a mate of mine does.
I treat mine more as a n arhcalogical survey - a month's worth of fluff, hair, coinage go gos and illicit pepperami wrappers .

Yes I do.

belgo · 03/12/2009 15:39

yes every time, it just takes a spark for it to catch fire.

ceres · 03/12/2009 21:29

yes i do. i didn't for ages though, only started when we had fire safety training at work and the fireman delivering the training told us that tumble driers had overtaken chip pans as the leading cause of fires. apparantly not as many people have chip pans any more and i suppose more people have tumble driers.

have been a bit paranoid since and never leave the drier on if we are out or overnight. and am obsessed with cleaning the fluff filter after every use.

feedthegoat · 03/12/2009 21:33

Yes. But only because it is a little compact one and it just trips and cuts the heat if you don't.

KirstyJC · 03/12/2009 21:33

Didn't know about this - I have a washer/dryer, do I also need to defluff? If so, where is the fluff? Never seen any....but then never looked either, tbh

TBMOM · 03/12/2009 21:40

Oh God you lot are so naive sometimes I can't believe you don't know these things!

Yes it is a fire hazard, they need cleaning regularly including the large filter in the door somewhere at least once a month and you should never go out and leave them on or use them whilst you are asleep at night.

TinselInYourBum · 03/12/2009 21:45

My Mother bought me one as a present when DS was born.

In July.

I have never had a tumbledrier before so did not know until now.....

I is ignorant.

FlyMeToDunoon · 03/12/2009 21:48

Shit I don't always clear mine and I have left it running at night and while I was out too.
Never again. God bless Mumsnet.

TBMOM · 03/12/2009 21:50

I hope you have jolly well learned your lessons? !!!

hormonesnomore · 03/12/2009 21:55

Here's something you could make from your fluff!

pooter · 04/12/2009 10:04

how bizarre!! It actually looks like her too. But really - why??

reup · 04/12/2009 13:28

that was one thing I had not imagined making with the fluff. Its amazing.

reminds me of friends aunt who use to knit with poodle hair. There is no logical reason why that makes me feel ill; it just does.
