TM damn and blast that plumber who didn't dothe last washer.
It is the lttle things that screw everything up isn't it

I've had a good night, but come down to mess and muddle.
ds1 is screaming at me in a rage he always waits till weekend to do this???
Dh has taken kids to buy a tree after various irritations with people appearing in unsuitable shorts
Taken sheets off our bed and done a big whites wash

Tasks to do while he is out.

Make soup from mouldering watercress
Washup three pots and pans
Chop veg for long awaited stirfry
sweep floor
mop topcat antics
wipe worktops

Tree has been bought
decoration rage narrowly avoided
tree in shed blocking bikes [frustration]
decs hidden for now n study [thnk about them after lunch]
2 dcs and dh in the loft are enough excitement for today I think

muddy veg prepped now eatingssausages from local market and parsnips carrots and pots from our veg box
watercress soup simmered

ds1 taken for a walk by dh on crutches to buy TV guide - a sure way to get him out of house

SOME MATHS DONE [VERY PLEASED WITH MYSELF]

Now what I really want to do today is

make more xmas biscuits
bake some beautiful tealoaves
prepare buttered leeks for freezer
take rubbsh to tip
listen to xmas music
sort out shed
make creative plans for after school with kids next week instead of resorting to telly as a winddown.

one thing off this list would make my day really

Hi Ruby Hi Swan Hi StAnne
Had a hectic morning, somehow.
DS has a cough and isn't too well - hot, pale, lethargic. So no plans really for today.
My parents coming for tea thus spent all morning cooking. Always a pita tbh as my dad is wheat intolerant, and lives off meat and two veg, my mum doesn't like spices, rice, pasta ... and we are vegetarian! LOL. So I always end up cooking up a storm to please everyone, it can never just be simple throw it all together.
We all slept in til 9.30 which meant that there has been lots of catching up to do.
Need to:
do some shopping for veg for tea
go for a walk outside!
clear the dining table!!
Vac the rug and porch and stairs!
sweep the floors
tidy up - house a real tip!

See you later

swanriver · 12/12/2009 13:53

It feels a bit like that everytime we have a family meal LOL Wendy don't even have to ask my parents...ds1 doesn't like rice, ds2 doesn't like potatoes, dh doesn't like any kind of windy veg..or anything stewed - and dd just has a tantrum whenever she sits down

Done
washing x 2 I load out to dry
2 course lunch of excellent quality
dealt with irrational family members
remembered I was feeling PMTish and adjusted my stress levels
little ones laid the table for me and helped prepare veg dishes
swept kitchen floor

dh has gone on ANOTHER walk with little ones..
now dw, rescue ds1 from upstairs again,, compost recycling, floor mopping, sweeping of hall and frontroom

Afternoon all

Wendy - that sounds like a lot of cooking. Hope everyone enjoys it.
Tea - Hope the plumber can sort everything out and insurance gets sorted quickly.

Well me and DD are having a girlie day in as DH has gone on a xmas day and night out tonight. She has decided she wants a pj day and as I have loads to do, i'm letting her. She's also just scoffed a chocolate muffin that I bought to enjoy on our lazy day so shes got choccie covered pjs.

Today I have to
wash approx 3 loads of washing
strip and wash beds that didn't get done in week
get a black bag and go around each room throwing away obvious rubbish.
paperwork, paperwork, paperwork
finish last lot of xmas shopping online

So far have
been and got shopping
took back trousers that too big and bought right size - this is good as I have gone down a size - bad cos I've just eaten a choccie muffin
made dinner for all
played doctors with dd and new doctors kit

Hi all. I'm having trouble keeping up (with everything).

I am of those putting up Christmas Trees, won't be til next weekend for us now .

Had a Kirsty moment this aft and made salt dough decorations with Dc (the tree is going to need reinforcing I think as they have turned out a little chunky). Also ran madly round the house crisis cleaning .

Hope everyone is hanging on in there.

OverflowingFestiveMum · 12/12/2009 22:52

StAnne · 13/12/2009 10:03

Morning All Should be the shower but hey!
scatty We were going to put up the tree yesterday evening but just ran out of daylight to cut the bottom of the tree. Like OFM Ds very annoyed with his parents for drink too much wine that we didn't get the tree sorted (1 half glasses is too much for me!) Unlikely to put it up today as we have 4 adults and 3 children over for Sunday Dinner! So we might work our way through it during the week!
I need to figure out how to make those salt dough decorations to make it up to DS. tell me where I can get the info pls.

swanriver · 13/12/2009 10:04

We use lots of bricks to keep our tree from
toppling over Scatty

ImdreamingofaGROUCHYxmas · 13/12/2009 11:37

Hello again ALL

scattyspice · 13/12/2009 12:40

OverflowingFestiveMum · 13/12/2009 16:53

afternoon all

had horrible afternoon....went to get tree...picked out one which was nice, and within budget...dd1 starts moaning and stropping that it wasn't big enough...
so I was telling her off(maybe shouldnt have...but I was irritated, she always seems to want more/bigger/better etc) so was telling her the tree was fine ...to be less demanding, more grateful ect and this woman(total random stranger) comes out of the shop behind us,sticks her face right in front of me and starts going on at me that I should be ashamed of myself, that I am surrounded by beautiful Children and I should stop telling them off and just give them the Christmas they deserve...

I am so upset.I know it's stupid..but I cant stop crying....

This Christmas has been such a financial struggle...and I am trying so hard to make it a happy fun time for the children, and now I just feel lke the worst Mum in the world...

may be back when I've stopped crying....

ImdreamingofaGROUCHYxmas · 13/12/2009 17:31

OFM what an awful experience who the expletive deleted does she think she is? You are an amazing lady and a fantastic mum. Ignore her, she was so very wrong.

wendyhappysmile · 13/12/2009 19:08

OFM You are a fab fab mum and this woman was STUPID and RUDE. please please please just try to ignore her! People like that just get on my wick, they don't realise the effect they have on us wonderful mums and our insecurities. If you weren't a wonderful mum you wouldn't be upset! Poor you.

hi everyone else. Just back from the zoo, seen Santa. DD was sick on the way, managed to miss the sick bucket first time (yuk) and DS had a tantrum about sick on his books and leapster.
Joy.

OverflowingFestiveMum · 13/12/2009 19:44

grouchy wendy thanks
feeling calmer....these things do prey on our insecurities though don't they...and I am a sucker for a good helping of Mummy guilt!
And yes...she was such a RUDE person...who goes up to another family and starts telling them what to do???? I would like to see her managing Christmas with 6 dc...as DH said she looked like she was straight off back down the pub!!

Anyway...tree up and looking twinkly...decorated by dc so overflowing and not co-ordinating...but lovely

Have made 3 dozen Christmas fairy cakes for various school parties next week....

Now going to plan rest of my baking schedule for Christmas....am doing lots of homemade pressies this year so need to be organised...

House a mess...washing in crisis....will catch up tomorrow....

Did have lovely morning at Doggy training....we all went, and DH took DC to playground...then all had mince pies and coffee at end of session....doggy did well ...bless her...

wendy poor dd...hope they enjoyed Santa
grouchy glad concert was good
swan enjoy dd concert
TM hope water situation is getting sorted
scatty stAnne Christmas trees seem to attract trouble....may be better off without one LOL

everyone-else Hi!
