a mate of mine does.
I treat mine more as a n arhcalogical survey - a month's worth of fluff, hair, coinage go gos and illicit pepperami wrappers .

i more or less do though if i'm in a hurry i might just check it and then ignore if Fluffage isn't too bad...but yes, it only takes a second on my one.... some are more faffy tho?

Yep. I didn't at first as I had no idea about the filter thingy in the door. I just used to pick out the obv stuff in the rim. Then my cleaner showed me what had collected!

I actually like doing it. Sad? Moi? Oh yes indeed.

I clean round the small filter in the door after each use - only because it will otherwise stick to the clothes as I remove them anyway. I was blissfully unaware of the huge filter within the door until I noticed it wasn't working very efficiently and on closer inspection discovered enough fluff in the door to stuff a large cushion. I now just let it build up to small cushion size.

lol do you have a LOT of cushions?
do you all wash the outside of your washing machies too?
Mine is in garage so is a bit neglected

My washing machine is washing itself at the moment. Washed the dogs blankets this morning so machine gets a empty wash on 90 and then a wash with vinegar on 90 and then a wipe around the rim before I will wash our stuff.

DH looks at me. I am odd.

It's important to do it regularly cos it can become a fire hazard but every time does seem a bit excessive to me.

YES!! It actually happened to my cousin - luckily her dryer is kept in her garage otherwise....

I clean it out every time - always did, but now i know im not being daft!

Apparently you can make good firelighters by combining the fluff with candlewax - but i havent gone that far...yet!

Yes, I defluff after I've finished drying and then put the fluff outside on the bird stand for them to take to line their nests. Because I'm nice and kind like that

I do mine most times its used too.

Then put it in the compost bin, never thought about the birds.

Yes, because it's a condenser dryer and it doesn't seem to dry things as well if I don't.

My fluff is only blue if I have been doing darks. It's all pink and pretty and occassionally glittery after lights

tis wildly inefficienty not to, and the cost enough to run as it is.

I rarely clean the outside though as washer and dryer are stacked in an alcove with doors so no bugger sees them except me

I like to leave it so it becomes a solid mass as its lovely to peel off. I like to think about all the things you could make with it.

Mine has a little light that comes on telling me when to defluff.

A mum at DD1's school didn't clean hers and it caught fire, they all had to be evacuated out of the loft window, that is her, her DH, her 3 yr old DS and her 20 month old DD.
The firemen told her that tumble dryers are a hugely common cause of house fires. Their advice (and yes it's copied and pasted, but google tumble dryer fires...)

We are asking occupants to take a few steps to ensure that they use their tumble dryers in a safe way which are -

• Never overload the tumble dryer
• Never leave it on whilst you are in bed or go out
• Do not set the programme too long
• Clean the filters regularly
