oh yes...no missions tis the weekend !

Have awoken in suprisingly jolly mood - depite having drunk 3/4 bottle of wine last night
Possibly helped by the fact I slept in till 9.30 and was then woken with a plate of poached eggs, grilled bacon and toast from DH-isn't he great LOL

Have few bits todo today..but not too bad...going to try and have fun with dc LOL

Quick list:
Email Toysrus re missing order???
Reboot laundry
Ring Mum
Bathrooms
Persuade DC to tidy rooms
Hoover upstairs
Bake: mince pies,Christmas biscuits
book penny bowling for one day next week
Find nice Christmassy film on TV to watch later with popcorn!

OK...must get on

We are late risers here too.
Put ds2 FIRMLY back to bed when he woke at 7.30 - think they eventually slept till 8.30-9.00am

You stole my breakfast OFM
anyway it didn't appear...

I deep tidied from 10.00 to Iam last night (always a mistake)to make room for Xmas tree today and got rid of various piles in front room. Then spent ages searching for cats, putting out food compost, throwing away stuff from fridge.

So it is nice and tidy this morning, but I feel a bit grumpy, apprehensively waiting for someone to complain about something so that I can bite their head off

Oh he's back

swanriver · 19/12/2009 10:50

Oh and managed to send two more presents to godchildren yest by phone order, so very relieved aboutthat - I have another one to post today
one has gone to Maldives so doesn't need a present imo (well not till Jan) and the last three - local christmas market may have good things today.

So present wise I needtofinish

Makingchanges · 19/12/2009 11:07

Morning all

OFM - I'm near Crystal Peaks in Sheffield. You aren't in Sheffield as well are you?

Well I have a hairdressers appointment today so I'm finishing off writing Xmas cards this morning so that DD and DH can go delivering whilst I'm having my hair done.

Also got to

Check all banking done before Xmas - I always miss paying something and then with the holidays it gets superlate.
tidy living room up for Tree. DD keeps telling me that we are the only people in the world without ours up. Probably feels like that for a 4 year old.
DD off to GPs tonight so spending the evening wrapping her presents whilst she is out of the way
Try and find a secret Santa gift for DH's work - Not sure why they hae left it so late or why I'm doing the shopping but there you are
Sort out childcare for next Monday
Do a clean out of the freezer so that I can put somethings in there that haven't been there since before DD -May then have some room for some xmas stuff
A couple of loads of washing
File away books and notes from my interview prep last week as DH is fed up of piles of books apparently

Think that will do for today. BBL

swanriver · 19/12/2009 12:15

Done
lovely family breakfast cooked by dh - bacon and eggs
dcs have arranged their piano slots to stop arguments over who gets to practise when
casserole cooked for lunch/tea not sure
dh has cleared breakfast and taken twokids out again to get newspaper
and i STIll need to get dressed and get to PO with second son, and see Christmas market [excited - we've never had proper one before locally]

MC - stay smiling, and we haven't put up our tree yet; enjoy hairdresser too. Don't think I'm going to get there this year, unless dh is desperate to get me out of house...that may still happen if I get grumpier

Oh Ruby I'm sure your friend will love it.

Back from hair appointment and managed to find DH's secret Santa gift (I hope) whilst out as well.

Have also bought an address book as I have been on phone to MIL to get all DH's relatives addresses to post cards to - arrgghh

DD is packed up for tonight and xmas cards have been posted - DH and DD are currently driving round Sheffield, Barnsley and Rotherham delivering close-by ones (thing its DH's way of getting out of other jobs)

Right off to do more jobs - Just stopped for a festive mince pie for teabreak - yumyum

wendyhappysmile · 19/12/2009 16:07

Rubes sure your friend will love that, it is very thoughtful.
Busy day unfortunately
DC went with MIL to local Nat Trust to see Santa etc
DH and I went to Tesco, got all the Xmas stuff we couldn't get locally - will get rest of Xmas food at Lidl hopefully Tuesday
Managed to get a gift from DS to DD (very large doll LOL) and finish off DD and DS - Lego star wars and Sylvanian family stuff as requested on every visit to Santa, letter to Santa and mentioned at every opportunity And we thought we'd finished their Xmas presents in November LOL
Also picked up last two presents for family, just have fudge, chocs etc to make for family and friends.
DC now watching Finding Nemo under duvets eating popcorn! DH trying to fix his car. It broke yesterday - brake cables frozen or something.
Typical always at Xmas.
Anyway, we're all ok and I'm rattling on so better get busy. Shopping to put away, tea to make, mince pies to make too, Xmas cake to do!
BBL

swanriver · 19/12/2009 16:14

MC - my dcs love putting things through letterboxes - so quite a good way for your dh to entertain dd

I am feeling much less stressed now having bought last presents with dcs at local bazaar and v. reduced new Clarks trainers for dcs from market stall. And final batch of stamps etc - no queues at PO, my lucky day! Posted two packets as well.

We are decorating tree calmly
Disastrous moment earlier when tree was discovered to be naturally leaning.

I have realised Xmas is not about plannning.
It is about putting up with things going awry, with generosity of spirit
Most things that can go wrong, will.

swanriver · 19/12/2009 16:18

x-post.
That's what my dts always want too! Not sure whether we can fit in any more furry friends...whereas outer space has managed get a foothold.

