laurasmiles · 27/04/2009 09:35

Moring all - thanks for the thread MTH.
My first day got waylaid by smelling something dreadful in ds' room that I couldn't track down. Only to find a sippy cup of solidified mil leaking under his matress!!! YUK.
Then found dp had left this morning using the last of the milk so no coffee for me!!! Blurrgggh. The day can only improve. Try to stay focused.

Really glad it's the living room as there is plenty of clutter to get on with in here.

Off to make tea!
Make the rest of the beds
Shower and dress
Swish and swipe the bathrooms
Put washing on
Dress children
Put out a hot spot
Out to buy supplys

Hope you all have good starts to the week. x

Morning all.
I have a big job to tackle this morning.
My Deep fat fryer has, for some reason, leaked ALL the oil out the back/bottom. This was only discovered this morning when DS2 noticed something in the cupboard on a box.

The oil has come out the fryer, down the back of the work top and into the cupboard.

This is going to be fun to clean up!!

Also need to do the front room. It looks terrible again! bloody kids!

Hi to all
BBL

Tortoise · 27/04/2009 10:36

Oil cleaned up. But i have a feeling the oil has also gone down further! There is a gap between the back of the cupboard and the bottom of it. No way of getting to it.

At least the cupboard is clean now lol!

Prof Glad the party was good. I need to decide if DD1 is having the teddy making party or not. Might have to limit it to 6 or something.

Swan I have meals planned for the rest of the week. And most of the ingredients to go in them. Egg and bacon pie tonight.

I think i am going to have to give DD1 the choice between a party or a Present (playmobil item i am watching on Ebay). It is already on £83 and ends tonight. I know she would love it but that is a lot of money.
Do you think that is fair? maybe she is too young to make that choice. I just don't know.

scattyspice · 27/04/2009 12:46

Hi all.

Tort - yuck to the fryer leak! I don't think its unfair to ask your DD to choose between a party or the present, I think she is similar age to my DS. Last yr he had a party and got a present from Oxfam .

Prof - glad dds party went well. I think having an open house for your little celebration is a great idea.

Hi to mad, ehm. laura, swan and galen.

Have been away at Dads and stepmums all weekend. Had a lovely time despite the circumstances, they are holding up very well. Long drive though!

Today:
ds swimming
laundry
floors

Tortoise · 27/04/2009 12:55

Thanks Scatty. She will be 6 in a few weeks.
Knowing her she wil burst into tears and have a major wobbly about it! But i will try and talk to her after school.
Still worried that it is too much to spend just on a playmobil palace!

swanriver · 27/04/2009 13:00

Tortoise, I think get her a smaller cheaper present and a party, after all, party will yield further presents
imo playmobil at that age is fun for a bit then not played with enough to warrant money, especially if you are the one that puts it together!!!!
Especially the dolls' house type, it was almost too many bits.
Boys loved pirate ship but they played with it in a BIG blustery way, ditto ice dinosaur set.
What my dd and ds have loved for their 4-7th birthday is the Sylvanian family caravan (both types)despite losing most of bits. The tree house (our dts Xmas present)was way too big and complicated and they lost interest.

swanriver · 27/04/2009 13:24

Maybe the palace is something that could be a joint present for BOTH dds when they are a bit older.

galen · 27/04/2009 13:27

Afternoon all!
Back again for my 20 min break (20 not 15 cause I always get interupted be some DC or other so I gave myslef 5 interuption time LOL)
mad thanks for thread and great lists - always so useful for keeping me on track!BTW did you find out about school yet?
prof glad party went well. But at rude people not showing
tort I think 6 sounds like a fine number for a party. Personally I would also probably opt fpor a slightly cheaper pressie, but then I have 6 to buy for and couldnt spend that on each of them LOL. I have found though that at that age they often appreciate something cheaper just as much as an expensive gift.
swan sounding very organised today!
scaty glad weekend went well and Dad and stepmum are coping well despite it all.

