little crying!!!! One bit done
Go to the park then....food shopping
to M&S to collect bathmat c/f

dylsmum1998 · 06/03/2010 16:26

afternoon all.

Jas hope your mum is feeling ok.

had such a busy week with uni/ school visiting etc

have done lots of uni work which is good

had a busy day, dd to ballet/tap. ds to swimming. lunch then off to get the weeks shopping- forgot the list so spent more than i should have, just in case that was on the list
have completely cleaned out the living room, just the rest of the flat to go, although prob wont do it today my asthma is a bit bad, have caught dd's cough/cold/sorethroat from earlier in the week.
went swimming with my friend yesterday and did 26 lengths well we did need to work off some of the chinese we had for lunch . but dont think that has helped my asthma.

now going to sit down for a bit and read a book

swanriver · 06/03/2010 17:06

I've spent the whole day reading my book in a dingy pub in some distant suburb near Scouts. So far to drive and so nerve wracking driving there I thought I might as well stay there (and stay away from chores
book fab "A Thing of Darkness" about Darwin etc
Ds1's team won the competition with their organisational skills and chicken bacon and tomato pasta dish, and of course the eclairs Our other team was pretty good, but unfortunately one Cub picked up a hot pan by its bottom and another cut himself whilst squeezing a lemon(so they lost points) I think there were 5 other Cub groups from other parts of borough and about ten teams in all - so not that difficult to win, but still he is really CHUFFED,and so am I! Now we just need to do more cooking together and he'll be safe bringing me cups of tea soon I hope.

Jas glad your mum is on the mend.

Dyls 26 lengths and everything else too. You are amazing. Perhaps I am just v. old

OP posts:
Wolfcub · 06/03/2010 17:36

jas I'm glad your mum is doing okay. Mil had same op last year and had lymph nodes removed, she is doing really well now and is back at work.

Been to pick up dp's wedding ring today. Will pick up mine in a few weeks. Also been to post office to post parcels and to travel agents to pay balance of wedding.

Done
rubbish and recycling out
unsuccessfully tried to tidy the kitchen
just making some apple curd and sterilising a jar to put it in.
swan well done to ds and his team

really want to make some choux buns or eclairs but need a new piping bag, mine always end up manky and I am really bad at making them from baking parchment.

wendyhappysmile · 06/03/2010 18:32

Hi all
Very tired and in a bad temper today. yoga just made me tired but not calm!

Jas glad mum is doing well.
Swan LOL at dingy pub! LOL at unfortunate Cub losing points but never mind his burnt hand LOL. Sounds like a fun Cub activity, must get my DS's name down for Beavers and DD for Rainbows too.

Right, DD in bath, DS playing somewhere, need to make a curry, naans and yoghurt dip for poppadoms ... hoping my mood improves and DH's too, he is very grumpy.

Simply · 06/03/2010 20:42

Hello to all. Sorry I'm not keeping up well with the thread atm. I agree with the suggestion to have a weekly one starting on a Monday with the zone named in the thread title.

If I've got that wrong, ignore me as I have a shocking cold and can't remember my name and where I come from atm!!!

Jas I'm glad to hear that things went okay for your Mum in hospital.

Starbear I need a new shower mat. Our nearest M & S is about an hour away by car and the next nearest is about an hour and a half by train. I do get jealous whenever I think of someone having decent shops nearby. Still, we have the beach and the mountains, I guess!

I'm seriously thinking of raffling "d"h atm, any takers? In the last couple of days he has put several things in the bin or recycling bin which he shouldn't have. I wouldn't mind so much if I wasn't around for weeks on end to ask but I'm either in the house or at the end of my mobile in order to ask! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

My cold is making me very narky, I know. I woke up cross with ds this morning at about 6am as I thought I could hear his alarm clock going off endlessly. It wasn't. It was the birds outside instead. Oooops! I got up and quietly did quite a lot in the kitchen which set me in good stead for the day.

Speaking of ds, I need to iron his shirt ready for tomorrow morning. I'd better do that now. Good night all.

EVye · 07/03/2010 09:24

Hello everyone. I found you

Jas - sorry to hear about your Mum. hopefully the prognosis is good.

Dd1s birthday party yesterday. photos on fb. All went well.

The sun is shining AGAIN so I am in a good mood, despite the fact I have about 10 crafty birthday presents which dd1 wants to make a start on this morning. My control freakery tedencies make it very hard. Yesterday she painted a clay pony purple and green, with a yellow hat, and green jumper. Sigh.
