OK, so how much do you pay your window cleaner?

Just had a very nice polite man round to quote - seems like a proper firm and all that - but they want £60 just to do the outsides ( £100 to do inside and out!)

Our house is emphatically not a mansion - it's a 3 bed Victorian terrace. We do have a side return extension with a fair amount of glass, but it's not huge.

Any recommendations for cheaper window cleaners in the Richmond/Twickenham area gratefully received! Or is that the going rate?

£60????? ours is £12.50 to do the outside (3bedroom house with big windows) they must have got that wrong?

SniffyHock · 12/03/2009 10:11

That sounds a lot - we have quite a large house and pay £30 - it's not in Richmond though

Uriel · 12/03/2009 10:11

£10.50 for ours.

barbarapym · 12/03/2009 10:14

I was staggered. I was expecting it to be up to £30 ish because of the London factor. But £60!! I should change careers...

Bloody hell!

We pay £5 for the front (2 big bays, glazed front door plus 2 single sashes), and if I'm home when they come, they do the back for another £8, which is another 5 sashes, French windows and a conservatory/sun room

CoffeeCrazedMama · 12/03/2009 10:16

Barbara - sounds like a scam. I live in South London terrace and pay £6 for front and £12 if he does back as well (and ds's window tricky to get to over kitchen extension).

barbarapym · 12/03/2009 10:20

I should probably ask the woman opposite who she uses. They have it done every 4 weeks so they can't be paying £60 a time - unless they are considerably richer than me.

My goodness, I only pay ours £3.50 once a month for 10 windows (3 bed semi).

We're not far from Glasgow.

subtlemouse · 12/03/2009 10:23

£3.50 for the fronts here.

helsy · 12/03/2009 10:25

£6.30 - 4 bed house. When I had a house with 17 windows, many floor to ceiling, it cost £15. In the midlands.

lizziemun · 12/03/2009 10:26

Nothing - mum's got a thing about dirty windows .

Lizzylou · 12/03/2009 10:28

£6, front and back, 4 bed detached (no conservatory)

That is extortionate, if I wasn't scared of heights I'd become a window cleaner! Ours (there is a team) does around 40 houses in the space of an hour or so!

MyEye · 12/03/2009 10:28

I pay £45 (N London). 3 storeys, 13 windows. Last time my chap came, he told me what he was having for supper (oysters from the Waitrose shellfish counter)
Nice work, eh?

mondaymonday · 12/03/2009 10:35

£7.50, front and back, 3 bed terrace

Haylstones · 12/03/2009 10:38

£5 for the front of our house- 4 bed detached so front door, porch, bay window and 2 bedrooms. Your quote is extortionate- any chance they don't really have time to do it so are trying to price it so high that they don't have to do it?

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 12/03/2009 10:41

£5 for front and back of victorian terrace, once a month.

Wtf is he using to clean then for £60? His tongue?

happywomble · 12/03/2009 10:48

Ours was charging £12 for back and front (small semi). I thought it was too much so have stopped having a window cleaner.

mrstimlovejoy · 12/03/2009 11:13

£5 for 3 bed semi 2 bays at front, french doors at back and 2 large kitchen windows plus bedroom, bathroom and landing window.

ginnny · 12/03/2009 11:16

I pay £4.00 a month. Small terraced 2 up 2 down. My Mum pays £5.00 for a large 3 storey town house.
We are in the South East.

Seeline · 12/03/2009 11:18

I pay £15.50 a month for a 4 bed detached in South London.

paranoidmother · 12/03/2009 11:36

Jackstini · 12/03/2009 11:37

Rollmops · 12/03/2009 18:36

We pay £16, Oxon area.

nannyL · 12/03/2009 19:42
