bianca Have you seen that there is now a poster on MN with the name MadameCastafiore?

Shannaratiger · 21/09/2008 03:01

Yes DS is still feeling poorly, 11:30 finaly to bed 2:20 up again and still really wheezy.

cafebistro · 21/09/2008 07:16

Good Morning...
Tiger at your lack of sleep.
Ds was up at 6am, managed to put him back to bed and he then got up at 6.30am so I had to get up then.
he's now sat here eating his breakfast like butter wouldnt melt!

Wont be doing much flying this am as friends are coming round with their DC's this morning. My plan is to get out some age specific toys, they are all younger than DS and then shut DS's bedroom door so they cant get in! Is that unreasonable? I just havent the energy today to tidy up the countless toys that will be pulled out and then abandoned. Im always left to do the tidying afterwards too, I think the mums should help really but....

So just the morning routine quickly this morning and then bedlam..wish me luck!

ludaloo · 21/09/2008 08:33

Sleepless night here too

DS was sick twice in the middle of the night. I'm having a bit of a mare too as the washing machine packed up yesterday so I'm going to have to ask a neighbour if I can possibly use theirs
[ewwwwwwwwwwww!]

He is quite bright this morning but I have a feeling that isn't the end of it.
DD1 is now petrified of catching his bug and asked if I could buy her some Danone drinks to help keep the healthy bacteria in her tummy!! (I'm always amazed at exactly how much they actually understand/remember from the tv!)

Another beautiful sunny day today (typical...no washing machine just when the weather is actually good enough to get loads done and hung out )

ludaloo · 21/09/2008 08:35

cafebistro good luck today! I'm like you, I always have people round and then end up doing the tidying after.....you'll just have to make sure you return the favour!

lucysmam · 21/09/2008 09:01

Good morning

tortoise will check out ebay later on, tbh though I think I'll have to improvise n attempt one myself as oh is dead set against it.

Jas how did you do the little train on your profile? It's so cute & I love the castle . . . very nice

Shannar & Mad sorry to hear about kids feeling unwell still, hope they're not too bad

cafebistro I don't see anything wrong with just giving them a selection of toys, it's going to be you they expect to tidy up so why not make life a bit easier on yourself!?

luda I'd do your washing if I could, have none to do myself until footy kit comes home & it's typical we'd get good weather when I haven't anything to hang on the line. Am always quite of people with washing on their llines when I've had to td mine

Well, oh is at footy . . . he's driving this morning. Lo is munching on his toast he didn't have time to eat so guess thats brekky taken care of. I have an army of pots to wash for a change & then not a lot else to do I don't think. Am waiting for Snow Buddies to download but it's taking forever. They look SO cute & my lo loves dogs so thought she would quite happily 'woof-woof- along with it since she always 'woofs' at dogs

Just out of curiosity, does anyone here drink herbal or fruit tea? I want to try something different to the million cuppas I tend to drink through the day & wondered if anyone had any recommendations?

Right, off to sort kitchen, hope you all have an enjoyable n chilled Sunday xx

BiancaCastafiore · 21/09/2008 09:16

Morning
Luda hope no-one else catches the bug x Poor you with no wm
Shanna, TMH, cafe hope you all manage to get some rest time today. Wakeful nights really get you down x
Jas great cake You're v clever!
Tort I have noticed MadameCastafiore around yes...
Lucysmam I only drink Redbush tea. It's a caffine-free tes and very nice. Mind you, I didn't like it at first but soon got used to it and now find "normal" tea difficult to drink.

We are all tired this morning. Ds is full of cold and I have a deep-set headache.
Dh is off to work.
My bro and SiL are coming by at some point this morning. Thsi afternoon my parents are taking the kids out on an outing one of the few times this has ever happened! They're only going today because there's a two-for-one offer at local attractions this weekend. Still, I'll be grateful for some peace.
I'd like to say I'll be getting on with sorting the heaps of paperwork which are breeding around the house but I suspect I'll just waste the afternoon on here/in front of the tv instead I HATE paperwork and never know what to do with it all

Bewilderbeast · 21/09/2008 09:29

Morning all

hope all are well, and are having a good weekend. Hope all the poorly little ones start to eel better today

did lots of outside the house jobs yesterday, consequently the house is still a tip

done

made list for B&Q
tackled one of my hot spots
bit of a tidy in kitchen and living room
added new tv licence payment to budget for the next six months
marked free places to go in diary for next spring (I am sad but also skint)

lots to do today, shower then B & Q are first on the list.

lucysmam · 21/09/2008 09:37

Bewilder where are these free places?

Only place I know of that's free is NRM in York which we love taking lo to . . . so funny

Jas · 21/09/2008 10:05

Free places....go through local paper and pick up all touristy booklets and scour them for free events etc.
I do this too. Library and tourist office are good places to ask.

Herb/fruit tea.....bleurgh. I live on tea When pg I go off it and drink only water for 9 months but I've tried alternatives and haven't found anything I liked. Sorry

Train cake .... Very easy. I used a pack of 3 madeira cakes and cut them to shape, tehn covered with ready roll icing and sweets

@ poorly children and no washing machin.

cafe - I would def keep kids out of ds' room and limit the mess

DP is taking the kids car booting in a bit, and I will be painting I think.

