Lovely dress EV Total bargain too

wendyredredrobin · 06/03/2009 16:40

No saga I am not joking. Bride has over a dozen Radley bags . I am thinking of asking to borrow one instead of buying one. I have never really been one to go with the crowd ifykwim. I have a Radley my mum bought me but it is very battered as I use it constantly and the first thing to go was the dog. Sorry for any Radley lovers, they are very nice handbags but I just don't like being told what to do!
Hope your friend is ok, what sort of scan is she having?
Ruby Get you
Galen glad you're feeling better btw.

Have just made the brack (like a tea bread) and flapjacks so will be even fatter tomorrow. Oh well better go on a diet next week

Hi Ruby do you mean me to the hen night (bride has imposed a Radley handbags only thing)? I think it's a brilliant idea Glad I am not being awkward again and that you agree with me!

grouchyoscar · 06/03/2009 16:49

about your friend Saga

sagacious · 06/03/2009 17:00

I am gobsmacked
Literally
About the radley requirement

I truly truly am

I do not know what to say !

(this does not happen often)

wendyredredrobin · 06/03/2009 17:04

at saga
I couldn't believe it either! I have an a Radley purse that SIL bought me for Xmas (too small to use so still in its little pink bag they all come in) so may use that and say it's the best I can manage! Hen day has cost me £70 already and that isn't including the Betty's, cocktails or posh meal lol

Would love to do it Ruby but don't want to cause an argument - she is the type to take offence (it is DH's cousin so we are not close). Shame though

swanriver · 06/03/2009 17:21

Wendy, when I got married, I was so worried about asking my friends to pay for anything that I invited them all to the botanical gardens with their small children (they all had small children except me LOL) for a picnic. It seemed a good idea at the time, but in retrospect was not really a showstopper .
So in years to come, you will remember this pageant of fun!

swanriver · 06/03/2009 17:24

If she's not close I do think you should take a discreet stand, she may get worse.

scattyspice · 06/03/2009 17:38

Hi again .

wendy that is ridiculous!
sag fingers crossed for your friend.
EV dress is gorgeous. Do you have shoes? I bought a bag like that when we took our two to a wedding (they were 4 and 2). I filled it with nappies, wipes, snacks, drinks, dinnosaurs, dollies, sweets etc...

Done:
DS spellings and reading (he came home with a note saying 'On Monday I did a spelling quiz and i got 1 right' )
laundry

To do
wash up etc.

TheMadHouse · 06/03/2009 17:59

Wendy I have a couple I could lend you from BC (Before Children). Plain black large one, large pinky stripped one and also a dog smallish one. I never use them, used to have them for work

I am more of a fabric bag girl, as if something spills I can pop it in the washer.

I have been for a potter round the block with DH and the boys to see if we could get my bowels moving (TMI) they are very sluggish even with laxatives (ended up with suppositories in hospital and they didnt work). I popped my drains in a handbag

I have also had fish and oven chips for tea with DH and the boys - it is nice to all eat together.

Sag Sorry about your friend.

EV Love the dress, really sylish

EustaciaVye · 06/03/2009 18:07

Thanks everyone about the dress. I have no shoes, hat, shurg or jewellery tro go with it but I am sure they will come

swanriver · 06/03/2009 18:09

I remember, that's horrid sideeffect of morphine, and lying still. Poor you.

sagacious · 06/03/2009 18:20

evJust checked the dress thread, I love the neckline on that dress (am crap at accessories though )

Still waiting for news on friend (she's been having headaches/nausea)

mad fingers crossed for movement soon is it too crass to suggest a bowel watch rather than a boob watch ??

Have abandoned all pretence of clearing up the house and am drinking white wine

(dh has taken dc's to cricket practice)

Apologies if I get a bit "I love you mannnn" in a while....

galen · 06/03/2009 18:21

Evening all
Must be brief...Ds going on scout camp any minute....
wendy glad your dd's finger is doing well. Yay for quick hosp app and no dressing!
sag hope your friend is OK
swan Yes , I think Kerfuffle is right - agree its a great word!
wendy(again) Gosh at hanbag! I am cleary not in touch with hanbag fashion ( or probably any fashion come to that!) as havent got a clue what a radley is (but sounds like I couldnt afford one!!) LOL Have only used very large , easily washable nappy bags for years LOL
mad glad you've been up and about a bit amd had a nice tea. LOL at drains in a hanbag - hope it was a radley
everyoneelse Hi!

