Book conversation will have to wait - but I did read something very good recently called Secret Scripture (but v sad too)

Scatty - hope you are managing without dh, I did feel a bit odd last night too, sort of on perpetual alert. But sadly I'm used to him being away on business quite a lot, from the children being v. young.
Scatty think letter probably just means they will give extra help which is always good, but I agree a bit bewildering to get out of blue.

Yesterday went well, singing lesson, long walk, telly, playing, apart from running out of catfood (found something superior for them - but for some reason they do not like casserole )
Dts have done communion homework (what do you like doing with your family as a celebration? ds2 scratches head and comes up with "a train journey"

Off now to various activities, kitchen is v. clean after major declutter yest of bumpf.

Now comm

swanriver · 30/01/2010 08:57

Now communion classes, then music lessons, then Wii I think...

scattyspice · 30/01/2010 09:09

Morning star and swan. star glad the company was good (makes up for rubbish food).

swan I think they are saying he just needs extra help which is a good thing, I don't understand all the jargon though and would like to know whether they think he has an actual problem (like dyslexia) or whether he is just taking longer to learn to read/write (also he is one of the youngest). We do reading most days at home (school books and our own) but he doesn't seem to recognise the words, he 'sounds out' every word so reading is quite labourious and he usually doesn't understand what he has read (so there is no pleasure in it). Perhaps his teacher can give me some other strategies that might help.

Well have woken up to a blanket of snow and glorious sunshine. Have decided against the long drive to Bamburgh in the snow. Will venture out to paper shop in a minute and see whether roads look ok for a shorter trip to Whitley bay lighthouse.

Missing dh . stayed up to watch wife swap last night. it was funny.

Have a good day all. anyone else got snow?

Starbear · 30/01/2010 11:56

Back from the shops Oh! it's sunny but bitter out there. I don't think we are going to have snow.
Holiday booked just in time they are putting the prices up next week.
Boys will be back from Gymnastics any moment now. The oven is on. Pizza for lunch but never again, the price!!!!!
Very little list
make beds
w/m load
get another load sorted
D/W
Ratatouille for dinner
Baked apple for pudding
update next weeks timetable.
have a goodtime everyone.

Swan At least there is help there. My Mum constantly told them about my reading and spelling as it was stressing me out. My head of year just told Mum to get me a dictonary!!!! If you can't figure out how the word starts how can a dictonary help!!! So I would have like the help. Granted a bit of a surprise out of the blue. Good luck. In the end I still a capable person and able to put a roof over my head and feed my family.
maybe go out for a walk by the river later

dylsmum1998 · 30/01/2010 13:19

afternoon all
scatty at snow again! we have sunshine but it is bitterly cold here

unlaod washer
breakfast and lunch
wash up
ds swimming lesson, he has a cold so was struggling a bit today
dd to her first ballet/tap lesson, sh watched today didnt want to join in. but she is talking very postively about it, and how she is going to next week . she sat eating her lunch pointing her toes saying "good toes naughty toes good toes" over and over lol

well had 5 mins distraction so now need to

iron
put ironing away
asda
collct nephew who is stayong over tonight

swanriver · 30/01/2010 14:00

Morning has gone well, lots of running around etc
but now the troops are beginning to revolt and all screaming at each other/slamming doors etc
dd spent most of lunch under the table saying she wanted to magically disappear
ds2 has spent most of lunch forgiving people but now is demanding payment for wrongs

dh is just about to walk in the door to toxic household...aargh

ah well, there's a nice film on this afternoon about a girl befriending a wolf

good luck with Ballet Dylsmum - it is irrestible dancing in a frilly net skirt - hope she joins in next week

Star I can only spell because I am bad at so many other things...I don't think God gives us every talent.
Scatty yes it's that hollow feeling of someone's absence; a friend only changed my mindset on it by telling me that she used to try and turn herself and children into a special team, a team that only existed when her dh was away. She was a Hexham friend actually She said they used to eat different things and do different things together when he wasn't there (they were v. happily married) so that she didn't feel a part of family was missing.

swanriver · 30/01/2010 14:12

now they are all playing nicely (on the stairs - oops]

scattyspice · 30/01/2010 16:00

swan thats a nice idea . we do eat differently (badly) when dh not here as he does all the cooking LOL. He rarely goes away (neither do I), so its strange.

dyl I keep meaning to try ballet with my dd, she does gymnastics because ds does but its not quite as skippy!

wolf lazy day good for you .

star did you get your walk?

I abandoned all hope of getting the car out and dragged DC to papershop on the sledge instead. This afternoon we have had fun drawing and gluing and managed to produce a Grace Darling picture .

Also I have been spending my birthday monet (online). I promised myself a leather bag and some silver jewlery for my 40th birthday. I have bought a lovely slouchy blue sueds bag (big enough for all our stuff0 and a silver necklace (with star pendant) and ring (a flower ). I am pleased as punch .

afternoon all

dp let me have a lovely long lie in

done
chickpeas on the boil to make houmous
washing up done
kitchen surfaces cleaned

aaaaand I weigh under 13 stone for the first time in over 3 years! (and I only weighed under 13 stone then because of morning sickness).

Now for the soppy bit. I've been having a think and, whilst I plan to have a post-wedding hen night with a few friends and family, you are all such a huge part of my life and have been for nearly 4 years that I would feel wrong if you weren't a part of my celebration (not that I am twisting your arms or anything). I also thought that we haven't had a meet up in quite some time and it would be lovely for us all to get together. Soooooo how about a meet up, say at the end of April? Perhaps we could go to the soft play in York that tea found last time. Anyway, let me know what you think.

wendyhappysmile · 31/01/2010 19:23

Star hope soup was yummy, and plans for extension sound good
OFM oh no on leak and vomit! Hope all calmer now
Ruby hi
Tea for your troubles this week. Sure it is just a being 3 thing! Also you will have not have been able to give DS2 as much attention this week with Mum there, don't worry! (be !)
scatty birthday spend sounds great!
everyoneelse hi!
We have had quite a chilled day - cbeebies on internet, bike riding, playing out, pruning shrubs in the way, short nap for me ... very nice.
Just trying to get my head around next week, it's a busy one and I am trying to be productive in the mornings when DD is at nursery. I am finding it hard to adjust and lasty week was miserable and moping around - not missing DD, just feeling guilty for being at home doing nothing except what I normally fit in when she is at home, and bored! Planning more trips out and perhaps a run this week.
See you tomorrow ladies
