hello all

swan your bookshelves sound good. Mine are sometimes like that, until DS or DD messes them up!!

Well, woken up with a stonking headache again, third morning in a row. Fed up of codeine! Need more sleep! Couldn't get to sleep again. Think I need a night time routine ... oh, isn't that why I am supposed to be a Flyer ... think I need to go on the Fledgling Fly thread like you, Swan. My sink is very shiny either
DS and DD being very horrid too. DD has had a cold for a fortnight and is very grumpy. DS is just plain horrid! I am sick of the silly noises he shouts out and the general lack of awareness of anyone else. Boys!

Oh dear, Tea, life keeps throwing everything at you lately. Hugs.

it's been doom and gloom here this week. Sister in law and brother in law are splitting up after 4.5 years of marriage - about 6 years together I think. No real reason is apparent but then we don't know what is said behind closed doors. Very sad for SIL as she is 34 on Monday, childless and now partner-less. She must feel very bleak, as she really wants children (it hasn't happened for them, but they haven't explored why).

I have bad stomach ache and am very tired and lethargic. DH is cleaning out the garage before we get a new boiler on Wednesday. Hurrah! It may be warm!

I have been listing on freecycle stuff to come out of the garage lol.

I have a review and a competition on the blog see here

EVye · 27/02/2010 13:57

Hi All

DH away this weekend so having a quiet day with the girls. We've been into town, had lunch in Wimpy and they've had kinder eggs as a treat afterwards. Bought DD1 some new jeans but they look to big - think she's in between sizes for leg length.

Now we're back and DD1 is making me a mothers day card and DD2 is playing fairies & happyland all rolled into one (unusual for her to play independently so making the most of my cuppa).

Tea - sorry, I have missed what happened to your mum. SS cant expect you to be a full time carer, surely? Not with your own health history and the young DCs?

swanriver · 27/02/2010 16:24

TM thank you for reminding of that Psalm

We've had a busy morning
but had lunch out

Starbear · 27/02/2010 16:30

Afternoon all TM looked at your blog. I went back a few days and saw your masking tape idea. Great I will use that. I have no tips in return on how to look after a Mum might need them in the not too distant future. Hope SS can help.
*Evye How lovely that she's making you a card. I know it will be up to the school to get Ds to make a card because I know DH will only run around on Saturday but it the thought that counts I'm not as fussed about Mother's day as I am about Valentine's day.
wendy How sad. If it helps her. Didn't go out with DH until I was 38 yrs, married at 39 yrs had DS at 40 yrs (nearly 41yrs!) Hope for us all.
back with a done list just for me

wendyhappysmile · 27/02/2010 18:41

Very cross. Three Clarks shops had no shoes to fit DD (she has narrow fitting). Went to independent shop who sold me some Start Rite shoes, looked ok was assured they are. She has worn for two hours in the house (i.e. not much walking!) and has a blister and several rub marks!!! I am fed up of the whole shoe saga, it is so stressful, I am always back at the shoe shop returning them and having to get bolshy! Don't know whether to let her wear them Monday and return to the shop with the rub marks apparent or not let her wear them again and they'll just have to take my word that they rub! GRR

OP posts:
swanriver · 27/02/2010 19:03

yes, shoes v stressful, we are the other way "H" fittings, and high insteps.
Definitely take them back on Monday, saying they hurt her (you don't need to wear again) any shop which wants repeat custom will listen to you. That's why kids' shoes cost so much. Sorry about headache.

EV is it Mother's Day soon, another date I've missed

Dh is playing a "lovely board game" with kids, and getting v. irate as they are all cheating.

Makingchanges · 27/02/2010 19:26

Evye - Sounds like a nice day with the girls. I miss Wimpy, used to love going there when I was little, burgers on plates was unusual. IU had one a few years ago at a motorway services and was disappointed.

Wendy - I would just take back to shop without wearing again. No point in hurting feet again.

swan - DD likes to cheat at snap - doesn't matter who 'snaps' she takes the card pile

Hello everyone else

I have had a rubbish day. Been to physio - Looks like my kneecap is twisting and rubbing on the bone to the side of my knee and this is why is is swollen inside my knee and hurting so much. Apparently it is down to overpronating and very very weak hip muscles so when the kneecap is twisting the muscles are pulling down the side of my leg. - upshot is no running, lots of other things i'm not allowed to do and got come basic exercises I have to do and at least 4 weeks of physio to see if there is an improvement. I'm feeling quite sorry for myself today and the physio is painful to try and manipluate my knee and release the tense muscles.

Tried to do the exercises recommended but was too painful after physio so went into bar and had a hot choc and a large slab of chocolate cake which won't help the diet or the weightloss.

Off for tea and to put DD to bed, hopefully back tomorrow in a more positive mood

EVye · 27/02/2010 19:55

Mothers day isnt until 14th. Dont panic.