We can't agree about rearranging furniture....I want to swap rooms round and he doesn't.

Bewilderbeast · 21/09/2008 10:33

Lucysmam I joined the RHS so we get free entry to various places out of peak season.

As far as I remember Magna in Sheffield is free and the NAtional Museum of Photography, Film and Television in Bradford is free.

tortoise · 21/09/2008 12:09

Shann Poor DS. Hope he is feeling better soon.
TMH Hope your DS1 feels better soon too.
Cafe Sounds like a good plan to me. Hope you had fun!
Luda Poor DS. So many poorly DC today. (I wouldn't want to do your washing!(Emetophobe!) Bad timing for the WM to be broken. Found some 3-4 girls bits. They are on here On the last page i think!
Lucysmam Have a good day.
Bianca I hope DS isn't too poorly with his cold. Hope your head is ok soon. I have a headache too. Enjoy your child free PM. I hate paperwork as well!

Waiting for tesco delivery at the moment. Then after lunch we are tking the dog for a walk. Lovely day again today. Must put the washing out. Might get the rest of the grass cut later if i have time!

TheMadHouse · 21/09/2008 12:26

Wanrning MIL Rant.............. They have been nursing her sick brother for the last week and before that visiting him at Leeds, but it is FIL birthday and Uncle died last week, so thought we should visit. Wish we hadnt, we should have been more help, she does have the time for the children, she needs to get things done blah, blah, blah - so we left.

Changed my bed and bedding on line
Lunch done
Mince in slow cook

I am now going to pop to the £1 shop for some batteries and stuff. Just need to get out sans children and clear my head

Jas · 21/09/2008 12:54

Sometimes you just can't win TMH

I have plans to go shopping tomorrow FIL is due to arrive but never lets us know when so I'm going to leave a key with my neighbour in case he gets here while we are out.

grouchyoscar · 21/09/2008 13:13

Hello ALL

Not caught up with thread yet but a cheery Howdydoo to everyone

Been hunting for bargain priced hammer drills as DH has burned his dad's out trying to drill into the walls to put the porch shelves up.

Decided I try to get too much done on a weekend and I am now spacing my housework over the full week instead. Also going to attempt to get a part time job somewhere/anywhere doing something IYKWIM

The vet never called about the cat so I've chosen to carry on as normal. Her ear has cleared up and she isn't showing any further signs of discomfort so I'll just leave well alone. Bit annoyed by it all as we could have been down on a moggy by now.

Ed's ability to drive his mum mad steps up another gear. He is so giddy at lunchtime he may get sent home. If he is half as giddy as he was last night then I can see the point but as DH says, they'll try it on with me as I am an involved parent and if I was a mum who didn't care less they would deal with it themselves. So that makes me feel fab, if I do my best, I get no support but if I wash my hands they pull the stops out??? I've asked him to argue his point with the school himself should matters escalate further.

Well it's a nice day so I should sort the garden out before the weather gets hellishly vile for the autumn.

TMH What are people like? Do they think the world and it's associated universer rotates around them? on your behalf

TheMadHouse · 21/09/2008 14:13

Bah - Menopausal moment - went out, but left my purse at home - so window shopping only done - doh

BiancaCastafiore · 21/09/2008 14:44

TMH agh! Soooo frustrating when that happens! Hope some time out cleared your hEAD A BIT ANYWAY X (opps capslock, sorry!)

I am FED UP.
Does me not enjoying dh working weekends make me a bad unsupportive wife? I just want (and we need) some family/couple time. Things are at breaking point atm I am being made to feel like cr*p for complaining about the workload. It's not just him that suffers through working weekends, we all struggle with it. I know he has a lot on but he's out most eves till late and working 1/2 days on Sat (I worl the other half) and a full day on Sundays....I'm finding it all hard work.

My parents have only just arrived to take the kids out. The place shuts at 4 so they 're not going to be very long.

There's no way I feel like trawling through teh bits of paper everywhere now but am not sure when I'll get it done as I'm going to be working all hours for the next month too as my dad is going away and I'll be left trying to run the business, deal with the kids and be unsupportive towards dh

Sorry for the moan.

I'm going to finish off a chocolate orange I started last night and then see if I feel up to tackling the paperwork...(doubt it!)

grouchyoscar · 21/09/2008 14:53

Bianca Remember, work in 15 min chunks and take a break every 45 mins. and some paperwork is better than none at all.

and you're not being unsupportive either and fell free to hve a rant as it's what we're here for.

BiancaCastafiore · 21/09/2008 14:55

I bloody hate paperwork. I have no idea wtf to do with it all I am forever losing stuff which is important under piles of junk

Jas · 21/09/2008 14:56

Good advice ±GO

I've painted and cleaned more. DP still out. He is being very helpful atm[suspicious look]

He can't go out on his own as he is incapable of not spending money, and we really do have nothing[silver lining to money worries]

Jas · 21/09/2008 14:58

Pull it all out, and sort into piles...recycling, filing, stuff to do in the future, and urgent, then bin pile one, put two and three in boxes, and then start doing whatever is left in pile four

BiancaCastafiore · 21/09/2008 15:00

Thanks

Not sure I can face it today tbh

Just feel like sitting in a dark room for a bit.

Know I'll regret it if I don't make a start though....

Chocolate orange was yummy
