Hope you got home safely Ruby, and weren't too shaken. Was it outside school? You must have felt proud of your dcs' costumes at least on the bus.

Have managed to extract some homework from ds1 using a book instead of internet (really much easier methinks) less distracting...He's come back from Tag Rugby a bit calmer. Ds2 is doing some "work" now too.

Hope you're alright Galen, and that dd4 was more amenable today.

Oh dear a snarling pack of dcs are coming towards me to rip computer from me and argue about something

EustaciaVye · 12/03/2009 18:07

Are you ok Ruby?

Mad - better that this is sorted now. It will all be fine even though itr doesnt seem like it at the moment.

DD2 still very hot. I have sore throat and feel coldy too now. Sorry havent posted anything vaguely housework related for ages and used to be so anal about flylady

swanriver · 12/03/2009 18:17

x- post EV, I've got a sore throat too, only just accepting it, never get them, sorry your dd is so feverish. Going to take some garlic immediately and hopefully it will go in 24 hours.

Ruby - not trivial at all. You've been exposed to the reality of vulnerability . Have a glass of wine and get DH to deal with the girls bedtime.

EustaciaVye · 12/03/2009 18:46

BTW Ruby - DD1 loved her Birthday present. Thank you so much for your help

Why would he think you an idiot? You are coping in traumatic situation with three small children, you are masterful and brave. Have some hot sweet tea as well. If necessary don't take children to school tomorrow (or maybe someone else could take them for you) and spend all day at home watching films recovering.

Hello

galen · 12/03/2009 20:04

evening all gosh a late check in from me today!
mad sorry to hear your news. It will be better to get it sorted now, but I know that doesnt make it any easier. Will be thinking of you - hope all goes well tomorrow.MrMad hang in there, and lots of happy healthy DC vibes to the minimads XX
grouchy feel free to drop by anytime to kick my DH up the bum LOL
dylsmum hope cold hasnt developed
wendy Yes it does show doesnt it how much FLYing has helped! This time last year the house was always in chaos when DH got home - should be glad he noticed I suppose! To be fair he is normally really good about minding littlies etc... just a case of both of us having had stressful days and both needing the other to take up some slack I think!
Glad DD's finger is doing well
swan youre sounding very organised for party. Think iced cake should be fine for a couple of days at least.
ruby gosh - sounds like you coped really well! The one time I had a crash, (with DS1, DDs 1and 2 in car) I was a snivelling wreck for ages afterwards. Would in no way have been calm enough to catch bus home. I think you did wonderfully. Wish I could send you some virtual wine! Guess tea and choccie bics might work. Hope you feel better about it all tomorrow.
scatty hi...sorry forgot what I was going to say LOL
EV hope DD is better soon
wolf hi!

Right well anyone-I-Missed hi!

So a busy day here!
Have taken umpteen lmillion bags of rubbish/broken vacuum cleaners/ fallen apart clothes airers/piles of huge brambles etc... to the tip!!
Took all day really to gather all up and transport! But well worth it.Front of house now looking much more respectable, and have bought some primulas to plant in newly dug borders! ( will have to do tomorrow as I ran out of daylight LOL)
Did manage to do basic FLYing though to keep vague sense of order to house!
Had argument discussion with DH about last night, seem to have reolved things. We both just had stressful days really and no one to take up slack!
DD4 been much better today as out in garden most of day (and excited by trip to the tip LOL)
So that is the good stuff...
The bad bits:
DC fed emergency fish fingers and oven chips due to not sorting out dinner still they were thrilled and it wont kill them LOL
DD1 been in trouble at school for being unkind to another girl (supposedly her best freind) had to have a long chat with her, and deal with situation so feeling a bit sad and bad mummyish... but dealt with now...

Now to do:
kitchen tidy
Laundry reboot
Fill in forms/write cheque for DDs 2 and 3 school trip
Read book

Tomorrow:
Plant primulas!
One more tip trip with remaining rubbish!
Plant up hanging basket
MUST BAKE!!! - make biccies and nice pudding for me and DH
Sort dinner LOL

totally OT but just reminded myself how miffed I am with constant requests for cash from school:
week before last £1.00 each for art week (£4.00 total)
This week £1.00 each for science week (£4.00 tptal)
DS and DD1 to theatre last week £10 each (toatl £20)
DD 2 trip next week £10
DD4 trip next week £6.00
DS1 apparently HAS to buty practice SATS books £3.00
and here I was thinking school would be cheaper than Home Educating LOL

Right better dash... See youall tomorrow - will check in earlier I promise!

swanriver · 12/03/2009 20:26

Galen, re £, in Ireland you have to BUY (or buy sh I suppose the school textbooks and exercise books for the year's work. My sister has a long list of things she has to provide for each school year for three kids(state school) It's expected that parents will budget for this (not sure if there is a grant for lowincome families).
So I suppose we get off lightly, though I wouldn't really mind buying books.

