EV It can be tough when you are needed for the home business and still have your own job. Can you pay yourself an income to cover loss of earnings yet? Hope yeyes feel better soon

Morning Swan you sound chipper

I LOVE my new bed. DS2 was unwell (running a temp), so calpol given and then lots of cuddles in mummys bed and we all fell asleep and had a good nights sleep too. Need to get used to the matress a bit more though.

Vacume has just arrived galen not unpacked it yet, will do that tonight

We are off out for the day. I am dropping DS1 at Mums (for his daddy to collect) and then collecting a friend and her two and going to Newcastle - Ikea, COSTCO etc

Anyway will catch you all later

new mattress do take a bit of getting used to. Remember one that seemed like iron board (luxury orthopaedic)at first is now unbelievably comfortable.

dyls enjoy the museum

wolf good list - youre doing well!

Have done a bit of cleaning this am.

DH has rung. he is on hios way home. FIL surgery went OK, but prognosis is not good. At best if he is well enough for radiotherapy soon he will have about 2 months decent quality of life. Less if he is not well enough for radiotherapy, and if he doesn't make a good recovery from the surgery he may never leave the hospital. DH is so sad. Was crying on the phone. It's so hard to believe. He is so young really. He and MIL have spent years raising 7 children and working hard and now he wont even get to retire and have any time for them. DH's youngest brother is only 14. How awful to loose your dad at that age. I keep feeling all teary thinking about it. Our DC don't know yet. DS will take it worst I think. They dont see them that often as they are in Ireland, but FIL always does little things with his grandad whenwe go over Now stressing about funerals etc..... must stop thinking about it. DH will be home this Eve, need to be straong for him - feel helpless though, not much I can do or say....

Going to put my hoover together... then out for frash air after lunch...

may BBl, or if not see you all tomorrow.

galen I'm so sorry, I hope FIL is strong enough for radiotheray.
ruby re card for MIL, I just want something to make her smile, she is quite young and has had a pretty tough year. If you have the time I would be grateful and will pay for all materials but please feel free to say no if you are too busy.

galen mad I am dying to hear about the vac. I ordered one on sunday after I smashed the body of my 6 year old dyson on the side of the wheelie bin. Poor thing has never had a problem before and I've killed it. When mum told me the repair would be £60 and a new vac was £46 I opted for new, I am hoping I like it and thanks to mad for posting the bissell link too.

swanriver · 20/02/2009 13:41

Galen, it sounds really really hard for you all, and another mountain to climb. Today I was talking to a 70 year old lady whose husband died of a brain tumour at 35 leaving her with three small children. She is really an inspiration but it must have been truly awful for her despite family support. I always feel ashamed to complain about anything when I'm with her, she is so positive about her life.
We have had another good morning exploring the local area on foot and bus, whilst two kids were at their club. Found another stretch of river we'd never discovered.
Casserole for lunch, children squabbling, now calmer after being locked in garden for 10 mins I'm afraid to say but they managed to escape and climb round to ring frontdoor bell, which cheered them up so .
Also managed to get in some vp this morning hurrah.
House is MESSY. Hope dcs reach some sort of equilibrium playwise so that I can sort a bit of it out before weekend.

swanriver · 20/02/2009 13:48

Wolfcub, I am always banging my inner dyson thingymajig against rocks in garden to get dust out, is that what happened to break yours? I will be wary next time.

Twins seem to be playing nicely fingers crossed, ds1 is obsessing over some word puzzle. I must seize the moment and run up and down the stairs now.

EustaciaVye · 20/02/2009 13:55

Galen - your DH and family must be in bits

Swan - you were right. I work about 10 hours a week doing books, payroll, H&S, etc for DHs co. It is growing so I have to choose between this role and looking after DDs really as I cant do both.

Day out nice. Wish DD21 would have a nap though...

Ruby - can we expect some post from your DDs soon? Or did it not work as planned? Also, do you think youll be able to post DDs present this week? Needed the week after

Wolfcub · 20/02/2009 14:29

swan yes I banged it on the wheelie bin to losen the contents and managed to get what must have been a weak point, I couldn't find any spare bodies on line (sob). It still works but the seal with the body is not very good so the suck isn't as strong and it is very very noisy, I'm going to keep it for DIY jobs and the cellar

EHM · 20/02/2009 14:45

sorry not read thread I need your help ladies. bought these Washable Ready Mix Paint paints for ellie today. I now have a very upset little girl because I can't get paint off with warm water & soap. she is beside herself. Her hands & finger nails are stained blue!

EHM · 20/02/2009 14:48

sorry here Paints

wendyredredrobin · 20/02/2009 14:54

EHM I had the same experience last year with the same paints. they are rubbish!! don't worry, tell Ellie that the paint comes off after a couple of days. I think it came off after a long soak in the bath and then faded overnight. I think I said something to George (who was equally upset like Ellie)about paint fairies coming to collect it and he had to watch out for them because they were very tiny. He spent the next two days looking for them on his fingers!!

wendyredredrobin · 20/02/2009 14:55

Hello all being hassled for the pc by DS so not too long, also dd still asleep so best get her up!
Only time to say Galen am thinking of you and your family lots. There's nothing you can say to DH. Just a big hug and keep strong so he doesn't have to worry about anything else.

Ludaloo · 20/02/2009 14:58

Thanks to Ruby and Jas

Hi Bianca I'm pleased to see you!

EHM Oh poor little thing! Its really annoying isn't it when things don't actually do what they say they will do! I hope it comes off soon.

Hi Mad....your bed sounds great! We need a new bed. I'd love a king size!

EHM · 20/02/2009 15:25

thankswendy I'll try the paint fairy story I've explained its not her fault as I think she thought she had done something wrong I said it was the silly paints that Mummy bought. She said "mummy it was your fault' with a very serious look & tone
tears have stopped, after a chocolate egg & cow biscuit. I know there will be more once dh gets home.
better go & clean up the paint pots & brushes. THanks ladies I knew I could count on you all..x.x.x.x

EHM · 20/02/2009 15:28

oops also galen my friend is going through similar with her dad. She said lots of hugs from her dh & knowing that friends are there to listen is helping. IT must be such a difficult time for you all as a family.

EustaciaVye · 20/02/2009 16:20

I now have a flood in my garage. Think the pipes that the washing machine drain into are knackered.

scattyspice · 20/02/2009 17:32

Hi all.

Have been to my mums for a few days with DC. Had a lovely time but DS was sick on the way home and car broke down!

Haven't caught up yet, hope half term has been ok.

Galen - huge sympathy from me.

I will catch up when i have done some flying .
