Bosch, Siemens or Miele washing machine - are you happy with yours?

I'll have to kiss my (3yr old) AEG goodbye and resign myself to getting a new machine. Do you have a Bosch, Siemens or Miele (reputedly the're very good) and if so are you happy with it?

I love my Miele so much I've told DH that in case of divorce I want custody of it.

LynetteScavo · 03/02/2010 11:08

My Bosch has happily done at least 2 washes a day (often more) for the past (nearly) 7 years with no problems.

My bosch has been doing a wash a day for three years now. Recently started sounding a bit weird when heating water though. Also, the hole where the powder drawer goes gets black mould which is impossible to remove due to all the nooks and crannies.

sunshineonarainyday · 03/02/2010 11:10

Bosch washing machine here - has been going for 6 years with no probs at all. Usually do at least one wash a day.

northender · 03/02/2010 11:10

Our Bosch has served us well

cece · 03/02/2010 11:21

I have a basic Bosch model and love it. It does at least one load per day and still going strong after 3 and half years. The first two and half years were in a shed in the garden too!

DorotheaPlenticlew · 03/02/2010 11:22

Got new Miele recently - utterly fantastic. Recommend checking the Which? website (can get free trial) - lots of helpful info.

Bramshott · 03/02/2010 11:23

My Bosch washing maching has been going strong for the last 11 years.

My Bosch vacuum cleaner OTOH, is shit.

geekgirl · 03/02/2010 11:27

I have a Bosch and have had a few problems with it over the years - it's now 9 years old and has needed to have a particular part replaced twice (but apparently that part - can't remember what it's called - is a 'consumable'). Cost was £60 incl. labour each time.
Recently it stopped spinning but dh managed to fix it - a wire inside the motor had worked itself loose.
One thing I dislike about it is that it takes absolutely forever to do a normal wash - a good 2.5 hours. I do two washes a day on average...

shushpenfold · 03/02/2010 11:30

Miele every time. Love mine. Very sad woman!

shushpenfold · 03/02/2010 11:30

Me by the way, not you!

Miggsie · 03/02/2010 11:32

Bosch washing machine is 10 years old.
Just replaced the motor brushes and it is still going strong.

maggiethecat · 03/02/2010 11:32

I've heard so much good stuff about Miele that I am tempted to bite the bullet and pay the higher price. Jeeee - you're a bit greedy - I only want the goldfish! which Miele do you have? And you Dorothea?

Bosch does sound good too esp what Cece says about shed - mine would be in garage which gets cold and I understand that some machines don't like the cold.

Miele - having washing machine and tumble drier, and they are fab

maggiethecat · 03/02/2010 11:37

Shushpenfold I'll tell you what sad is - I had just got on top of my washing and ironing - the first time ever - when the machine broke.......that's sad

Bosch w/machine - don't want to jinx it but has worked perfectly for 7 years. Bosch v/cleaner also great.

ArcticRoll · 03/02/2010 11:42

Miele
Think Bosch used to be good but thought that recently their reliable reputation has redcuced

Skegness · 03/02/2010 11:45

Our Miele rocks. It copes with lots in the way of washing and nothing in the way of maintenance.

florenceuk · 03/02/2010 11:48

Have a Bosch but wouldn't recommend it as very soon after purchase the display went (LCD?) and now it's impossible to use the menu. It still works OK but you can't e.g. change the spin setting as you need to actually read the display. Lesson learned - don't get a fancy one with a display!

MrsKitty · 03/02/2010 11:51

We've had our Miele for around 6 yrs now - not a single problem and still doing the job just as well as it was the day we bought it. Not sure of model - will check and report back later. Definitely worth the extra money, and will be replacing the dryer with a miele when the time comes...

orienteerer · 03/02/2010 11:52

I can recommend the John Lewis own brand (actually one of the mainstream brands)

LadyThompson · 03/02/2010 11:55

We are looking for a new one too. I have looked at a Smeg one which I am told is a rebadged Miele...

clayre · 03/02/2010 11:56

ive had my bosch for 18 months, its the cheapest one available, very basic but washes brilliant, doesnt take long and doesnt chew our clothes (my last 2 machines were terrible for shredding clothes)

bobblehat · 03/02/2010 11:59

I've got a miele. It's had no problems, although the quick wash isn't brilliant. I got it about 3 years ago and it came with a 10 year warrentee. Don't know if they still come with that but that alone was worth the extra.

ilovemydogandmrobama · 03/02/2010 12:00

Have a Bosch. Wish i got a Miele.
