Well done bike ride stunt riding minimads.
dd had friend this afternoon - and she and he(!)played very nicely lego and dressing up. Ds2 hid upstairs after a bit of jealous screeching. Ds1 was doing athletics unathletically..
Tea eaten and cleared. Dh has appeared very early so that I could go to Beavers to help, but even in my walking shoes serious danger of slippping on way so I've given up and come home almost immediately. Too frightened to drive.
Everything seems a muddle, but kids have done homework and dh had done ds1's with him. Now they are experimenting on electric keyboard. wish I was at Beavers after all..

Wine sounds a good idea.

Hello everyone Galen with 6 children would it not be worthwhile investing in one of those carpet cleaning vacuum cleaners that you can get? I hired one when we moved into our last house and it was good but my SIL has a Vax one which seems to clean the carpet pretty well. Agree with everyone else, some cleaning of the carpet is better than none. The bloke sounds rubbish and a good job you didn't stick with him! And you are doing a FANTASTIC job being a fabulous mum to your children - you achieve so much every single day! I could not get up at 4.30 am.
Mad has your headache gone? Yes thank you for the reminder on the NY resolution!
Wolf on the radiator what a pain. Steps at your mum's sound a nightmare. I don't know what else to suggest really. I think you somehow have to make your mum see he is only 2 and not to be blamed for hitting out (not to say not to deal with it, just it's normal behaviour!)
dyls hope fish last longer this time! have you asked the pet shop for advice?
scatty you're right about the bottom of the garden thing, it's what my MIL always says too
hello Greyhairs Ruby EV grouchy

I have told my parents we are not going on the weekend away, my mum looked upset but my dad rescued me and said he wouldn't be going as he wouldn't enjoy it for worrying, if he was me. Yay! Think he got the msg really after last night's escapade. SIL been up again today to fix bandage - so glad we have her!

My DS been not so dear today Think he is very tired. From the minute I picked him up he's been a nightmare - all tantrums and the world revolving around him etc etc. DD very clingy still and not feeling so good, not eaten much at all today.

Not going to yoga even, too tired . I went to post a letter today when my mum popped in for a cuppa. As I was walking to the post box (2 min walk) I felt strange - then I realised it was the first time I had been alone since last Wednesday night when I went to yoga! Seriously in need of me time (never mind couple time, just want me time lol)

Going to have an early night for once tonight. DH at basketball so will get a bit of time alone!

TheMadHouse · 04/02/2009 19:49

Wendy I hope you manage an early night. Ds2 still not settled - it is a battle of wills at the moment.

galen You are doing really well - what will the children remember - not a grubby carpet I am sure.

Swan We are icy too - It is not nice. My mum bought me some grip on things for my shoes, not very elegant, but they work.

I too am planning an early night, with lovley clean bedding on the bed and a good book, after something to eat and master chef.

Wolf Hope you are OK and all is well

Groucy Is Boris still in his box?

Ruby Did you manage any cleaning at all

Dyls Maybe you just need a bog standard goldfih?

Bugger - I have forgot the rest

Greyskull How are you and the boys?

ruby that sounds like a good plan to me.

evening all

house is freezing and smells like grubby radiator fluid but we have ordered a curry to cheer ourselves up

ds is in bed and my dad and I have cleared the street of ice up to the third house (we are the first) as the two ladies who live in those houses won't be able to do theirs it nearly killed us but hopefully there will be less skating down the hill tomorrow

I've also mopped the water up in the cellar i'm leaving all the other jobs until tomorrow I am too tired and sore and I can't run the washer because its a hot water fill grrr. I will be very glad to see the gas man tomorrow.

Just enjoying some 80s tunes on my new headphones

[mad] and [galen] hope you have better nights tonight
[wendy] hope dd continues to improve and you can get to bed early with your book for some alone time

waves to everyone else

EustaciaVye · 04/02/2009 20:04

Ruby - I could have written your post so am interested in how you proceed.

wendyredredrobin · 04/02/2009 20:27

oatcakes are good for snacking I find and are low in calories and slow burn carbs. I have a great recipe I use for them.
buy grapes, satsumas etc and keep them on the table/side in the kitchen to grab when needing a snack.
Magazines are good for rewards I find or just some me time (ha ha)
will post any more ideas. I have put on 7 lb over Christmas which hasn't gone yet!

EustaciaVye · 04/02/2009 21:13

Ruby - some great ideas. I have decaf tea - would solve your problem.

Wendy - I hate oatcakes, Yuk. I buy fruit for the kids but dont eat it myself.

I love the idea of focussing here.

£ for book is good idea.

Jas · 04/02/2009 21:25

Evening all

Ruby Good plan.....I only ever drink tea but decaf is ok. I can't tell the difference apart from the price tbh!

Snacks for the dds.....do they need food-based treats? I never have a stock of sweet stuff.(I am not overweight, but would eat anything sweet I could find in the evenings) DD2 will eat cake if I make it, but dd1 still thinks fruit and cream is a treat.

Also guilty of buying fruit for the kids and never easting it myself

My treat money would go towards eyelash dying, new varnish for my toenails, and maybe a manicure. I never buy books- that is what the library is for!

TheMadHouse · 05/02/2009 08:15

tada
