minorbird · 27/09/2008 10:34

Morning Shanara&cafe&allwhofollow,

I'm too rather late this morning. (Enjoyed my bottle of wine last night! )

Its big tackle the flat day, so will set about that in a mo. Got to take DD to a party this afto, would ideally like to leave her there and go gym but will see if its that sort of party first! She's at grannies tonight, so may well be another tiddly night later!

Hope everyone has a good day. x

Simply · 27/09/2008 10:39

Hello both. Good to see the FLY threads going strong! I used to be a regular on the thread btw in case you don't know me. An update: my house is being decluttered gradually despite work, kids and all the normal distractions. I now have two rooms still in need of a lot of sorting out and two that are a bit untidy, but it's much better than it was a couple of years ago so my house is proof that doing what you can to declutter bit by bit does get you to the end result you want eventually.

Shannaratiger · 27/09/2008 10:45

Now DS's birthday is over I can get back on track with the flying. First job is to find a space for the new toys, luckily they weren't too big, but he's still got a few more to go.
Jas kids can be really annoying sometimes about clothes. DD's insisting on wearing her best summer dress today! Sorry you've been feeling down at teh moment as well. Hope you can get things sorted so that you can start to feel better.
tort
Bianca sole charge of the business sounds v scary.
TMH hope you had a better night with DS1.
Lucy did you manage to sort out the baby stuff. Don't blame you not wanting to give BIL the the cot. LOL re the £1 toy we got a crane 4 years ago and the dc's are both still playing with it.
tigger how was the harvest festival?
Charlee DP thinks the clothes belong on the floor too, always a nice pile next to the laundry basket.
luda big sympathy about w/m hope you get it sorted soon.
grouchy glad you got some peace and quiet.
EV it's great with DD at school all day, means you can go out as well.
Minorbird DS is definately going through the tantrum stage at teh moment really loud shouting, stresses me and DP right out.

I've sat on the pc for way to long, face book will be on though if anyone wants a chat.
DS is now in bed so I'm off to hang the washing out in peace.

Have a good day
BBL

I also have to sort d/w and w/m now as both finished.

ludaloo · 27/09/2008 14:55

Hello all

I FINALLY have a washing machine will be picking it up tomorrow (ebay purchace)

I have been food shopping this morning and have cupboards full of yummies
Have then spent the afternoon sunbathing in the garden (well trying too...the minute my butt touches the blanket some small child wants something....loo, drink, help on the swing, me to sort out the computer, kick the ball, get a clean top because they have got their other one wet.....the list is endless!) The weather is absolutely glorious!

I've momentarily given up on the sunbathing so I'll get a drink and try again!

ludaloo · 27/09/2008 16:51

Well sunbathing turned out to be futile ..... never mind, I did manage to have a nice bath and make a lasagna, which is cooking as we speak (well..type )

I have completely manged to avoid doing any housework which makes a nice change. I'll save it all up for tomorrow which will be housework day I think......have an absolute mountain of washing to do!!

Righty ho....had better go and finish supper off.

ludaloo · 27/09/2008 17:46

Oooooooh Hello Simply nice to see you
Glad things are going ok and well done on the de cluttering

TheMadHouse · 27/09/2008 18:08

Nice to see you again Simply

We have had a family day and took my mum out too. We had a list of things we needed ir Winter duvet for DS1 (first year in his big bed.

We ended up in Ikea - got another step stool so they can both help baking, under bed storage for DS1, a clock for DS1 and some magnetic strips which we have put on his wall for pictures.

Also went to costco and got nappies and a playmobil police boat.

Took mum clothes shopping, as she has lost so much weight with this last flare up of the RA and colitis, so she is happy, although she invited herself for sunday tea tomorrow

Off for tea, will be back later

lucysmam · 27/09/2008 18:24

Good evening ladies!!

I am just in after a lovey afternoon in the pub with oh! Liverpool 1 - Everton 0!! COME ON YOU REDS!!

On another, more serious note . . . . .Nanna had the lo, lo fell down the stairs at nannas, nanna did NOT tell us until we got back from pub and shopping She is fine & has been checked out at a&e but still . . . .would have been nice to have been told my 20mo was being allowed to climb stairs ALONE!!! Slightly pissed me off, just a little bit ok, lots!

