Good morning

OP posts:
Tortoise · 27/06/2009 19:42

I can't immagine not giving her food until this time tomorrow. She is finding it really hard not being allowed food.

Wolfcub · 27/06/2009 19:43

cream crackers
plain rice pudding - although maybe not until tomorrow because of milk content
a teaspoon of salt and a teaspoon of sugar dissolved in a pint of warm water works in a very similar way to dioralyte

Knickers0nMaHead · 27/06/2009 19:51

Just realised two of your arnt far from me, and grouchy, dp works in your town

Knickers0nMaHead · 27/06/2009 19:51

tort, i hope she gets better soon.

wendyredkitchenredspots · 27/06/2009 19:52

Like Grouchy, I can't catch up with everyone, I'm going to just jump in again!
Been to Chester zoo today - fab day but DD a bit of a whinge bucket. Just finished watching the tennis.
Had a mad week here as usual but ok. We are a bit stony broke though and there seems to be so much to buy lately, as the children get older there seem to be more expenses! I am thinking I'm going to have to rejoin the workforce, but only part time, luckily for me.

Tortoise · 27/06/2009 19:52

Thanks Knickers.

wendyredkitchenredspots · 27/06/2009 19:54

Hi Knickers I'm a regular usually, just not been on much this last week - I'm in Ossett!

wendyredkitchenredspots · 27/06/2009 19:55

Tort bananas really good for poorly tummies as i'm sure you realise. I usually just go for toast and bananas and lots of water.

hi wolf! how was your week off?

Knickers0nMaHead · 27/06/2009 19:56

wow wendy, im up in Netherton! Small world eh?

Tortoise · 27/06/2009 20:15

Thanks Wendy. Will go for banana in the morning.
She really want cereal and milk lol!

gibbberish · 27/06/2009 20:16

Aw tort, your poor dd. What a nightmare. Is weird that she wants to eat though. Usually when they are being sick it's the last thing they want to do.

Oh dear... I think one of the goldfish has something wrong with it. Probably because I chucked water in the tank and the fish in immediately afterwards. Apparently you should wait for a day or so before putting them in the new water so that the nitrate and chlorine levels have dropped to an acceptable level. Or something like that. Well, I didn't and the poor thing is sitting at the bottom of the tank looking sorry for itself Oh arse. The rest seem fine though...

wendyredkitchenredspots · 27/06/2009 20:29

My dd always wants to eat immediately after being sick, so does my DH. It's awful because you know it's going to come straight back!
Oh dear at the goldfish, gib! I would have done the same

Tortoise · 27/06/2009 21:13

Gibb We weren't told that when we got Bob the goldfish. How would you be able to do a water change without putting the fish straight back in?

gibbberish · 27/06/2009 21:20

From what I have read (too late) you shouldn't do a complete water change, only change half the water at a time. If it is a new aquarium you should prepare the water for a few weeks before transferring the fish.

Then again, my sister never did this and hers were fine! And dd2 tells me her friend regularly does a complete water change, puts her fish back in straight away and they are now 8 years old and very healthy! So who knows...

Will just keep an eye on them. Not much else I can do! Will be forever branded as the Fish Murderer if we lose them...

Tortoise · 27/06/2009 22:01

We were told partial water change every 3 days and full change once a month because the stones also need washing. But this is a tank with no filter. And when we bought Bob we asked if it was ok to put him straight in and she said yes.

Although probably best to ignore me seeing as i killed Bob.

Knickers0nMaHead · 27/06/2009 22:13

this is the reason i havent got fish. They are meant to be easy pets!

MaggieTulliver · 27/06/2009 22:20

gibberish - this happened to one of my goldfish. you can buy stuff to help them. might be swimbladder or something similar. bit of a faff though. advice you have been given to let the tank settle etc is correct as far as i know.

all of our fish went last year. i bought 3 more from a pet shop and didnt quarantine the before adding them to my tank. they brought 2 diseases with them - lice and white spot - and i'm afraid i just gave up then and got rid of all of them

gibbberish · 27/06/2009 22:25

Arse. Just paid for this huge tank and all the stuff that goes with it. And they are all going to undoubtedly cork it. The rest are looking decidedly lethargic now and a second one is hovering towards the bottom of the tank so think it may not be swimbladder. Just my ignorance

Poor bob...

How come my sis has managed to have fish all these years with no probs?

dylsmum1998 · 27/06/2009 22:44

evening all, cant seem to catch up with posts on weekend, but will try

wendy you have been to my fav zoo, i always try to go there when i am visiting my family that way, we had a big family outing when i dragged my dad and sis +nieces/nephews in half term just gone

i have had an awful time with goldfish this year, with these new rules with the partial changes, water de-chlorintor etc i have killed far too many goldfish, although the minnows seem to have survived me so far.
when ds was small he had fish and we used to put them staright in, no water treatment etc, full tank change every week and they lasted years.
gibb my sis got fish around the same time as our first lot of goldfish this year and they are happily swimming, tis not fair!!
not much help i know, but you are not alone

i should really go to bed as we off to chessington in the morning

TheMadHouse · 28/06/2009 00:18

Evening all or should that be morning

We are back 4th load in the washer at least the same to go.

Car is mainley unpacked.

We are off to see The Wiggles tomorrow in York - very excited.

Fantastic time on holiday.

Then SIL's dads 81 birthday party monday evening - phew it is going to be one of those weeks

littleboyblue · 28/06/2009 07:38

tort hope dd is better today. My mum says 7up has everything in it that you need to give your system a re-boot iyswim, and she always says give some flat 7up to ds1 when he gets a bit poorly.

Hello to everyone else, hope all's well.
Hot isn't it?

Not sure what's happening here today, hope you all have a lovely day.

wendyredkitchenredspots · 28/06/2009 08:46

glad you had a good hols mad, nice to see you!
llb hi!
Don't think I'll ever get any fish! Sounds very complicated but the we had fish when I was little and they were always fine with water bunged in straight away - guess we were lucky!
Painted DD's wall yellow last night - only skirting to go now after FIL fits a new socket in the wall (dust!), then curtains and blinds to put up. Might get to move her furniture by Tuesday perhaps - after another 5.30 getting up with both of them I am looking forward to at least one of them sleeping in.
I have temporarily abandoned the potty training - she clearly wasn't ready - after 4 weeks still every time an accidnet and getting very anxious about it all. Started so well, cracked it after a day but soon lost interest. Put her in pull ups for now but they keep leaking out, she has soaked the computer chair, looks like we need a new one . Fed up of spending money lately!
Wolf we had 5 guests at our wedding - a bit extreme! But we had a fabulous day.

Not sure what we're up today.

swanriver · 28/06/2009 09:43

Done

meandering round garden with all next door's cats

Hello, Wendylongtimenosee, and TMHtriumphantreturnerfromsouthernfields

we are trying to get ds2 into his own room (the boxroom) but furniture moving is dependent on dh's back, but I've sort of worked out where existing furniture is going to go elsewhere (ifyswim)
