I have also made a start on the arts and crafts cuboard in the dinning room too

I am currently copying Wiggle and learns off Sky+ to DVD to keep for DS2. The Wiggle mad one and need to do the same for Backyardigans (we have 40 espisodes Sky+d) DS1 is Backyardigan mad

Swimming kit at door

I realised I forgot to take my HRT yesterday, which would explain the night sweats

morning all
mad hope you have a restful day.

wolf hope your feeling better about things today.
its prob just frustration on part of your ds (not that it makes it easier to deal with)
do you (or your mum) give warnings over things e.g. in 5 mins we need to go in, 2 mins to go then when going in to make lunch or whatever it is. then its time to go now we need to go and make lunch what do you think tuna or ham today.
sort of thing explain what yor doing and just chatter generally and happily along ifyswim
i do think he a little bit young to be told off at a later time, tots live in the here and now and half hour ago is miles away in their little heads
just a thought would he not walk up the steps wth help (instead of carrying him, or had the carrying occured because he wouldnt come?)

today i have spent half an hour defrosting the car.
taken ds to school
been to pc world for ink
in the pet shop for dd's replacement fish. please let this one live a bit longer!! i have bought a diff variety of goldfish to see if we have more luck.

i need to
wash up
tidy
hoover
s&s bathroom
fold dry washing
unload washer
load washer
make dd's lunch
go to my nans to take her shopping (not looking forward to this as is icy on town roads and she lives in the villages

anyway best get on!

swanriver · 04/02/2009 10:19

gratin dauphinoise with something
pasta bake

Wolfcub · 04/02/2009 10:30

Morning all the day has started well in the Wolf den. The radiator fell off the wall in the night and has flooded the kitchen hall and cellar. No central heating or hot water until at least tomorrow and water and black sludge everywhere. Grrr

Mopped up the worst in the kitchen before I came to work.

dyls the stairs outside mums are steep concrete and are open to the ground on one side. The garden is also open with an 8 foot drop down onto the paving and no fence , I had a number of unpleasant accidents on them as a child so if ds is not fully cooperating the safest way is to carry him. YOu and jas are right though I shouldn't have spoken to him about it later, it didn't help and it wasn't fair on him. Its just very difficult sometimes juggling work and home and parents and nursery I think I make a lot of mistakes. We do try to do countdowns and give choices but as you would expect with a 2 year old it doesn't always work. Hey Hum, at least today is another day.

galen · 04/02/2009 10:33

Morning all mad thanks for thread, sorry bout your night.
wolf hope things work out with DS and your mum
wendy sorry youre feeling rough. I pretty much always go to bed at 9 pm LOL I get stressed if I am up after 10! Mind you we do have ridiculously early mornings here!

So I'm also feeling a bit rough today. After one glorious morning where Ds2 slept till 6.30, he has gradually been pushing back his start to the day. Today it was 4.30 am! He had a feed, but there was no way he was going back to sleep , tried snuggles in our bed but he just wanted to climb on me and poke my eyes out! So early start it was LOL

Got a fair bit done
Morning routine
Kids to school in snow!
Bol sauce in slow cooker
Called in to shops for few bits and pieces
Thorough hoover of lounge, and shifted out various things ready for carpet cleaner

House sort of in chaos now.... not sure what's hapened!DD has trashed dining room whilst I was doing lounge, and need to clean up in kitchen after making bol sauce....

Seriously lacking in motivation today though. Have urge to hide under a duvet all day?!?
So avaoiding everything by sitting here with cuppa and slice of banana bread....
Will get up and get on any minute...really!

BBL!

swanriver · 04/02/2009 10:48

Wolf and Galen really feel for you re: tiredness and sludge
btw Wolf sounds like sort of situation anyone would want to vent over, your mother included. I would NOT have been patient in step sit unless on mind altering substances.

galen · 04/02/2009 11:41

Oh bum.Carpet cleaning man just been. Looked at carpet and said cause its wool (which holds dirt apparently - so really bad choice of carpet LOL) and because of "soil level" (ie cause it is so flamin filthy!) he couldn't garauntee it would come up very well. Have left it . No point wasting £25 to still have filthy carpet. He did very kindly add 4 huge muddy footprints to it though, so now its even worse than before I tried to get it cleaned!
Off to read thread on removing stains from carpets....
Sometimes I wonder why I even bother trying to keep a house with 6 kids in clean and tidy at all.

