put it IN WASHER on handwash/wool cycle?

DP has two quite expenisive jumpers and both say this, but will be a tw*t to handwash and get fresh and clean..so could i shove them in washer or would i ruin them?..theyre wool????

Hmmm. Would it REALLy take that long to hand wash? I just give mine a quick freshen up and a rinse. You could put in on a gentle spin prog to help get the water out.

I quite like handwashing about once a year, but the result always looks exactly the same as if I'd never bothered (although the smell is at least a bit different). So I'd say, handwash cycle. What's the point of sweaters you never wear?

If they shrink and go felty, buy some 'fun' multicoloured buttons and make a bunting cushion for your dh's side of the bed

LOL, theyre lovely and not old and like i say dp has expensive tastes as opposed to me! LOL, actual handwashing is SUCH a PITA though!, plus they have to be laid falat to dry whichever way i wash, so can only do one at a time as table will only hold one!.hmmm..and yes i would cry if i ruined them! LOL..dp hasnt told me to do them, he's put them out to get dry cleaned but i think even that would be a bit?

I would do them in the machine on a delicates cycle using Woolite or something of that sort. I wash my pashminas in the machine.

For years I handwashed religiously and then after a very messy baby related incident involving a brand new cashmere jumper I discovered that my machine does a pretty good job.

I've actually got a load of jumpers in the machine as I type.

(but I did shrink a wool/cashmere blend jumper of DHs recently when it got mixed in with the wrong load. Lucky me - it fits me perfectly now!)

well handwashed one in the sink!..with woolite...not gunna be properly clean though are they!?..at least they smell more fresh after being stuck in wardrobe all summer!pah!
Its now balanced precariously on top of a towel on top of the laid flat clothes airer over bath! FFS what a faff on!..one more to do as well!

if you have a handwash cycle on your machine i would use that.

I would put them in on delicates/handwash cycle with appropriate (Persil silk/wool) detergent.

Otherwise they would never get washed worn in our house.

thye should be clean after handwashign in sink though. if it was hot. how will it dry though

it said do not wring out!..so i squeezed and squuezed as much as i could without wringing if thats poss LOL and have laid it flat on towel on top os airer for last 2 day!!!

Am I the only lazy bugger who throws her hand wash items in the bath after I've been in it (and the water is cool) together with woolite, stirs it with the back brush and then lays them to dry across the clothes horse in the bath?

instead of wringing them out you lay them flat on a towel and roll the towel into a sausage shape (quite tightly) with the jumper inside - like an arctic roll and the jumper is the jam iyswim! this rings it out without twisting out of shape/stretching

I have a handwash pile that I collect and then put in on a handwash setting and gentle spin. I reshape on towels and everything has always been fine. In fact, I don't think I have ever hand washed by hand.

please dont think i take that much care with my own washing! i only know because i used to work in v expensive shop and people would bring back knitwear that had gone wrong at the bottom after washing, we were told to advise people how to care for it and this, aparently is the best way

If you have a handwash cycle use it

I'd put all my handwash clothes in the machine on the handwash programme, using handwash powder, but the key bit is to stick each item in a separate pillowcase and knot the end, that way they don't stretch & have minimal 'handling'.