Had a good day here. Did 45 mins gardening this morning which was just lovely. Sun was shining and DD really enjoyed it. Have now cleared the back corner of the back garden (the worst bit of both gardens - brambles, nettles the lot!) and have dug it over. Soil doesnt seem to bad actually so think this will become my veggie patch!
Also made yummy cheesecake for me and DH tonight...
and have finally MOPPED FLOORS YAY ( the colour of the water was abit yuck !)

Now Ds drop off for coach for scout wk/end
Littlies to bed
Dinner me and DH
Kitchen tidy

Hoping to do more gardening at wk/end. i had forgotten what a good tonic gardening could be!
Also all going swimming...and watching DVD with popcorn with DD's 1 and 2 tomorrow night...

Right DS needs to go...better dash
Happy date night all
See youtomorrow

TheMadHouse · 06/03/2009 18:21

swan It is awful TBH - will discuss with the nurse when I ring with my fluid results in the morning.

We stopped all codine etc a couple of days ago

grouchyoscar · 06/03/2009 18:44

Good for you to go for a walk mad Don't ov er do it though (hark at me huh ). It's great to have you back

scattyspice · 06/03/2009 18:55

Mad - are you drinking enough water? I agree that walking around (if you are well enough) is a good idea. Good luck!!

Galen - that sounds a productive day .

wendyredredrobin · 06/03/2009 19:14

Thanks all Galen Radley bags are expensive and they all have a small scottie dog on them. You'll have seen them.
Mad thanks for the offer! Think I will just ask the bride tbh, it's her ridiculous idea after all! If I don't pluck up the courage I will take you up on it! Haven't got an outfit yet so not sure what I'll need. Plus I'll be CHILD FREE for a whole 12 hours so won't need a bag to stuff wipes and nappies into!!!
swan I had a meal in an Italian for my hen night - 50 odd women screeching and all for £8.50 for three courses on happy hour ... and I remember it very fondly. I think this extravaganza may be remembered but not necessarily for the amount it cost!
I'm going to start on the Rioja, Ruby

TheMadHouse · 06/03/2009 19:45

scatty my water intake is great - I can not stay away from the loo for number ones!!!

I felt better for a small walk in the fresh air - it has been a lovley day outside

wendy I have no issues lending one - they are just sat in the cuboard

I had a really quiet hen night, just a couplpe of close freinds and a night in - I am not an out and about kind of gal

Wolfcub · 06/03/2009 19:55

wolf crawls in waves pathetically and says hello all I have had a bit of a day and I am totally physically and mentally exhausted

ehm thank you for the thread

mad can you try black coffee, it has a positive effect on the bowels!

ev I love the dress, dare i suggest that silver accessories would look great with that colour

wendy not surprised you are annoyed it really annoys me sometimes that bridesmaids/hens etc are expected to spend such a large amount of money without consideration for whether they can afford it. Glad dds finger is improving

grouchy you take it easy Mrs or I shall crawl over there and bat you on the nose

MIL has gone into hospital for reconstruction, apparently op will be 9 hours (god knows what they are doing to her) and she will be in for a week. FIL is still going to the footy tomorrow though .

done
wm unloaded, reloaded and on
washing folded, washing hung up
quick kitchen and living room tidy
bathroom s&s
ds taken to nursery
ds picked up from granny's

TheMadHouse · 06/03/2009 19:59

Wolf She must be having a tansflap or something similar - where they take part of her tummy or back to enlarge the brest. Impants take much less time - I got 2 in less than that I hope she recovers well - sending all my best wishes.

Black coffee may help bowels, but I can not DO coffee. I will be like the duracel bunny in acid