I need to go to the tip too. It was on my list today . It is a delightful feeling isn't it, and strangely cathartic watching all those other people also dumping their stuff.

Thanks for icing info.
Dcs in bed now, stories read, pasta eaten but I think I'll wait till tomorrow.

galen · 12/03/2009 20:38

Hi swan yes I forgot about that in Ireland! DH is Irish, and all his family in Ireland. His mum had 7 of them to buy for although I know a lot got passed down. Shouldnt moan I suppose!
Generally I dont mind buying books... but SATS books... not a huge fan of SATs TBH. More in favour of well rounded learning than grilling and parrot learning. DS is predicted level 5's for all his so may just tell teacher he doesnt need anymore practice and that he'll be out enjoying the fresh air , or researching something he's interested in instead LOL
And yes I REALLY enjoyed the tip - is that sad? I have to admit I have never been on my own before as this is normally a DH job, but we had sooo much to get rid of, and DH is on a course on Sat etc...I drove home with a huge grin LOL

Must dash again LOL

galen · 12/03/2009 20:39

Oh Hi! wheeshtyergibberish are new? Or someone old in disguise, or just from before my time LOL Welcome anyway!

galen · 12/03/2009 20:42

meant to say are you new of course ... appears I cant type at all tonight LOL

wheeshtyergibberish · 12/03/2009 20:43

Hi galen

I'm an oldie reinvented with a new twist on my name

Do still recognise a lot of 'faces' though!

Suddenly decided today that I need to get back into flying when I noticed all the frozen peas which have fallen out of the (freezer probably years ago) and have embedded themselves into the fridge handle underneath.... I used to be so organised!

wheeshtyergibberish · 12/03/2009 20:44

brackets in wrong place there...

galen · 12/03/2009 20:46

swan are you Irish BTW? Is your family in Ireland or has your sister moved there?

Going now really honestly LOL

galen · 12/03/2009 20:48

WSGibberish oh Hi! Only been here since Jan myself, but LOL at frozen peas - they do turn up in the darndest places dont they LOL Good luck with the re-FLYing!

Wolfcub · 12/03/2009 20:49

ruby a car crash however small can really shake you up, it'll probably really hit tomorrow or the day after (sorry I speak from 3 seperate experiences). It's no harm not having insurance details, as long as you have his registration number it will all be fine as your insurance company should be able to access details of his insurance using that info. Just take care of yourself and try to take it easy tomorrow. If you haven't already called the insurance company you should do it asap (Wolf teaches granny to suck eggs). Tell dp to bugger off, he wasn;t in the accident and he doesn't know the circumstances! (yes buses are ridiculously expensive). My first ever accident my dad came to get me from the scene and yelled at me despite the fact that I was really shaken and injured - it doesn't help. The third accident I had he kept his mouth shut!

mad much love to you and yours.

galen how is FIL doing?

made dinner but it was a disaster, we have ordered pizza

wheeshtyergibberish · 12/03/2009 20:49

Thanks for the re-welcome

I should be around a lot - if I know what's good for my house...

galen · 12/03/2009 20:49

I'm not here, I'm not here, I'm not here.....
I'm actually tidying the kitchen.....

wheeshtyergibberish · 12/03/2009 20:57

Hi ruby

Sorry to hear about the shunt with the car. Really shakes you up when something like that happens. Weirdly, my car is in the garage this week (due out next Monday) because of someone driving into me at a roundabout last December! He admitted being in the wrong at the time but is now denying liability .

Only saying this because I DID get his reg no. and all the relevant details. But if the other driver is going to be a twat, they will do it whether you get all the info at the time or not. Hope you are getting over the shock - have a lovely hot bath and a cup of cocoa.

mad Hope you get everything sorted and are feeling well soon xx
