hotcrosspurepurple · 10/04/2009 17:03

ComeOeufeneer · 10/04/2009 17:23

Lst thing at night before we go to bed (every night), then close the door to stop the cats going in.

ShannaraTiger · 10/04/2009 17:25

As infrequently as possible. Usualy when ds is in bed though.

mrsmaidamess · 10/04/2009 17:26

And I make the kids stay in other room until it's dry.

Rothwellmummy · 10/04/2009 17:39

Everyday i mop it and then do a hands and knees job about once a month.

MadameCastafiore · 10/04/2009 17:42

Monday, Wednesday and Friday late morning after I have taken the dog out for an uber long walk so can shut her in her cage for long enough for it to dry.

After lunch. After supper.

I chose black flooring for a reason

sweep it every night, I think the crumb fairies come and sprinkle crumbs daily because I have no idea where it all comes from.

Then I have a flat mop thing and squirt dettol floor cleaner straight onto the floor. So it is like sweeping up again. I do that about 2 - 3 times a week.

I do it at night.

nancy75 · 10/04/2009 18:09

every night before i go to bed, i have a really big mop and quite a small kitchen, so its a quick job!

athomeagain · 10/04/2009 18:56

When it feels crunchy or sticky underfoot.

Time of day - a weekday morning when we are in, ds2 is asleep, and ds1 is at preschool. No way on earth I am wasting child-free evening time on such a dull task.

crokky · 10/04/2009 19:12

I don't wash my kitchen floor very often at all. What I do is to wipe up (with babywipes) any food or spills or dirt immediately as it gets there - then you only have to wipe that bit of mess - it doesn't spread around and get sticky etc. For other general bits that get on the kitchen floor, I use the vacuum quite often. Doing those two things means I hardly ever have to wash the kitchen floor properly.

FlyMeToDunoon · 10/04/2009 19:38

I washed mine today at around 2 ish. DDs watching a dvd and stairgate to kitchen then locked to stop em going in.

Hard flooring all over the rest of the ground floor is more difficult because a major tidy up of crap from floor is first required and then a hoover and then a mopping involving several returns to kitchen to rinse.

Sometimes do this as DP is putting DDs to bed.
Or in the day with DDs who are at home herded up into their bedroom with instructions not to come down.

They then come down of course and at least one of them will ignore my warnings and run about and slip.
What larks!

When I'm not pregnant

paolosgirl · 10/04/2009 19:51

Mopped every few days. I try and sweep every day, but it's a big kitchen diner and so it's usually every couple of days.

The kids were delightful at dinner, telling me breezily that our house is always a tip (which it's bloody not), and that X and Y's houses are always immaculate and that Z mops HER floor every day. I did think - how does she have the time, but then I realised that I would probably have the time if I wasn't on Mumsnet so often