Starbear · 27/02/2010 20:53

MC Sorry to here your news. I don't run anymore. I like running along the river but the pain afterwards in my hip is just too much I'm also flat footed.
Busy day here but nothing especial. DH is watching the rugby in Richmond. Will come home drunk!!
Going to do a ticking off now.
Beds made
rug in machine
rubbish out
recycling out
D/W empty
Tiny bit in the gym & a little swim
Food shopping
lots of paper work shredded
Played with Ds
tiny hoover of debris
DS's mate for a playdate
Tea for boys and me
Kitchen tidy
D/W reloaded & booted
Toys put away
Now to fold the dry clothes
Yippe for my Saturday night

EVye · 27/02/2010 20:58

MC - I had an arthroscopy and ITB release a few years ago on my knee. Hurt like hell but did help in the long run.

swanriver · 27/02/2010 21:25

oh dear Star, I read that wrong at first, thinking you were having a nice time, till I saw the
still - playdate that was a good thing to have organised, I'm v. impressed, given up socializing at w/e they are much too tiring

MC - my mum had a bad knee for a long time so I know they can be agony, eat plenty of nice relaxing things like choc, and don't fret about the gym at any rate, [sorry I'm very anti-gym

I've had a strange supper of 2 boiled onions(well, oven boiled in skins ifysim) and some raw broccoli; unfortunately this enraged dh, who detests onions.
kitchen is tidy, more bookshelves in dcs' rooms/playroom re-organised into useful sections
going to start a new book!!!have been reading Mumsnet lists for inspiration, dh gave it to me for Xmas (American Wife) but it keeps disappearing into woodwork.

Starbear · 27/02/2010 21:53

Swan It's okay its just I don't get out much! I was never a 'girls night out'sort of person. I'm more dancing till dawn in a foreign beach with someone equally foreign! Or was that a dream!!! I miss my adventures I don't miss being a spinster of the parish so ho! hum! Going to find something on telly and drink tea! (very risky for me as I shouldn't really)

swanriver · 27/02/2010 23:12

Tea just read your blog about your mum properly. It sounds so hard, for her and you. I am very sorry.

Wolfcub · 28/02/2010 08:11

Good morning sorry I haven't been about for a few days so I'm not up on everything that's been going on

tea big hugs I am so sorry your mum is so unwell. Make sure you get all the support that both you and your mum need from soc services etc.

simply I was thinking of the Leeds/York type area, whatever everyone wants really

Wendy I'd suggest taking dd to shaw hallas in Huddersfield if you haven't already, it's near the oxfam bookshop up the little street opposite the front of marks and sparks.

mc I hope the physio starts to help soon

done
up at 5.45 with ds, tried to keep him in my bed to get him back to sleep, gave up at 7.30 and I am black and blue again
rubbish out
milk bottles out
tumble dried (borrowed mum's again) loaded and on
wm unloaded reloaded and on
wet washing hung up
dry washing folded
dry washing up put away
washing up done

just having a cuppa before I make some breakfast for ds and the oven is warming up to make a cake.

wendyhappysmile · 28/02/2010 09:40

Thanks for the tip, Wolf. I am just fed up about shoes!
Swan both mine have the high instep and DS has H width fitting or beyond so I have one of each narrow and wide! LOL

Off to Kirkstall Abbey and museum with mum and dad today, DH is clearing loft ready for boiler being fitted - apparently all the pipes are inaccessible with a) our stuff and b) loft boards! Poor DH

MC Feel for you, how horrible to have such a painful injury.

OP posts:
swanriver · 28/02/2010 09:54

Well done for getting out today Wendy!
Dh has escaped to a film with ds1, I am off to church with others.
It is pouring pouring.
Wolf today we had tiresome fidgety morning sleep interrupter ds2 completely trained not to wake us, sitting in his bed reading to himself from 7.00 but of course then dd was woken by the sound of his gentle mumblings, and came to converse with us far too bright and early And she never wakes us till 8am usually

Starbear · 28/02/2010 10:07

Hello,
Wolf I feel your pain. I didn't sleep very well all night! Then Ds did the same, 5.45am. His bed was wet so I couldn't get into his bed and couldn't be bothered to change it (Big mistake!)elbows, knees & he is a figet. Stripped his bed at 7.30am & put the radio on for him! Went back to bed but I've still got up like a grumpy bear. DH has a hangover so he is a grumpy bear too! Going to take Ds this afternoon so he doesn't have a tough time with two grumpy parents
TM Hope you get some help from the family today. Get family to do as much as they can for you today to free you up in the week.
Wendy I have problems with shoes. One oft he first thing I would do if I won the lottery is to get someone to make shoes for me!
MC Hope the exercises work.
Right off to get dressed and post again with a list.

Starbear · 28/02/2010 10:42

TM Have you seen this competition I would think it was just up your street. I'm going to have a go with Ds. Race ya!
Right to work
Quilt in W/M done
Bed stripped done
My bed made done
D/W empty & reloaded Done
Clothes hourse ready to take quilt done
Still to do
shower & dress
start chicken casserole
More washing & drying
Go out & have fun!!!

swanriver · 28/02/2010 12:22

Star apparently there's a trick which is you make bed up with sheets UNDER the rubber sheet, and then tis easy to strip off in night, all clean and dry underneath
have to admit we had ds1 in drynites till he was about six, we just couldn't face the work of endless sheet washing as well as our other tiring dcs, and then we lifted at 11pm, and finally aged seven I think we couldn't lift him any more he was too heavy and he has never wet the bed since... not sure what that tells you...
