Thanks to this topic on Mumsnet I am starting to get my house in order (Flylady). I think I might be a bit obsessed though. I have just watched this and am so excited. Have I lost it completely??

brilliant, have you patented the design or can we all copy it? (those of us who are anal about tidy airing cupboards at least)

AuraofDora · 03/11/2009 22:37

find this thread kinda disturbing in a 'has my life come to coveting info on folding tricky sheets' way..
no i cant watch,
.. i cant want to know how do to this...

notimetoshop · 03/11/2009 22:43

watch it! it is amazing. you know in a kind of ... once I used to have a life but now I just do laundry way.

I covet an airing cupboard, I dream of having an airing cupboard. I suspect by the time I live in a house big enough to have one, they'll have all disappeared thanks to the great combi boiler revolution.

onadietcokebreak · 03/11/2009 22:45

whats even worst than never getting 2 1/2 minutes back of my life that I used to watch that video is that I also wasted the same amount of my boyfriends life as he watched it too!

edam · 03/11/2009 22:45

I have an airing cupboard, it's full of badly folded fitted sheets slipping all over the place.

edam · 03/11/2009 22:46

(to the point where I actually gave up and went out and bought some flat sheets because I was frustrated by folding fitted ones. )

BrigitBigKnickers · 03/11/2009 23:11

Sorry but that guy on the youtube video is definitely not getting any! (And judging by his hobbies it's not that surprising!)

WHat is the point of folding these sheets. They stretch over the mattress so you can't see any creases anyway and then you put the duvet on top so you couldn't see the creases even if there were any.

Life is waaaaay too short!

lemonadesparkle · 03/11/2009 23:11

Have always folded them this way ...didn't know there was any other way to do it but he is so s-l-o-w.

However, in response to the poster who questioned how then you can tell its a fitted sheet when its in the airing cupboard, I have the solution. Although it will definitely out my OCD, I will share (but draw the line at demonstrating it through the medium of youtube

Take one of the pillowcases from the set and fold all the other pillow cases, duvet cover and fitted sheet (as previously demonstrated) so that they are the size of half the pillow case. Then simply place them all inside the bottom of the one remaining unfolded case and then fold over the top. You will now only have to pull out the bundle to have everything you need when you change the bedding and can tell at a glance which set you wish to pull out of the cupboard.

Think perhaps I need one of these

TsarChasm · 03/11/2009 23:26

Wow I am pathetically overjoyed with this! My fusspot mum too is going to LOVE it too. Thanks for the link TitchyWitch.

Is there anything that YouTube doesn't have a little instruction film for I wonder? Aren't they useful!

Clary · 03/11/2009 23:29

I have watched the fitted sheet one before and I do mine like that now - it is fabbbbb.

Even DH was moved to remark that it had changed my life

mummylin2495 · 03/11/2009 23:31

i am going to try that tomorrow ,i have to admit i usually just roll them up because i didnt know what else to do with it !

VulpusinaWilfsuit · 03/11/2009 23:51

Ah. Fond memories. MN taught me this too, courtesy of Anthea.

meltedchocolate · 04/11/2009 22:59

I am trying these!!!

meltedchocolate · 04/11/2009 23:17

Wow the fitted sheet thing was great!!! Did it twice and folded LOADS of t-shirts. The t-shirts took 3 secs each and sheet maybe half a min at most! GREAT!!! It was giving me so much trouble before but now i have conquerd it with my new knowledge!!

LilRedWG · 05/11/2009 09:08

Will send the link for the fitted sheet one to DH as he's always muttering about folding them.

Am lovingthe t-shirt folding one - will try out later. (before I get a life obviously).

Furball · 05/11/2009 09:16

Well I have a T shirt folding 'machine'!

use it when we go on holidays - tis great and quick!

Mcdreamy · 05/11/2009 09:29

Brilliant - esp the t shirt fold!

Bonsoir · 05/11/2009 09:34

I fold fitted sheets but not the way done in the link in the OP.

I flatten them out with the corners inside out, making them into neat rectangle, and then fold.

LilRedWG · 05/11/2009 09:37

Furball - that's a fab idea! now, I just need a holiday to go on....

bronze · 05/11/2009 09:40

I can fold a t shirt so its folded like ones from furballs thing would but I can do it with a flick of my hands. Also a skill learned from refolding tshirts while working in a shop

Am loving the fitted sheet one but not sure I can be arsed

I can also do the paper into rds thing

StillSquiffy · 05/11/2009 09:48

How sad am I that in 20 years of folding sheets it has never occurred to me to roll the doubles and fold the singles such that I can tell the difference when opening the drawer.

Thanks to the wonders of MN, I walk now with my head held high, a mooncup up my fanjo, and with perfectly folded sheets in my bourdoir. The walking itself is admittedly slightly awkward, due to the bumsex.

jetforkesandbonfires · 05/11/2009 09:51

I love that

Tried on the cot bed size first - just to practice and now have lots of lovely folded sheets in cupboard!!

Trouble is, ones on beds actually need washing today, so will have to get them washed, dried and put back on straight away as dont want to ruin lovely folded pile

This takes me back to Anthea's folded towells

jetforkesandbonfires · 05/11/2009 09:53

stillsquiffy - thats a fab post

christmasmum · 05/11/2009 16:01

I'm tragically excited about doing my sheets later...
To add my own top tip - I always put the set of (now beautifully folded) sheets inside one of the pillow cases so they stay together as a set - genius recommnedation from Woman and Home magazine...

(Oh god, it's come to this...)

nickelbang · 05/11/2009 16:05

that's how i fold my fitted sheets already.
although it doens't take me as long as it took him.

but, really, everything gets stuffed into the airing cupboard anyway, so does it matter ?
