Hmm, not sure decaff would have same effect. Could you ask dp to give you a gentle stomach massage or would that be a bit too much at the moment? Failing that a tin of prunes!

DP is just speaking to MIl, apparently she is having transflap using her stomach bits, apparently they have to remove part of one of her ribs in order to sort out all the vessels OUCH! Poor woman.

mad thank you for your good wishes, I am very fond of her even though she isn't actually related by blood to either of us (tis dp's ridiculously complicated family set up) she is a lovely woman and a fantastic grandma to ds.

apparently it's a free perforator flap not a transflap, not sure what diff that makes

Hi Wolf!

Using the muscle and skin from the abdomen
A flap of fat and some muscle, with its overlying skin, is taken from the abdomen. It is then tunnelled upwards from the abdomen and put on the chest wall to create the shape of a breast. This method usually gives enough tissue to match the remaining breast, so an implant is not usually needed.

This type of operation is referred to as a pedicled TRAM flap because the transverse rectus abdominis muscle is used.

Benefits and disadvantages
Breast reconstruction using muscle, fat and skin from the back or abdomen, is a major operation and needs a hospital stay of at least one week.

The pedicled TRAM flap can only be used for women who are in good health and do not smoke. After the muscle of the abdominal wall has been removed, a mesh is used to strengthen the muscles to prevent hernias or bulges. However, a few women may still develop a hernia or bulge

Wolf hope this helps - it is from the macmillan site and explains in a really basic term.

Oh and I have "been" - tummy rub from DH, hot flannels and hot steaming tea.

swanriver · 06/03/2009 21:23

Evening has gone well here so far..fishcakes for both dcs and dh, but he had garlic and ginger bok choi and mushroom with his (so did NOT resort to chinese takeaway in protest at nursery food)
I fell asleep as usual reading Famous Five, woke with a start to find dd arranging blanket over me
paperwork problem nearly nearly solved

TMH, chocolate, or even very strong hot cocoa might help?

Galen, digging is beyond me, how do you manage all this energy? My mother is very fond of debrambling, it is her favourite tonic for feeling low, but I think she just tugs and snips rather than digging.

off to sittingroom now to sit with dh now (telly bonding)

TMH, thank goodness Tea is a miracle cure for everything. Have a good night's sleep as well.
