just poppoing in to say hello to everyone been a bit of a funny weekend but the upside is the downstairs of my house is clean the downside is that upstairs is a tip

lucysmam · 28/09/2008 12:43

Afternoon everyone

Very busy here today, have done loads of sorting out in my bid to declutter us before xmas comes along. Although you wouldn't know I decluttered the kitchen the other day f you looked in the cupboards! They're full to bursting with my shopping! Am quite pleased with what I got out of £55, there's enough for at least 3 weeks now so don't have to worry about food for the mo

Am dreading decluttering bedrooms thoroughly though over the next few weeks! I haven't a clue where to actually start in them

The lo is bright as a button today, no lasting damage after her fall yesterday thank god. Still peed off that we weren't told til after she'd been checked out though

Jas maybe try Stationary Box, Wilko or Staples for an extension or even phone whoever your broadband supplier is & ask them about it. We got loads of wires with ours but didn't need them as it's wireless. How long do you need it? I could have a look through and see if we have one long enough for you? . You reminded me as well, our fish could do with some fresh water, theirs is starting to look murky

Off to shop in a mo for a wander although we don't actually need anything, just something to do for half an hour then going to strip sofa covers I think & get them in the wm

luda I think Jas's idea would work for the minute with your wm in the downstairs loo if all the other plumbing you need is there already

Mad don't forget to chill out and take time for yourself in all this running round after everyone else! Otherwise you'll end up even more knackered!

Right, coats and shoes on, bbl. Hope you're all having a fab Sunday

ludaloo · 28/09/2008 12:52

Hi

Jas, lucys good idea, but sadly the room is too long.....the pipe won't reach the loo...or the sink for that matter. We were trying to work out how, whoever had managed to have a W/M in there (I think by the connection on one of the pipes they must have)had done it. Nothing is ever simple is it!

Anyway, dh has not long phoned to say he had picked it up and was on his way home

I have had a mad clear out in our bedroom, for some reason our room is always the last one to be tidied/sorted/dusted/cleaned!
I've moved the dresser and pushed the wardrobe along to make enough room for a new washing basket to fit.
All I have left to do is the top of the wardrobe.
It was sooooooooooooooo dusty in there!!!!!! I expect the top of the wardrobe will be just as bad!

I have found all the washing out and have 7 seperate piles of washing to do I hope this washing machine can cope!!

ludaloo · 28/09/2008 12:55

cafe does your dh work every weekend? I know how you feel, my dh works a lot of weekends too (and when he isn't working he still usually has to go in for something or another)

minorbird I forgot about the housework yesterday...definately have to have a break once in a while

ludaloo · 28/09/2008 13:00

Jas ooooh noooo is dp's friend ok?
Hope your dp isn't too upset/tired.
You can buy extensions for internet connection BTW. We have one. Our origional phone socket is in the living room but the computer is in the hall.

I think This is the one we have.

grouchyoscar · 28/09/2008 13:00

Hello again

Luda I second Jas' suggestion of using the loo pan for the WM waste. In the days when we lived in a flat with no wm plumbing we used the sink and attatched pipes to the taps etc etc. Worked well.

I remember the days when my mum had a twin tub. God that was grim. Me and DB called it the 'doggy washer' !?!? A set pot and mangle makes me feel weak!

DH got worse last night, chewed a strip off me wider than the M25 for moving furniture around. Wouldn't listen to my point that the housework is just as hard and at least my endeavours have been noticed. Also complained that I fall asleep too early I was very indeed.

Well I've caught up with my weekend jobs this morning so I'm taking a bit of a break now.

To Do

Empty WM
Sort for drying
Ironing
Pack bags for morning
Make lunches
Get some school work out of ed (attrocious handwriting
Measure for shelving.

ludaloo · 28/09/2008 13:18

I was just saying to jas and lucys, sadly the room is too long for the pipes to reach the loo pan. If we moved the W/M closer, then you wouldn't be able to use the loo (and with small children....one only just out of nappies, the downstairs loo is a god send...has saved endless rushing to the upstairs loo!)
I am thinking we might be able to somehow extend it to reach the sink....hmmmmm will have a look now when dh arrives home.

