Back in a minute with some links.

I found the opposite Earthworm - otherwise I wouldn't have stuck with it either!

Our place was in a constant mess/crisis cleaning cycle pre-FLY so getting any kind of regular routine made a noticable difference.

DP did notice, and made more effort to keep it clean and tidy.

Once I'd been going a month I actually put my routines on the kitchen wall, which means that dp sees what I am doing, and knows what to do if he is left to it, too.

I actually find it much better now I am flying.

DH has his own routine thought too - he empties the bins. does the recycling, feeds the cat, changed his litter, put the bins out etc.

He also know what mine entials of and will put the washer on etc if I dont.

SO I think it is importatant that DH understands just how much I do and to that end can do it too if needed.

Also I was struggling with depression and found the house getting on top of me. I didnt know where to start and what to do first. Dh arranged for a cleaner to come in and do a complete clean and then I started on the flybabys thread.

So it has been life changing for me.

Also I have a two and three year old, so this little and often means I can mumsnet spend more time with them.

I am a bit evangelical about it all really.

grouchyoscar · 24/11/2008 11:42

Jas you're like me. As soon as the school staff are nice to me about Ed it's waterworks time, then I feel embarrased

Soup is made and pretty damn fine if you ask me. Soup making always centres me and makes me feel better and more able to cope with everything. It's only sodding soup FPS!

Jas · 24/11/2008 11:44

I tried to make soup yesterday, forgot I had put it on, boiled it dry and burnt the pan

Thanks for the replies - very interesting and encouraging. Think I will stick with it then. And maybe fill DH in on the workings of FLY!

tortoise · 24/11/2008 11:55

Morning all.
TMH Hope boiler is sorted soon. I know what it is like without heating! Can't afford to run mine. I just use a halogen heater to keep me warm!

Bianca Hope you feel better soon. Sounds awful.

I have loads to do this week. New cooker comes Thursday. Had to take out a budgeting loan through benifits which means i will be £34 down a week until all is paid back but we needed a new cooker. Xmas dinner would have been a nightmare otherwise! And have a friends DH coming friday to see if he can wore it in for me.

I have pulled out old cooker and scrubbed the floor.
Put washing on and some in dryer.

Need to put clean/dry washing upstairs and put away if i have time.
Just generally need to do everything!!

BUT i think i have nearly bought all the kids presents for xmas.

grouchyoscar · 24/11/2008 11:55

Jas I remember I welded the pressure cooker shut with butter bean and barley soup as I forgot that pressure cookers do it quicker Took me ages to get the PC clean. I soaked it in soda crystals.

Butterbeans make good glue you know

I have no idea what I am meant to be doing wrt the fly lady but I am off to tidy DS1's room, and I am not happy about it.

I actually posted the above 1 hour ago but it didn't post. Have made a start on the room and will do some more in a bit when I have DS2 settled.

Oh it is encouraging to hear you are all noticing a difference once you have been Flying for a while...

At the moment I feel like I am just fire-fighting all the time...

But have now swished adn swiped bathroom, done the packed lunches for tomorrow and am now eating my lunch. Then I will do the lunch time washing up, swish and swipe the kitchen and start tidying, hoovering and dusting the front and dining rooms.

scattyspice · 24/11/2008 12:39

Hi all.

Hope you feel better soon Bianca. Make sure you get enough rest.

Jas - hope you ok.

Earth - My dh never does any house work, except cooking (for which I am truely grateful as I hate it) and emptying the bins. However he does do alot of DIY, gardening, car maintenance (saves a fortune) so I don't nag him. I find the little every day approach a lifesaver as I hate to feel I've wasted a chunk of my time cleaning (this way it feels as if the house cleans itself).

To do:
buy food
laundry
retrieve bulbs from under the bed!

ludaloo · 24/11/2008 12:43

I have cleared the kitchen window sill of plants etc and wiped it down and wiped the window frames down. Was really dirty!
Also cleared one worktop and de-crumbed the toaster! Always surprises me just how many crumbs fall out!
And sink/draining board cleaned too.

Think i have done ok today so far.

My ds has this bad cough and has finally gone to sleep I think, dd asleep also just getting 2 mins.

Mad I am feeling blue today too it must be in the air! Perhaps it's because you are cold as well?

grouchy what's the job app? I still haven't decided on whether to apply for mine. Closing date is Friday! Had 'scheduled' to speak to dh about it last night and he forgot despite earlier reminders. I wasn't best pleased. Of course I could have reminded him myself last night but I didn't, felt like I wanted him to remember, which was silly. Anyway, it got to nine thirty and I was too tired to think about it by then. Still didn't get to sleep though til past 11.30.

Earthworm I am finding flying is brilliant - I am no longer overwhelmed by everything in the house, I'd stick with it and don't crash and burn as flylady says.

Ruby my dc in bed at 6pm last night! hope yours ok

AnneOfAvonlea · 24/11/2008 14:41

Jas · 24/11/2008 14:58

Aww.

No one needs getting (unless you want to go to my local LEA who are Not Very Helpful)

I am ok. Was a small blip, honestly.

I've done all my list, and am very bored.

All those with no heating. Not good at all.