Done nothing in the house all day, just waiting for oh with kfc & gunna mooch around until asda delivery gets here. I will have a proper read after tea, just had to vent my frustration re the stairs thing somewhere! Hope you're all having a good un xx

grouchyoscar · 27/09/2008 19:11

Hello

Hope your feeling a little better Jas I do feel for you.DH is self employed and hasn't been paid for 2 months (nearly 3 now). We have started to dip into the funds I set aside for him for tax and it's getting a bit squeaky bum time here too [gulp]

CB where do you live? I got Ed a pair for £2.50 from Ethel Austin a couple of weeks ago. They are made of Croc stuff and he looks like Judge Dread in them!

Yay! Simply
Hope baby tiger had a good birthday Tiger
Thank goodness for a new WM Luda
Hope LO is none the worse for her tumble Lucys

Hey to Ruby and TMH and all who follow

I'm in trouble DH went to football and Ed to MILs. So rather than do the housework like I aleways do and as DH had put up the brackets for the porch shelving this morning I thought I'd move Ed's bedroom around. so I've moved a bed, chest of drawers and a wardrobe and re-sited toy storage. DH just said 'I was going to effing do that tomorrow' ! Like cheers mate, it only took me all afternoon. I just wanted to do something significant rather than spending my day doing the jobs no one else will do and no one notices anyway.

I've also

Made the bed
Sorted out the white washing to dry
Brought in the washing on the line
Cleaned out the cat cellar
Relined with clean paper and sawdust
Brought out the soiled litter to garbage
Emptied the dehumidifier
Put the tools from the DIY away
Put Ed's clean clothes away.

I'll catch up with the housework tomorrow.

lucysmam · 27/09/2008 20:10

hey hey hey

grouchy the lo is none the worse, she is sock on in bed & you wouldn't know she'd had a tumble listening to her 'sing' away to herself when I put her to bed! Just a bit frustrating not being told when it happened & then being told she panicked at the male nurse who saw her, when everyone knows she's not keen on men anyways

We are sat in front of the tv watching x-factor with a beer, asda delivery is put away & cupboards n freezer are full to bursting. I now have almost everything for xmas cakes, been to find market stall which sells cake decorating bits and pieces today so will be back there n a few weeks to get some bits. Wanted to do something fncy with a lake & skaters & an xmas ttree but not sure my skills stretch sooooooo far but still tempted to try it out jus to see

(sorry about spelling, laptop missing letters again)

Guna put my feet up, drink my beer, get a shower and then wash ALL the pots in the house I think before hitting the sack for the night.

luda fab news about wm btw, hope it looks lovely in the loo xx

see you all tomorrow xxx

EustaciaVye · 28/09/2008 07:32

Morning all.

Hope all well.

Letting DH have a lie in but then he is off to the tip and the supermarket later

BBL.

TheMadHouse · 28/09/2008 07:34

Morning all

Lucys Hope your LO is OK after the fall. I would be livid at nor being told straight away TBH and would not have kept my mouth shut.

Groucy Take it easy wonder woman

ANyway DH has been up most of the night with a poorley DS1, so I have let him go back to bed and I will take the early morning shift. His chest is not great, so I am going to start him on the oral steriods after breakfast

I have been roped in to taking my mum clothes shopping again today. DH is not happy as we were going to potter and do family stuff, but never mind. I am going to take DS2 with me.

I have the washer on
DW is empty
I am going to pop and start the ironing soon

cafebistro · 28/09/2008 07:35

Goodmorning Everyone

Got lots to do today. I'll BBL with a list.

ludaloo · 28/09/2008 08:59

Morning All

I'm waiting for DH to get out of bed so he can go and fetch the washing machine

I'm putting it back in the kitchen for now, as it needs plumbing in to the downstairs loo and I fear that might take too long (it has taken long enough to get the bloomin machine in the first place, let alone getting it plumbed in)
So fingers crossed everything is ok with it and there are no major catastrophies whilst getting it.

I don't think anyone (well my DH anyway) actually realises how stressful it has been without one! Its quite shocking really....can you imagine how stressful it must have been being a housewife before the days of electricity and gadgets!!!

Jas · 28/09/2008 09:03

Morning

Go and kick him luda. I've had ashort periods without a w/m and it was awful. I really feel for you. Def get it where it can be plumbed in immediately for now...

TheMadHouse · 28/09/2008 09:44

I echo Jas A swift kick is in order. I was only without one for over a week when mine broke down, but I found it so stressfull. Also straght back in to the kitchen, until the loo is sorted.

