3 to 4 loads a day? really?
How is that possible? Do you do anything else - eat, sleep...?
I've got a 2 and a 4 year old and average 3 - 4 loads a week and I thought that was a lot!
Aren't you a wee bit worried about your water / ectricity bills / the environment?

nomorecake · 10/07/2009 15:05

about 6 a week, incl beds, towels.
disposable nappies though.

ChrisCorcoranIsMyPimp · 10/07/2009 15:08

4 a week probably for me, dh and a 2yr old. We have a washing machine with a large capacity though.

Dophus · 10/07/2009 15:11

I'm with you Paris - maybe we're just scuzzy

MrsCurly · 10/07/2009 15:12

Two or three a week. Two adults plus 5yr old and 3 yr old. I did more when they were babies, but still think most of you are barking.

muggglewump · 10/07/2009 15:15

I try to keep it to three loads a week for two of us. 1 whites, 1 darks and 1 bedding and towels.

I'm not fussed if DD's play clothes are mucky though. She goes out to play and is mucky within 5 minutes anyway, seems a total waste to put clean clothes on her the next day just for playing in the street.

I'm on a tight budget so always make sure there's a full load, and don't wash unecessarily.

beanieb · 10/07/2009 15:24

Maybe 2 - 3 a week. Some weekends thogh I can do none, others I can do 4. I don't have kids yet so it's just me and him.

LaDiDaDi · 10/07/2009 15:32

Me, dp and dd (3.2) and it varies loads here but I'd say 5/week. Ideally I try to put it on the energy saving programme overnight and then unload it in the morning when I can decide if I'm going to hang it out or put it on the airer but if I'm realy busy at work (ft) or disorganised then I end up doing it all at the weekend.

cikecaka · 10/07/2009 15:33

About 3-4 a day! There is me,DH and 4 DCs

HeadFairy · 10/07/2009 15:35

About 3 a week, more if the weather's bad and dh is getting through two sets of cycling gear every day going to work.

There's me, dh and ds.

LaDiDaDi · 10/07/2009 15:36

Dd gets a clean pair of pjs every day as she eats breakfast in them so they get a bit grim afterwards and ner pull-ups often leak a bit.

I don't change towels every day though.

anything from 0-3 a day.

KirstyJC · 10/07/2009 16:12

Let's see, 2 washes per week for nappies, 1 whites (inc bedding and/or towels sometimes), 2 colours, sometimes 1 misc (either towels, coloured bedding, random things like picnic sheets/swimming stuff etc).

So 5-6 per week, for me, DH, 5yo and 8mo.

I try to have at least 2 washing-free days a week, although when the weather is bad it can pile up!

Don't iron though - DH does his / DS1 shirts for work and school. Nothing else needs doing - why flatten your clothes just to crease them the second you sit down in them? Or do people walk along keeping their arms and legs out straight so they don't crease them? (Genuinely not understanding why people iron most clothes when you can't tell anyway? )

merryberry · 10/07/2009 16:15

i do 7-9 a week family same size as yours. we have clean beds and towels every week though

Simples · 10/07/2009 16:16

depends on the weather. If its nice 1-2 loads a day. so an average of about 10 a week.

In winter i slack a bit (tumble dryer in garage so effort to dry washing) and MIL will often take a basket away a week and wash and iron it for me.

Me, DP and 20m ds. DP is a carpenter and goes through two of everything each day as he has a shower and changes after work.

LittleMissBliss · 10/07/2009 18:10

We have a small and crap washing machine! a quick wash is just under 2 hours!

HuffwardlyRudge · 10/07/2009 18:13

3yo & 1yo.

10 - 15ish loads a week, but that includes washable nappy loads.

EldonAve · 10/07/2009 18:15

probably about 8

I reckon 4 or 5 a week but it varies.

It must cost some of you a fortune in electricity though

Dumbledoresgirl · 10/07/2009 18:17

I can remember when I was first on maternity leave. My neighbour had a husband and one small boy, and then had another baby a few weeks before I had mine. She had a load of washing drying on her line every single day and I remember thinking her little boy must be very sickly or have incontinence problems or something similar for her to have to do a load of washing a day. Little did I know!

LovelyRitaMeterMaid · 10/07/2009 18:18

I do about 4 or 5 a week I think. Occasionally do 3 loads in one day but then don't do any for a few days.

There's DH, me, DS (5) and DD (3) here.
