StAnne · 05/12/2009 11:14

BiancaCastafiore Love the dress go for it. The dress I wore last night was from Monsoon very long and a patterned (big flowers)in cream, grey and black. I really have got value for money out of it as I've worn it about 6-7 times in 3 years.
Right must crack on when the nurofen kicks in!
Make beds
fold clothes (still in dryer creased)
Put D/W
Wash big Pot (its bigger than my sink)
Lunch (bagels)
Dinner Paella I think (or my version of Paella)
I can't think what else
Babysitting later for friend.
I'm sure other things need doing

TeaMonster · 05/12/2009 11:37

well, it's the weekend so I have

Posted a Xmas card to BF in Australia
Ordered the Xmas turkey
Checked the washing that's drying in the attic (still soggy wet (boo))
Cluttercleared my Outlook inbox (300+ messages is not good)
Chatted with DGM

DH is at football, Ed at MILs, It is ruddy cold so I am hiding under the duvet and might get some rest.

Hello to all

swanriver · 05/12/2009 14:50

What helpful grannies you all have - it should be granny toasting weekend!

My mum has just told me that she has lost 12Ibs in last two weeks on a rigorous arthritis diet

morning better than usual due to unusually tidy house (neglecting ds1 yest worked wonders
although dh was grumbling Ihadn't laid breakfast [???]
DONE
sparkly birthday greetings
dw
made Moroccan lamb/chickpea casserole for lunch with boiled potatoes (not very authentic)but wunderbar
shopped with dd for Little Drummer Boy outfit, and Angel costume
exchanged library books
tidied up lunch and washed up everything

now waiting for kids to return from fresh air to make a cake with me, for dh - think some kind of strawberry cheesecake.

He wimped out on the biscuits [c/f], but he DID put up a Christmas decoration
and I thnk he's quite looking forward to going to a party this evening by himself and striding out of the house serenely, without me hopping around waving frilly dresses at him. I just want to sit and watch the Waltons. He has bought me series 4.

OFM - lie low as long as you possibly can, because that is the only way to get rid of chest infections - poor you. And lots of red chilli and garlic. It must be a busy week for your dh too and thus even more tiring for you.

TM - we need you on this thread.
Wolf - did you finish invites?
StAnne - there is always something else. And it is always later than you think.

Good afternoon everyone. I have read the thread but my head seems to be being very sieve like today so I won't do individual messages.

I started my cards this morning (!) but I then had to take ds to an appointment. Dh got in on the act then and used the table (which was covered in cards, stamps and address books) so I couldn't, and now it is about 6 hours later and I've only written about 3 cards! Dh has finished his, though, so that's something. I've got to go in an hour to collect dd and I need to prepare tea so I can't see me doing many more today. Oh, well!

Back later if I can.

swanriver · 05/12/2009 16:52

Made a baked cheesecake (unfortunately bottom layer has risen up
Dh, dd and I have made Hama Xmas tree decorations, a bow, a flower and a Xmas tree the boys just want to read comics alas

Now I've got to face the loft - somewhere in there are the decorations. Even if we don't put them up till mid Dec, I need to know where they are. And I suspect there are loads of Xmas cards too. And a seasonal oilcloth.
I will report back.

OP posts:
swanriver · 05/12/2009 17:13

Found lots of useful things in dreaded loft.
Ds1's winter coat [ahem], my winter coat, all my winter cardigans, reindeer oilcloth, lots of Xmas cards, Xmas stories and wrapping paper.
Decs located but will leave for now.

Now need to go and buy some tinned/bottled cherries for cake as recipe dictated.

OP posts:
swanriver · 05/12/2009 17:37

drat - only cherry jam to be had, but now spreading reindeer oilcloth for a birthday tea
bb Sunday when I've written some Xmas cards
Simply - I am going to do ten by tomorrow, I promise.

OP posts:
StAnne · 05/12/2009 18:01

Just popped in before tea which is instant frozen Breaded Fish Peas and jacket pots.
DH went for a walk and I asked him to get some christmas cards hoping he would get something nice. Of course not he got the cards I told him I hated modern picture of our town with a layer of snow yukky! he'll have to send them to his mates then. 20 of them just awful. Why do men never listen

Simply · 05/12/2009 22:37

swan You are funny! What's a reindeer oilcloth, pray? Something to keep a reindeer warm and dry in the winter?

I'm feeling (and I know it's daft) sorry for myself. I've written a good few cards with a note inside most cards on the opposite side from the greeting, so I was feeling pleased with myself until I checked that I was about a third of my way through (I was planning to come on here and brag!) only to find that I'm not even a quarter of the way through!

I've been taxi driver Numero Uno today as dh has a cold and hasn't been off the premises today (most unusual for him.) I, however, have been to town 4 times with the kids, picking up and dropping off and the dog still needs to be walked. I'm waiting for ds to arrive home first, though. One word:- teenagers. Be warned!

swan Was it a German cake recipe? I find Lidl or Aldi useful for cherries in jars, if you have either of those near you.

StAnne So that they never get asked to do anything ever again, I'm afraid!

See you tomorrow.

StAnne · 06/12/2009 09:18

Simply So true. Off to Mum's soon she is feeling poorly. Then get back to look after Godaugther & cook for friends. Laters..

Simply · 06/12/2009 09:48

Morning all.

I've counted how many people are left on my list and it is 62. Yikes. I've done 12 so far. Thank goodness I decided not to do homemade ones this year even if I have got all the bits and pieces I need. In primary school I used to have parents coming up to me to say how much their ds or dd had enjoyed receiving a homemade card from my ds or dd. I wonder if we used to get on other parents' nerves!

I will crack on with my cards later but for now I'm going to shower and dress and sort out the kitchen. Oh, dearie dearie me! (You can't see my kitchen but suffice to say I'd be given extra special help and attention if FLYlady could see it now!)

swanriver · 06/12/2009 10:38

Simply - LOL -yes tis no use cutting corners with Reindeer
cherries onthe other hand - jam worked fine..
we have Polish shops and a distant Lidl, but our local shop (5 mins walk) is Turkish

Ds2 has gone to church in his Little Drummer Boy outfit - as he seem reluctant to take it off. The other dcs are still at home as ds1 seem to now have a chesty cough. The boy down the road has come to play, not sure what they are up to.

Last night dh had a great time at the party, and then we had two glasses of Prosecco when he came home (as it was his birthday and gossiped till late. We need to have our OWN party, but couldn't decide whether we could bear to have it at a time of day when people bring their kids. All our friends have three dcs so it is bedlam when they come too. Fun but bedlam.
Now I am feeling that strange not quite hung over but slightly spaced out sparkling wine feeling.

Two xmas missions for today: 10 cards
find, iron and fold any tablecloths and napkins that are lurking

OP posts:
swanriver · 06/12/2009 10:57

Oh dear - really can't think straight this morning be gone ye fizzy/fuzzy thoughts

TO DO
self-imposed xmas missions
hang out laundry
dress and wash ds1 and bring him downstairs

do some craft with dd (have found all sorts of nice green/red wool and red material upstairs in my Xmas bag + several cardboard tubes)
cook stirfry for lunch - take out ds1 briefly and buy eggnoodles

sweep back garden of dead leaves
sweep front garden of dead leaves

that's enough for now [impossible list]
