plans for a picnic at the butterfly farm are out the window.....now need to be creative at finding indoor activity, that is cheap, amd will entertain 6 DC from age 1 to 11.... could be a challenge!

So today good and bad already LOL
Ds2 up at 5.30 am....sigh
BUT have made casserole for tonight already YAY!
However I am NOT showered or dressed yet, and bed not made, and breakfast chaos now descending as rest of DC now get up...sigh !!

right, better get on then! off to find inspiration for the day...doing basic FLYing only here today.
Really should do zone this week as Kitchen needs doing but can see it not happening LOL
Hope all are well this am!

Bugger. I've just posted on the old thread. I'll cut and paste....

Jas · 04/05/2009 07:43

Morning all

DP is at work I'm hoping this is the start of things to come, and I can get back into FLYing and catch up properly with you all. For now I am going to do basic FLYlists though, so sorry for lack of chat.

The huse hasn't suffered too much for non FLYing as I've sort of stuck to my morning routine, and dp is (IMO) a clean freak so he made sure stuff was done.

Today I will:

Bath all 3 dc
hoover
mop
wash clothes x2
clean kitchen surfaces
declutter and start to empty old bathroom
15 mins each dds room
go out to local park
buy milk.

I hope.

BBL

Jas · 04/05/2009 07:46

It is not soggy here. I've already hung out a load of washing and was considering ding the sofa cover after the nappies, as it is so nice.

I hope it clears up for you galen

EustaciaVye · 04/05/2009 08:45

Morning all. House awful. List so long I feel depressed about it but will work through it today and post later.

prof that's a very nice very evocative post. I am at being rude about the whiteness of curtains!

Done
made pancakes for brekkie!

currently trying to find something to do on a wet day with a bored and highly energetic toddler

hope everyone has a good day

grouchyoscar · 04/05/2009 10:06

Hello Ladies

Don't know what the weather is doing here, I haven't looked past the curtains

Galen I'm never too sure if a Bank Holiday should be added to the weekend or be considered an ordinary Monday either!

Morning jas and EV

I've staved off Boris and I think he's slinking off again (until the next time ) He has every right to pop back though as I was in Sheffield til 11:30 seeing a friend from NYC. It was great to see him again and it's really great to see things are going so well for him. He's been working in Norway introducing Middle school children to the concept/importance of the protest song! He said kids are learning stuff in assembly that he wouldn't be allowed to mention in school back home! So he's been in the Artic Circle playing Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie songs to school kids, I mean, how cool is that?

Awwwh, DH has just brought up a cuppa and a plate of jam toast for me and Ed. Bless him. BBL

grouchy - Your friend is paid to do that? Sounds like a cool job!

I did my car boot yesterday....made £45, and spent ten on food, drinks, and stuff from other stalls!. It was a good day out though.

swanriver · 04/05/2009 10:29

Sunny here.
Galen - go for walk in rain tis the only solution to £ and exercise. then hot baths and pottering. brilliant on casserole.
Grouchy, friends do inspire don't they..

So far I've had breakfast
cleared breakfast
potted up some lemon coloured petunias
admired my potato leaves
talked to a friend on phone who is superwoman and its a relief to remember I'm not...always feel rather calm and peacefulwhen I stop talking to her
chatted
lunch planned fish from freezer potatoes and veg

Today we will potter ALOT.

swanriver · 04/05/2009 10:36

Galen, in Ireland, in the holidays (it was always raining the early 70's) we used to do a lot of pretend musicals or theatre and put on performances with costumes, for our parents. That used up quite a lot of energy I suppose. Even the three year olds had a part I think.

Wolfcub · 04/05/2009 10:39

grouchy don't bother looking past curtains - weather pants

swanriver · 04/05/2009 10:41

Wolfcub - treasure trail. Hide cars round the house and get him to find them and collect them up and bring them back in bag to the garage YOU for repairs.
orjust hokeycokey?
Islands. Sofa cushions round sitting room floor and he has to step from cushion to cushion without getting his feet wet.

galen · 04/05/2009 10:43

well BUM again LOL!
Had decided to take DC to cheap cinema showing of Igor , got them all in car, ***thing wouldnt start AGAIN!! aaaarrrggghhh

Cue call to recue people, hysterical DD 3 and 4 cause we couldnt go to cinema etc.....
Car now started, but battery possible on way out, so may or may not start tomorrow am great timing or what! the thought of trying toget 6 DC to and from school all well on bus on my own is too much (pathetic I know!) and even the thought of getting car to garage with DC in tow is a bit of a logistic nightmare.....

Still will go out somewhere later ...may be a walk in the rain after all swan although actually it is REALLY wet and cold so maybe not!Like the idea of pretend theatre though, DC love that sort of thing, and as far as I can tell it is still always raining in Ireland 9at lease usually when we are there!)

right off togo placate DC....bribery with chocolate is called for I think

prof yes lovely post. Has anyone read "can any mother help me?" Lovely book about a group of ladies in the 50's that used to write in correspondence magazine in a group about life, housework and their woes.reminded me of MN, and this thread in particular

galen · 04/05/2009 10:46

grouchyoscar · 04/05/2009 10:54

Wolf I have, Bah! BBQ is a washout

Jas Mills said he was getting paid which I think is very cool. I remember at school seeing Pete Seeger's name at the end of songs in the hymn book and asking 'is that the song that * do? and being told not to ask those sort of questions. The Northern Lights must cause more creative thinking Only recently discovered the importance of Messers Seeger and Guthrie myself.

Eeeeh I do waffle!

laurasmiles · 04/05/2009 14:01

Hi all - we all seem to be having pottering days today.

Dp and I went out to see "In the Loop" at the cinema last night and his sister babysat. A nice change. Very funny satire.

Dp has taken tow children out to soft play centre and I've done my morning bits and pieces to restore order.

DONE:
Swished and swiped bathrooms
Stripped spare bed of sheets etc.
Rescued the bedrooms
Made beds
Cleaned out cat litter tray
Tidied worktops
Unoladed and reloaded dishwasher
Cleaned oven
Mopped kitchen floor
Checked emails

Still procrastinating over clearing my hotspots - it seems on some deep level; I'm sentimentally connected to them being there.

EustaciaVye · 04/05/2009 15:14

Have done lots while DD2 sleeps.

Played with DD1 on bike.
Cleared out garage
Planted all summer bedding plants
Mowed lawn

Now my hands feel like sandpaper and I am tired. Waiting for DH to return from work.

Simply · 04/05/2009 16:29

Hello to all.

Well, I've been out with dd at a sports tournament all day so we were cold and tired but we're warming up now we're home. I think I'll have a go at lighting the woodburning stove. I've not done it before so we'll see how it goes! There is a football match on the tv atm and ds is there. It's not exactly well attended (I'd say that about 5% of the seats are occupied) so I should be able to spot him if they show the crowd a couple of times.

Right. I'm going to have a hot drink and then settle down to clear some ironing. See you later!