Simply · 19/12/2009 16:55

Hello all and thanks for the thread overflowing.

I had a nightmare last night about a horse (I think I was tempted to buy it! What would dh say?) and taking my (ex) work colleague to get her Christmas tree and then she buzzed off without telling me to the next door farm where the horse was. All very odd!

Dh, ds and I went to town today to do food shopping in the large Christmas Farmers' Market and bits and pieces in town. It was very snowy and slushy. Ds and dd went sledging with friends and dh and I walked the dog along the beach. Said dog is now drying nicely and dropping sand all over the house!

We bought a pie from the Farmer's market and I'd better crack on and cook that with veg for tea. I've put a bottle of white wine in the fridge. [tut, tut]

Does anyone want a diary as I have another one I don't need? I'm happy to pay the postage to anywhere in the UK. The week is on 2 pages (Mon to Weds on left page and Thurs to Sun on right page) and there are two "Priorities This Week To Do" boxes on each right hand page.

Back later perhaps. Have a good evening everyone.

scattyspice · 19/12/2009 17:26

Hi all.

Been to Ldl, written Christmas cards, delivered cards to neighbours, visited elderly neighbour, been for snowy walk, watched scooby doo the movie. Phew.

I'm going to sign off now til after Christmas.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE
.

ImdreamingofaGROUCHYxmas · 19/12/2009 17:36

There's 3 bottles in mine Simply

Hello ALL

Last night I went on DH's Xmas night out. A meal in a Japanese restaurant and a few more drinks in the pub. It's fab he's working with a bunch of really great people but it must mean that it's me and Ed who stress him out

So, raw fish and seaweed is very nice and sake dangerously easy to swig DH was the worse for wear this morning so I got up with Ed (who had moved into our bed last night) and

Made coffee
Fed cats
Load and run DW
Empty WM
Start brekkie
Make more coffee (and take one to DH)
Wash and meds
Finish brekkie and serve
Tidy away
Take Ed for Optician appointment (he has to go next week as he wasn't giving accurate info Long talk about the difference between needing and wanting glasses)
Home, general laundry tasks
DH to football, me and Ed for the afternoon
Make a late lunch early tea thing
Load DW and run
Feed cats (again, ravanous felines)
Clean kitchen table
empty DW
Put away

Done most things today so the hovel is acceptable. I'm starting to feel a bit festive now

Simply · 19/12/2009 18:49

grouchy and overflowing I'm on my way! I have had two small glasses with my tea, though, and dh is reminding me of units and suchlike! No more for me until tomorrow, though. And I must be a lightweight as I keep making typing errors despite being a touch typist! [eeek!] See you tomorrow!

Simply · 19/12/2009 18:53

I must be being really good atm as this is the first Dec that I can think of that I haven't placed a big Boden winter sale order.

Dh keeps saying that he hasn't bought me a Christmas present yet. I don't think he is actually going to do anything about it, though. [grrrr] We'll see! His is an autobiography signed with Christmas wishes to him by name by the author who I happened to see when I popped to the National library to do some family history research. A lucky coincidence that I happened to be there that day!

TeaMonster · 19/12/2009 21:52

We nearly, very nearly got stuck in the car in the snow. a 20 min journey took 3 hours!!!

swanriver · 19/12/2009 23:11

Hope you are safely in bed now TM - I'm glad you are not still out there - that must have been frightening.

just pottering around trying to make spinach butternut squash and potato gnocchi for brother and SIL to lunch tomorrow. Not quite got the right ingredients, but will perservere

Dh has just said I must leave kitchen messy once I've finished preps - so not grumpy and tired tomorrow
our Christmas Tree looks very very beautiful and we've started putting presents under it.
Tomorrow two batches of relatives for two meals.

Hello to all. So far today I've had a lazy lie in to make up for the nightmare I had last night then dd and I went swimming. Dd is adamant she is going to make pancakes so she is. Off to help dh put string up to hold Christmas cards. Back later!

Makingchanges · 20/12/2009 14:34

Afternoon all

We have had a lovely lie in this morning as managed to make a spare of the minute reservation at our fave italian restaurant last night (NO presents wrapped though). I think I had a little to much wine

Had a good morning out getting last few bits. DD should be going to a christmas party this afternoon but the snow has really started to settle here now so don't think i'm going to risk it. DH has gone out for an appointment and taken his thick boots with him in case it gets worse.

Hope everyone is safe and warm and enjoying the snow.

BBL

Makingchanges · 20/12/2009 14:36

OFM - I know Treeton, yes you aren't far at all. I have a few friends who live in Treeton.

Tea - Glad you got home ok

ImdreamingofaGROUCHYxmas · 20/12/2009 15:18

Hello again ALL

It's snowing in the Heavy Woolen district. I'll send virtual hot choccy with marshmallows to Wolf Wendy and Knickers I'll end some to Tea too as she had her 3 hellish hours on the road. That reminds me of why I don't drive and why we don't own a car

BTW tea I've mailed you*

I started a job this aft and I really wish I hadn't. It needed doing but...I've sorted out Ed's wardrobe and drawers! EEK. He has tons of stuff and plenty of it Captain Chunky has outgrown! He now has a ton of stuff that fits but needs ironing. Better get that started.
