Right, DH did eventually get home last night. He was stuck due to a bus that had skidded at the bottom of the bank and closed the road, all the fellas got out and pushed it in the end.

He was prepared and had boots, fleezes, water and ceral bars in his car, as I do in mine. I really want to ensure that you do to.

He is not going in today, but school is open - woohoo. I have an extra child this evening. I have offered to have a friends Little boy who is the same age as MaxiMad every Friday till 6. We started before Christas and it has been no bother!!

DH is going to take Maxi to schoolthis morning, I really need some shopping, as the forcast is worse for the weekend. I will be leaving it till this afternoon though

swanriver · 08/01/2010 09:34

Scouts Survival camp LOL

TM - Glad your dh is working from home today.
Wendy - hope your dd is feeling better today, and you can both wrap up and stay quiet

Good morning here in that Ds2 added another 3 sentences to his homework with enthusiasm, dd was v. organised and persuaded Dad to take her to school, and we all slept till 8.00am.
Bad morning in that our cat has peed on ds2 duvet, ds2 wet his bed anyway, and enemy cat got in and had a fight with ours because I put catflap on wrong setting so dh very cross about that.

So whole house smells horrid

Now need to do some work with ds1 and possibly do some housework while he concentrates

Starbear · 08/01/2010 09:39

Morning all Morning TM Thanks for the thread and glad DH got home safely. Morning OFM Hole in your bucket!dear Henry. I don't think buckets get fixed any more do they. Survival camp, it's a shame they couldn't do the day time stuff in the snow and then come home to a warm bath & bed!
Right, I'm off to make beds and gets some breakfast and I'll think a bout what can be done today. Little Bear is at school so mind is free to think.
Have downloaded photos from Christmas party and I really, really need to lose weight But I'll start next week to hard to think about it until back in normal routine.

EVye · 08/01/2010 09:40

Hi All.

Still no school here.

DD1 on puter, DD2 watching TV. I've had a quick tody up although we have people come here to play later so it will be trashed. I am running out of kiddy snacks. Any ideas? The kids always seem to be hungry.

DH going to shop on way home from work tonight as we are down to last loaf of bread and last litre of milk - eek! Have lots of frozen chips though

Starbear · 08/01/2010 09:42

X-post Morning swan & dyls What is mse buget thing I could do with that. have you got any other downloadable budget spreadsheets/ Which are the best? I do need to watch the pennies at the mo. if I combine it with a diet it should work Ha! Ha!

swanriver · 08/01/2010 09:45

hi I am ds1, my name is samuel and I am going to work hard on king james literacy this morning
what I REALLY want to do is look up Thunderbirds themetune by busted. for any of you who like docter who,the new companion is amy pond. but i miss david tennant

a motivational posting from ds1 himself (Swan)

EVye · 08/01/2010 09:47

Hello Swan's DS1 I am sure you can find something interesting about King James - here you go for starters

dylsmum1998 · 08/01/2010 09:53

star mse budget planner
you fill in what you spend on a yearly basis and see how well you stick to your budgets. i filled it in and found i am (just!) staying within my budgets, but i estimated a lot of things as i don't keep a record of my spending. as i have a few things i want to save for at the moment i would like to have somewthing i fill in each time i spend, so i can see exactly where i waste money. then work out how and where i can reaslitically cut back- does that make sense??

EV mine are allowed free rein on the fruit bowl. they are also lucky that they got too many selection boxes etc at christms. i don't normally let them have as much choc but it has been allowed whilst we are mainly housebound. well if they eat it its less clutter

Swan hope you get the cat smell out- it can be a major bugger

Cygnet (swans ds1) hope you get your literacy done this morning. maybe you'll be allowed some time to look up busted after you have finished?? I havent seen any of the new doctor who yet, i love it but dd is scared and it is always shown when she is awake

EVye · 08/01/2010 10:08

dylsmum - I only have 2 apples left and dd2 just ate the last 2 yoghurts. eek.

dylsmum1998 · 08/01/2010 10:11

ev oh no! do you have any ingrediants to make cookies/ cakes etc in cupboard?

