Morning all

Can not believe I am the first to post.

I had a nice lie in today thanks to DH, it is white outside got down to -2.9

Me and the boys are off out for the afternoon to keep out of DH's way as he is painting the kitchen - yippee It needs it, never been done since we moved in over 2 years aho

So boys are having a trim
Then McDonalds is they have been good
Then I might take them to soft play or something like

I will have to put the kitchen backtogether when I get back, but it is a small price to pay.

Mad Thanks for the thread. Took a leaf out of your book last night and made a curry which made for a spicy evening

Think we're all having Family Fun Days! Except you FiveDollar who has been busy already!

Jas Xmas is a financial strain isn't it! We have car insurance for both of us and car services and MOTs for both of us to pay for this month too so know how you feel, we are borrowing from savings this month (on permanent loan)

I am only just dressed, we are all having a lazy morning here. The children are enjoying just playing I think. I have been looking on the Early Learning website, they have some good bargains on there.

The Christmas lights in our little town are being switched on tonight so we are going to put up our decorations today (a bit early for me, but children are very excited!) and go later to watch that. I need to get a star costume for DS's nursery concert - any ideas? Teacher said that star costumes are usually for girls - anyone seen one for a boy? Will try Home Bargains, Poundstretcher, Asda etc - I'm no good at making costumes!

Oh, btw, I didn't apply for the job - decided to be a SAHM for a bit longer - couldn't face the amount of work I would have to do over Christmas: planning, new classes, all new courses to learn, stuff to find and unpack from garage etc. It would take me days and days to plan for each class. Then I'd have to spend lots on new clothes and shoes for work - not having worked for over a year and having changed dress sizes, and new shelves for all my books and files, new stationery, DVDs, books ... decided it wasn't worth travelling half an hour every day to get there too, leaving the house at 7 am and getting back at 5 or 6 pm. We are managing on the money we have (just) and I'm going to try my best to make a better job of being a Mum, ifykwim. Plan more activities, do more out of the house, play with the children a bit more. Treat being a mum a bit like a job - at the minute I have got a bit lazy and lethargic about being at home.

Have a good weekend all

Afternoon

Quick hello.
I'm starting to feel slightly better, cough starting to go had first proper nights sleep for a week last night. Now heading off to town for wessex book festival. Illustrator of Gruffalo will be in the Guildhall so thought we'd make the effort. The cold might start me and DS coughing again so will possibly be a short trip.
Angel costume needed here, great business opportunity, simple costumes that look home-made for school plays etc.

Lunch is now finished, dc's fighting so time for town!
Have a good afternoon everyone
BBL for a proper post.

TortoiseRidesaReindeer · 29/11/2008 14:04

I am still feeling pretty grotty. Coughing mainly night and morning. And rather snotty. Lovely cold sore on lip! It just appeared overnight.

Going to clean the bathroom and put some washing away in a mo.

TortoiseRidesaReindeer · 29/11/2008 17:14

Cough is annoying me now!

BiancaCastafiore · 29/11/2008 20:32

I'm just home from work - a very long day and over an hour and a half extra of late night shoppers than I was expecting. Totally shattered, off to drink hot chocolate and slob on the sofa, then a bath and bed.

TortoiseRidesaReindeer · 29/11/2008 20:35

Wow Bianca. Definatly time to put your feet up! Enjoy having a rest now.

BiancaCastafiore · 29/11/2008 20:39

Minimal FLYing done.

TheGarishlyTwinkleyMadHouse · 29/11/2008 21:24

I have had a nice day out with the boys, but DS2 missed his nap, so was v groucy this evening.

DH has finnished the painting

I have tidied the kitchen and now have to find the tension wire I bought for the childrens artwork.

We are going to put our pictures and the wires up tomorrow.

He has just gone up for a well deserved bath

Although Rise pudding is just Magnolia under a different name

wendylanguage · 29/11/2008 22:47

Same here Mad my dd missed her nap and was awful by bedtime! hope your kitchen is looking lovely

Hope you're not too cold Tort and elec lasts til Tues! We have used £17 of gas today been in all day!!

We went to see a house this afternoon (for those who don't know we relocated to WEst Yorkshire from Durham last Christmas and are still living in a poxy very expensive rented house!). 3 bed semi nice street. In a complete and utter state, omg. And I don't know where we would put everything. When I go back to teaching I need a lot of room for all my files and books!

We have put the Xmas tree up but not any other decorations. Well, we haven't really got any others! Need to go and buy tinsel and stuff to titivate the house.

House is looking good apart from needing hoovering, the flying is really working!

TortoiseRidesaReindeer · 29/11/2008 23:07

Wendy Its a difficult decision about returning to work isnt it? Ive been out for over 2 years now and would like to back in theory but my confidence has plummeted and I doubt my ability to do the job now. Also childcare, travelling etc etc.