You are all quite right though...would be the better option.

lucysmam · 28/09/2008 13:55

just a quick one luda we toyed with the idea of the wm in the bathroom to free up kitchen space when we had it delivered earlier this year. MIL seemed to recall having bought extension things for a wm of hers years ago so that the pipes reached from the plumbing to where she actually had the wm. I have no idea what they were called but she said they were cheap so maybe worth sending oh to B&Q to have a look for something like that (especially if he's like my oh and runs out of steam half way through a job )

TheMadHouse · 28/09/2008 14:51

Afternoon Ladies

I am back from a mamoth shopping trip for my mum, but she obviously was feeling a bit guilty and bought me a lovley pair of slippers and a cardigan and also the sunday papers we never buy them ourselves, so we will have a relaxing night reading them.

I also managed to get some real batgains from sainsburys (25% off Tu) Got shorts for DS1 for school 50p each, UV swimming suit (2.10) and a lovley little outfit for my freinds baby which is due in January 99p.

I have some ironing to do, although I did most of it with the boys this morning. Hoover up and down and dinner to prepare.

DH is sorting the garden - the compost bin is full and he is currently tying up a rose - which is fighting back He was wondering why I hadnt done it!!!!

cafebistro · 28/09/2008 15:18

Yes Ludaloo my DP works every weekend . But he likes having his day/s off during the week so he can get things done .

The walk to the shop was not a success. Decided that instead of just buying chocolate from the shop I would get super dooper 'Green and Blacks' dark chocolate and make some brownies, they would provide a chocolate fix for longer. Anyway they didnt have any large bars of it so I ended up reverting to original plan and just getting chocolate bar.

Then we went to feed the ducks and they were so scared they wouldnt come and get the bread we were throwing!

Still to do-

Chop cabbage
Make tea
Bedroom!!!!
Empty d/w

TheMadHouse · 28/09/2008 16:49

Luda In the house we rented till this one was avalable we had the drier in the bathroom nad had we been staying any loger would have moved the washer up there too.

It was the biggest room upstairs!! It had a bath in the middle, a shower and loo etc. In fact was a converted bedroom, why they converted the biggest bedroom is beyond me

Ironing is all done and put away
I have stitched three things (I hate sewing)
Dinner is cooking
Plants are a lot tidier - although we are all cold now

So dinner and baths for all and then snuggling

grouchyoscar · 28/09/2008 17:52

TMH In our pre parent days and when we were replacing the bathroom DH wanted to knock through into bedroom 2 and have a massive bathroom with the bath in the middle . As I was funding the project I said it was way too ambitious. I was having the room re floored and replastered as it was.

I've done the ironing and sorted out the wet washing. Just lunches to do really.

Ed has asked for 2 school books per week rather than one! We have loads of books he could read from but I think he wants to show off and he really likes his teacher

EHM · 28/09/2008 18:04

Hello all so sorry I am really finding it hard to keep uo with MN, FAcebook, emails & RL I'll hang my head in shame on the way out.

jas hope dp's friend is ok? Sorry to read this & also the work situation. I have everything crossed this changes soon for you.

Can't remember out else off the bath ellie & then early night for me. I decorated the living Room Yesterday & cleaned the carpets upstairs with the Rug Doctor carpet cleaner this morning.Phew!

lucysmam · 28/09/2008 18:22

luda kick up a HUGE fuss about the wm!!!

grouchy how old is Ed, if you don't mind me asking? He sounds lie quite the ladies man!

EHM sounds like a very busy weekend! Are you pleased with your decorating?

Mad fab bargain shopping. Will pop into Sainsburys next weekend, have a look at clothes now you've said there's some proper bargains to be had!

cafebistro at plain old choccy bar! Never mind

I have had a lazy ish afternooon pottering after a busy start to the day. Lo is fast asleep, oh is pumping up his bike tyres again and I'm having a beer while I play on MN for a while & have a look at some sites for some recipes to cook up this week. Am struggling to think of something to search under that doesn't bring up loads of random stuff though

Have a good evening everyone, probably be back later on if I'm bored!

lucysmam · 28/09/2008 18:23

Lucys Officially Ed is a mear 5 years old but I'm sure he's been here before and he's 5 going on 45 IYKWIM. I'm rather concerned about the Leslie Phillips nature of his behaviour towards his class teacher