Well feeling more positive today. Spent some time reviewing my control journal/babystaeps/routines at the weekend which really helped!Am using my timer today too LOL
Doing well so far
Done:
morning routine - all done!
Stripped DD's beds (X4)
Bedding washed, nearly dry
mopped 2/3 floors
home blessing:dusting, hoovered upstairs, upstairs windows
laundry reboot
played with DD4 lots
DD4 to nursery
Lunch dine and cleared
Dinner - saus and lentil hot pot in slow cooker
Made Dr's app

Now:
20 mins cuppa break!

next:
load and run DW
remake DD's beds
clean clothes away
tidy fuzzy felt away
review control journal
review bids on ebay
work out some sort of shopping/budgeting spreadsheet in my never ending quest to cut our grocery bill!

tonight:
mop dining room floor
order DD2's bday present
plan what else I need to sort for DD bday

right 5 mins to go.... need to go check my emails....

BBL ladies have great afternoons!

galen · 27/04/2009 13:27

oh forgot - going to do mission NOW!

laurasmiles · 27/04/2009 13:41

Hi again to all!
8Tort8 you trumped my milk episode with that oil disaster - eek! Glad you managed to tackle that.

galen and swanriver those are inspiring lists. I seem to have got waylaid and have yet to swish the bathrooms!

hmmm, I wonder if I'll ever get so organised that I have dinners planned in advance !) You can see the low level I'm starting at here.

Tortoise · 27/04/2009 13:43

Swan Joint present is good idea. Depends if it comes up again on Ebay. This is more than one set together worth £100s apparently. I do think they would play with it but maybe not much yet, i don't know. I think it got it all wrong at xmas!!!
I have already bought some playmobil bits which i was going to put away for xmas if the palace didn't go to high in price. Realistically i think it has gone too high.

Galen She had a big whole class party last year. So this year would only be a small one at home.

I have made a start on tea. Going to peel spuds next while watching neighbours!

Tortoise · 27/04/2009 13:44

Laura It didn't turn out to be as bad as expected. I think the roll of grease proof paper in the cupboard had soaked most of it up! fryer is now in the bin though!

swanriver · 27/04/2009 13:45

hello Galen, I'm not at all organised today, and have achieved nothing really
except to spend too much at Tesco's in a panic. As always have to keep buying "tasty" things to keep dh from buying takeaways .
It is easier when one has time to think through the week isn't it, and then things seems less overwhelming, even simple as long as lists are not TOO long.

Btw, Tort, I haven't got any playmobil dolls houses/palaces, though dd does play with someone who does. I think she mentioned it once as a source of but there is ALWAYS something to fit that bill (computers in such and such bedroom, blonde hair, baby sisters, yesterday she was even complaining she didn't have special eczema cream like her bf - (dd has No eczema)

Off to school now to help.

TheMadHouse · 27/04/2009 13:57

Afternoon all

Just a quick check in and Welcome Laura

Done

Home blur - upstairs only (inc clean glass wardrobe doors, hoover, polish, general tidy in all 3 bedrooms)
Washing reboot
Lunches and washed and away
decluttered spare room
produced a pile of things to photo and list on e-bay
S&S 3 loo's
Wiped down all kitchen tops
Emptied DW
Spag bol on for dinner
prevented meltdown in DS2 (only just)

I NEED advice on 4 year old boys - do they all of a sudden become fighting terrors. DS1 seems to be filled with anger and testosterone. He gets in a temper and tells me he doesnt know how to stop it and is lashing out at his little brother for the slighest thing . He said he feels as though he is filled with hot chocololate that is too hot and fizzy - his words.

I do not know how to help him

I will be back - I am off to a friends for a cup of tea for an hour to calm down

TheMadHouse · 27/04/2009 14:00

Tort I woiuld do a small pressie and a party if that was what she wanted. You could always look for something other than the playmobil one and see if you can get it for less cash.

I am off now - I didnt want you to think I was ignore you.

Scatty I bet it was a long drive, but glad that everyone is soldiering on