I am off in 5 mins to take my mother shopping again I think she is taking a bit of advantage, but I can not bear any aguments at the moment, espeically as me and DH are so sleep deprived. I forgot how much I hate the change in weather as it really effects DS1's chest

ludaloo · 28/09/2008 10:00

he's just gone Hurrah Hurrah Hurrah!!! I can't wait!

Our kitchen is too small for all our appliances you see. It will only fit the fridge freezer and one other major appliance.

We have the tumble dryer already in the downstairs loo, whoever lived here before must have done the same as there was a tumble dryer vent already in the wall.

So logically, the washing machine has a space in the kitchen next to the sink. Trouble is, I have a dishwasher too, which fitted into our old house no probs. When we moved here, the D/W had to be put into storage as it didn't fit (and a W/M is more important really) until we realised if we shut the back door and kept it shut we could fit both the W/M and T/D next to each other, we just couldn't use the back door then.

This was fine, until this summer, when the kids were in and out all the time (through the patio doors straight into the living room...carpets suffered big time) and we redecorated the kitchen. I decided to do away with the D/W again, so we could have use of the back door again.
I was doing ok washing the pots (even though I was the only one who ever bloomin did them) but we noticed the D/W was going manky whilst not being used....all the door seals rotted away and the inside started growing its own eco system!
So.......when the washing machine packed up and DH slung it out, we put the D/W back in the space.

There are actually pipes and connections in the downstairs loo for a W/M....just needs an outlet pipe plumbing in somewhere. This might take a while for us to be able to afford someone to come in and do, so we'll have to shut the back door off again and stick it in the kitchen for a bit instead.

I'm hoping we can get it into the loo ASAP though as the back door is very handy (our row of houses are the wrong way round you see....our back faces the street, so the front door is all the way down and round the back....nightmare with heavy shopping bags!)

I expect you are all going to sleep much better knowing all that now aren't you!!!!!

(I am a mine of useless witterings!)

ludaloo · 28/09/2008 10:09

TMH you sound as though you are doing a sterling job re: your mother. Try and find some time to rest a little though....I can see you will wear yourself out looking after everyone else so well! Poor DS....I hope he finds some comfort to sleep soon

My DD1 is suffering ATM..... I am guessing she has conjunctivitis. Her eyes have puffed up and one was stuck together this morning.
DS also has it but his are not swollen...just red and gooey. trip to the doctors in the morning for them both.
They are very prone to it....with most colds they have poorly eyes.

cafebistro · 28/09/2008 10:40

hi everyone again

Ludaloo- Glad you've got a wahing machine sorted. Ive been very lucky and always had one since the DC's arrived but as a student I didnt and used to dread my weekly visit to the launderette.

DP is working again today . I wish he wouldnt work weekends!

Done so far-

W/m on, finished, emptied and on the line!
D/w loaded (just waiting for lunch pots)
DD and DS fed, bathed and dressed
Took dry washing off airer
Made ds bed
Wiped all kitchen surfaces
Took rubbish out from kitchen

To Do-

Make lunch
Peel veg for tea
Ironing (again!) I figure if I do a bit everyday by the time MIL comes to visit there will be none and so she cant tut at me!

Declutter bedroom- This is a job I have been putting off for ages....dont know why but I never seem to get round to it and its def the worst room in the house at moment and should be my priority.

Think I'll go for a walk later to the shop to buy chocolate and feed the ducks on the way home ( not with the chocolate obviously!)

minorbird · 28/09/2008 11:21

Hello Everyone,

I've decided to go shopping and sod the housework for now! I did a big clean yesterday, so there's not much to do but hopefully Dh will do the sprucing up in my absence!

Have a lovely sunday.

Jas · 28/09/2008 12:17

Luda - I would put the w/m in the loo if the pipes are there, and hook the outlet directly into the tiolet pan when in use for now if I were in that position.

FIL is leaving today

DP is out as his friend had a heart attck last night so he's at the hospital keeping his son company...

I finished doing this room last night, buit the lead for the broadband is not long enough to put the computer where i want it. Can I buy an exctension, or shopuld I jsut get used to it?

I can't put the fish tank up til I decide so this is a fairly urgent question as they have been in a bucket for 5 days now.

GO - thanks for your words of sympathy. I know you're often in a similar position re unpaid wages, too.
