Laundry - all one day a week or daily load?

Which is better? I think this only applies to SAHMs really as working mums not really time to do it all in one day.

I have usually done washing as and when but get fed up with piles of clothes around all the time etc.

I let it pile up recently due to illness and spent 9.30 to 2.30 on Monday basically doing 8 days worth of clothes all the washing and ironing (and looking after 2 year old and 2 month old). It was quite satisfying to get the last lot put away before the school run. I did all the ironing except shirts.

I didn't manage the sheets or towels in this time. Just clothes for 5.

Shall I dare to leave it all to Monday again......

I am WOHm part time
there are 4 of us
do 3 loads Weds
3 loads Sat
and 1 load sun
Usually end up ironong it all on Sun evevning , joy of joys

I do the bulk of the clothes on a Monday with two further loads of the DSs' stuff on a Friday atm then do towels and sheets in the middle of the week. I try to make sure I do the ironing on Monday evening just so it's done and, yes, it makes me feel better that we don't have piles of washing hanging around.

I let ironing pile up if thats what you mean
Hate getting iron out every day or the ironing board ends up a piece of furniture in the kitchen
but get a wash on every day, although fed up with it all sitting in a pile

Can't believe I am discussing this actually. It just takes so much of my time I have actually got interested in it!!!

It was quite restful just concentrating on laundry for the whole day. I figure I could have a laundry day, a shop day, a cook day, a tidy day, a clean day. Except not enough days as I work 2 days a week and try to keep weekends free for chillin out.

i dont do it all in one day because i dont have a tumble drier and i cant get it all dry in one day. i do a load every other day usually

My new years resolution was to find a good routine and sticking to it

It was just so satisfying having these 5 piles of fresh clean clothes for everyone. Sooooo noticed how my pile was smallest and DHs was huge due to daily sports kit, shirt and t-shirt - bahh... oddly he wears his jeans till they stand up on their own

I'm a SAHM, 3 DCs - at least one wash a day and 2 on Sundays (rugby kits).

I had a phase of a 'washing day' and it does make sense, but we don't have a lot of clothes so would run out, and also it would get too overwhelming. The Flylady system is to wash and put away everyday, but they don't seem to iron anything. It's the tedious ironing and sorting which I find a drag, and I tend to leave it until Sunday.

I do a load to two loads (clothes) every day, dry on heaters or line as I have no tumble drier...it's neverending actually I'd never keep up with it if I left it for one day a week.

Although I did try for a week doing one a day and folding any thing that didn't need ironed straight out of tumble drier and putting it away felt good when both baskets empty at weekend!

It maybe only feels so good cos the big pile is really anoying!!

one wash a day in winter as I have no room to dry indoors. All on one day in summer because on a good day I can dry it all.

I do 2 or 3 loads a day, every day...and it is a 9 kilo washer!

But there are 7 of us...

I do it every day - usually 2 loads - and dry it and sort it and put it away on the same day, too.

At least 2 loads here every day. I iron on a daily/as and when required basis as it gets all crushed putting it away

I WOHM f/t
kids clothes/uniform every 2 days
Adult clothes on Weds pm, ready for cleaner to iron dh's work shirts on Thurs
Beds changed on Thurs before cleaner arrives, so bedding done Thurs early am.( 3 double beds, 2 single beds)
cleaner puts towels/bath mats in to wash just before she leaves, so I dry them thurs night.
Kids swimming kit/sports kit done Friday night after lessons.
Towels/bathmats done again Sunday.

Can you tell i spend £80 on electricity each month?

minimum one load a day (for DS1's bedding), then if there's an extra loads worth on any particular day I do it (and there generally seems to be most days lol)

Ironing get left until it's taking over my lounge though

we do atleast one load a day.i put it on while we have breakfast and hang it when i get back from school drop off.dries over night on airers and put away next morning.-i dont iron as am lazy.

wohm, part time.
2 loads every day,
tumbler drier not working, don't like it anyway,
so line dry and airer.
could not cope with any less.

I'm a wohm part time, do washing as and when. Most days I guess. We have a tumble drier but use an airer for most of the clothes and outside when the weathers good so I don't know how it could work doing it all in one go.

The ironing I used to do 2-3 times a week but I'm getting a bit lazy and its gone down to one big lot each week. I have discovered that if I tumble dry the ds' school sweaters and trousers and fold them straight away they don't need ironing

SAHM.
at least 2 loads a day, there are 5 of us, one in cloth nappies, and one constantly wetting her trousers (phase I hope)
I'd be lost without my tumble dryer atm, but line fry when I can.
iron one a week unless I need something

I'm at home and do three, four loads a week, one towels & undies & socks, two or three clothes. I only do sheets every couple of weeks..! There are four of us.
I am ruthless about not washing clothes until they are stained or smelly. It helps that where we live (Canada) the children have to wear snowsuits to play out in the winter, so ds's clothes can usually be worn twice in the same week. School clothes are worn again at weekends.
With baby #3 on the way though I will be doing more washing I suppose... sigh...

A load a day.

DH is the boss so every day is Casual Friday in his office. Sometimes he takes this too far and I have had to suggest that he change out of a t-shirt with a picture of a dinosaur doing a poo on the front of it.

He only wears a shirt that needs ironing if he's got a meeting. If he wore them every day we'd send them out - we both hate ironing.

I normally do a load a day.
When I do it that way I can wash, dry and put away at once.

IF I do more than a load or two I wash, dry and end up with piles on the bedroom floor as they dry in stages.

At least a load a day, we don't have space inside in winter or outside in summer to dry a week's washing at once, also I was back at work for 10 months full time and have just started maternity leave, one wash is easy to fit in the day and doesn't feel like hard work.