Starbear · 08/01/2010 10:33

Thank you dyls have just looked at the 'WHICH' website re insulation. If I want that done I'll have to save money for it. Also want some sun this year so saving for a real holiday as it rained on us camping in Croyde & at my aunt's in N. Spain (The place to go if you can't stand the heat but like Spain)
to Swan's Cygnet. Yep the sooner you start the sooner you finish. That includes my presentation!
Right
beds made
D/W empty
breakfast in tummy
bits of clothes folded.
To do
Load W/M
spend 15 mins in ds's room tidying one corner (can't really do a lot as I will need to go to charity shops and the dump)
hoover Ds's room.
Go out for more supplies
Order more uniform for Ds
Dinner? Pasta with bacon & courgettes (a la Sainsbury advert 15 yers ago) V. quick
What are we having over the weekend?????
Need to decide now really.
Stay safe out there folks

Tortoiselookingforwardto2010 · 08/01/2010 10:38

Morning all.
I need to go out and brave the ice to get dog food. Now i normally take the old stroller to get the food home (massive, v heavy bag!) but not sure if i can push it in this! I carried it the 1st time i bought a bag and was nearly in tears it was so heavy! Add icy paths to that and i am not sure what to do.

House looks like a bomb site! Kids still home. Managed to get them to tidy toys up in the front room. Now need to make myself clear up mess!!!

Starbear · 08/01/2010 10:44

Morning Tort invest in a shopping trolly (okay I'm on a crusade re trollys) brought my last one for £14 in some cheap (dare I say it) Indian run, have everything shop. I'm off now with mine I'll get back to you on how I did. How about a backpack?

Tortoiselookingforwardto2010 · 08/01/2010 10:47

Bag of food wouldn't fit in either of those. It is a 15kg bag. Shame we don't have a sledge!

swanriver · 08/01/2010 12:11

Would the dogfood shop keep half behind the counter so that you can take half the dogfood now (in a double binliner), and come back for the rest? or is it a supermarket Shopping trolleys are v.good, but get a big one, otherwise they are just uncontrollable when you put too much in

I've had a most exciting morning finding about the hist of Bible - Ds has finished his literacy exercises and gone to potter around.
EV - you are to blame.
Ds1 was only doing literacy not hist, just a comprehension passage (set by school), so not researching anything, and tbh I hadn't even noticed the bit about the King James Bible (doh-me)
All the puter sites are ravingly anti-Papist I am so ill-informed I didn't know about Tyndale or the Geneva Bible but now I do

What do they teach us in these schools snippets snippets snippets

I have made some bread dough it is proving
unloaded dw
dry laundry upstairs
more sheets on
more hung out

now need lunch (leftover mash) and a walk with ds1

P>S. thanks for cygnet hellos! He was delighted, not usually reading your posts you will be relieved to hear....

scattyspice · 08/01/2010 12:37

Morning .

LOL swans ds1. I miss David Tennant too .

Still can't get my car off the estate. Struggled to school with Ds and DD and DDs friend, very cold snowy walk then juggled buses and metros again. Must try to dig car out over the weekend and leave it somewhere accessible. Dh is going to try and get food later .

dylsmum1998 · 08/01/2010 12:41

tort hope you manage to sort out something re dog food. could you buy a smaller bag just until the weather is better. don't how easy this is as only have small pets

Swan glad ds inished his work

have finished my short list for this morning, except washng th ekitchen floor will do that this evening when have finished cooking etc in there otherwise it will be dirty again within minutes.

just waiting for dd to finish eating her lunch then we are off out sledging again, meeting friend and her 2 dds as well at oark today

am off to start getting ready

swanriver · 08/01/2010 12:42

I can't get my car out either, completely frozen, still need another AA visit, but don't really want to ring them when they are so busy.
We are lucky we don't use it for anything important. All the newspapers are full of 4-wheel drive adverts, cashing in on people's misery.

dylsmum1998 · 08/01/2010 12:42

x posts Scatty hello

EVye · 08/01/2010 12:45

swan - I didnt ACTUALLY read any of the link and had a terrible thought there may be something inappopriate after I posted it, then I had a power cut so I couldnt back track.

dylsmum - I have no self-raising flour. I do have plain flour eggs caster sugar and choc chips. can i do anything with them

dylsmum1998 · 08/01/2010 12:56

could try this recipe from here

and add the choc chips if you want to make them choc chip biscuits.

Tortoiselookingforwardto2010 · 08/01/2010 13:06

Managed with the little buggy in the end. Mostly ice so not to bad. Very slippery!

Going to watch a DVD in a bit with kids. Have toffee popcorn!
