4yo and 2 you - maybe 5 a week...

missblythe · 10/07/2009 12:54

I have a 3 yr old and a 2 month old, and the machine is on at least once every day, often more. Probably about 10-12 loads a week, I should think.

Which reminds me...

Scorps · 10/07/2009 12:55

I do one a day, there is me, DH and 3dc, plus we are washable nappies here. It's mainly my stuff and Mimi's (14 months)!

Dophus · 10/07/2009 12:55

We'll see how this goes. I seem to be heading towards dirty minger

nocluemum · 10/07/2009 12:56

ah - good - its not me being a freak then.....just hung a load up and about to strip the bed and wash the sheets too - a good drying day methinks...

Scorps - do you put other stuff in with the naps? I used to but told someone and they sounded horrified!

claireybee · 10/07/2009 12:57

3yo and 1yo, around 8 a week including 2 loads of nappies. Depends on your washing machine capacity and how you wash as well though. I save mine up and do a load of whites, load of darks, load of towels etc but my friend just grabs everything that needs washing and shoves it all in together-she doesn't even have washing baskets because nothing waits to be washed whereas mine are v rarely empty.

i do about 4-5 a day!, but then i do have an army it goes up if i do beds and curtains! ... so thats about 28-35 a week ! no wonder my leccy bills so high! ..... anyone know where i can buy a wind turbine for some diy electricity!

drlove8 · 10/07/2009 13:00

we do cloth nappies too! ( nappys & wraps& boosters only

drlove8 · 10/07/2009 13:02

clarybee , if you dont seperate your clothes look tatty very quickly as the dyes run and everything looks sort of greyish .... your friend is lazy.
with tatty clothes ,

Scorps · 10/07/2009 13:03

Yes i pop it all in, unless heavily soiled.

i use paper liners, so the poo mostly goes on them, which i flush. So at most its just a couple of marks and a bit of wee .

gingertoo · 10/07/2009 13:03

I do 12 - 14 loads per week!

I've got 3 boys (10, 8 and 2) plus 2 stepdcs at weekends, dh and myself.

It's got worse as the boys have got older. When you add a swimming kit each, a pe kit each, rugby kit, football kit and lots of other random muddy clothes to the uniform, towels, bedding, nappies etc, the poor washing machine never stops (and neither do I......)

oftenpurple · 10/07/2009 13:08

I do at least a wash every day plus two extra loads for bedding. My washing basket is amazingly empty today but we're going on holiday early Sunday morning so everything is either packed or in the ironing pile Usually I have a huge pile of ironing and a full washing basket, I don't seem to be able to keep up.

gardeningmum05 · 10/07/2009 13:18

i do a minimum of 15 washes a week!! theres me,dh and 4 kids.
i empty the basket daily to keep on top of it
although i iron practically nothing

mummymimi · 10/07/2009 13:19

I do 10-12 loads a week. I have 3 sons (13,10, 8 months) and a daughter (3). Oh I should add I have a very mucky builder for a husband.

BlueKangerooWonders · 10/07/2009 13:25

2-3 per day, so 14 -20ish per week. 3 dc, and all dh's work shirts etc etc

MaybeAfterBreakfast · 10/07/2009 13:30

10-12 loads per week.

17mo and 3yo, me, dh, dog.

Dh has umpteen outfits per day (cycling clothes, gym clothes, work shirts, ordinary clothes for evening). Dcs can never wear anything for more than one day. Dog makes a lot of mess.

modrin · 10/07/2009 13:31

3 to 4 loads every day i have husband and 2 strapping teenage boys they all go to the gym etc so double the usual amount of clothes oh and im obsessed with washing bedclothes if its sunny

MiniMarmite · 10/07/2009 13:35

5-7 per week but I only have a 10 month old and use disposable nappies

YesSirICanBoogie · 10/07/2009 13:37

I have two DDs, a DH and me and I do about 12 loads a week. I generally only wear things or use towels once, I have a sicky baby, a dirty DD and I change all the beds once a week! On reflection I'm probably giving myself uneccessary work but I actually quite like doing laundry! Ironing basket always full until MIL comes to babysit and I 'accidentally' leave it out.

Sheeta · 10/07/2009 13:38

It was a source of constant amazement to me when DS was a newborn that he could somehow generate a whole load of laundry in just one day!

but we prob do about 10 loads a week including all bedding and towels.

LaurieFairyCake · 10/07/2009 13:41

3 loads a week (2 adults, one 11 yr old)

it's not great for the environment to wash too many clothes so we come home and get into pj's rather than get a second lot of clothes dirty every day.

Mintyy · 10/07/2009 13:44

I've got a big machine (6kg, not one of the really huge ones) and I do one load a day for four of us. No nappies. And I don't change the towels every day like some of you nutters or give my dc a clean pair of pyjamas every day. And I always do a full load. Sheets and pillow cases are changed weekly but duvet covers only fortnightly.

PestoMonster · 10/07/2009 13:49

I average 2 a day. So 14 roughly. Including bedding, towels etc aswell as clothes.