Might just go and make some giant chocolate muffins instead.
Now having a very Bleugh day
Oh and DS wont sleep, and dd4 has just thrown a toy at him.....so great all round...
Deep breath....

swanriver · 04/02/2009 11:46

Galen they always say that. CALL HIM back -it will better for some cleaning. anyway wool usually comes up a treat.
or you can hire those carpet shampooers? A job for ds1?

TheMadHouse · 04/02/2009 11:54

Igalen We were told wool was the best choice of carpet - how strange. I agree with Swan - some cleaning is better than none

Wolf SOunds like a shit start to the day. Hope you are OK and heating sorted asap, espeically in this weather

Wendy Wasnt one of your resolutions earlier nights?

I have been swimming
Washer is on with swimming things in
Mum and DS1 home
Lunch in oven
Bedding in TD

I am having a cup of tea, before I have some paracetamols - I have a headache

OP posts:
galen · 04/02/2009 12:18

Oh double bum! wish I'd got it done now!
It was his suggestion to leave it though- thought he would have tried to pursuade me to get it done TBH. Will have a think about it.
wolf missed your post earlier about your start today - sounds a nightmare. Hope you get it sorted soon.

Really need to get off here now and do something, anything in fact! Sooo un-motivated today......

EustaciaVye · 04/02/2009 12:18

galen - get a quote from someone else.
wendy - from your mums actions last night, agree dont go away.

braved the drive to school. Have managed to clear the kitchen this morning and it looks nice. Living room is diff matter so plan to do 15 mins now before I drop DD2 at childminders and go to work for a couple of hours.

swanriver · 04/02/2009 12:25

Find a new carpet cleaner tomorrow not the tiresome one. He sounds v. irritating and unprofessional.
Video for dd4, sleep/lie-down for you and ds2 after lunch? I think you must be superwoman to be still on your feet.

Finally off to shops.
Floors swept
laundry on
mats shaken
paperwork adjusted
two disgusting saucepans in garden dealt with

scattyspice · 04/02/2009 12:33

Hi all.

Mad and galen - sympathies for bad nights, take it easy today.

Wolf - what a nightmare! Just what you need! Also I think your mum has to accept that he is just being a toddler and take the rough with the smooth. I found my mum handled DC better when they were babies than toddlers (you wonder how these women managed to raise their own kids don't you!).

To do
mission
laundry
ds reading
tel mum.
book nursery

swanriver · 04/02/2009 12:44

my mum used to pretend we spent all day sleeping in our prams peacefully, at the bottom of the garden and ate everything etc etc. Then one day she let slip that she used to wake up with all 4 dcs in her bed (serious co-sleeping), my sister only ate liquidized eggnog till 7 yrs, and we all stayed up till all hours when she couldn't face putting us to bed in summer! Her memories were entirely selective.

scattyspice · 04/02/2009 13:00

LOL swan. I love to catch my mum out. She initially claimed that she loved every moment of our childhood and we were perfectly behaved etc. Then it slips out that I was left to scream in a pram at the bottom of the garden (they must have had long gardens in those days ) as I wouldn't 'fit' the prescribed routine! She has also confessed that I was a handful and very tantrum prone!

Countingthegreyhairs · 04/02/2009 15:21

Just popping in to say hello

Thanks for posting the mission and baby-steps Mad -

Hope everyone who is feeling rough feels better today ...

Wolf - tried your recipe for recipe for spicy lamb burgers yesterday and they were terrific - thanks!!!

galen · 04/02/2009 17:14

Evening all.
Not much improvement in the day here!
DS seriously sad ( teeth...still) DD being a general nightmare ( I think cause DS is needing so much from me at the mo) DD 3 absolutely exhausted and also being a nightmare as a result.
DD 1 being lovely on the other hand and helping lots.
DH just got in now. I have sent him to do bath time, having done super early dinner (love my slow cooker LOL)

Did make an apple pie this afternoon which turned out lovely even with all DD's pastry help!

And thats about all I've achieved.
Huge pile of washing still to put away
Floors remain unmopped and in a serious state now
Filthy lounge carpet now depressing me LOL May try and find another carpet cleaner tomorrow...
A serious lack of flying or organisation of any sort today.....

Going to chill this evening and hope I wake up remotivated tomorrow (and not at 4.30 am pleeeaaase!)

galen · 04/02/2009 17:22

Hmm well yes I think youre all right about the wool carpet (of course LOL)
According to carpetinfo.co.uk (who even knew there was such a site LOL) wool is a great choice for carpets cause the dirt is less likey to stick to the fibres, and is more easily released when they are cleaned!
Obviously cleaning bloke was a and didn't have a clue, so will ring round a bit tomorrow!
