Come on it's a horrible job, is anyone going to join me for moral support?

i was considering doing mine last night, have you bought a thingy?

Seeline · 16/09/2008 13:43

I have a thingy - it's called DH

Goober · 16/09/2008 13:44

I'm with ya. Did mine with a right long soak in soapy water hot enough to kill and a bottle brush. Tis the only downside to owning the godsend that is my dishwashing friend.

isaidno · 16/09/2008 13:45

I am in denial that the dishwasher needs cleaning.

You need a 2nd dishwasher.

Then you could put the filter thingy in the dishwasher to clean it.

Would make a good entry on the 'unusual things in your dishwasher' thread.

Niecie · 16/09/2008 13:49

I had to get a man to do it last week.

I leave it to DH and he never cleans out the filter and managed to block the machine completely.

DH looked sheepish when I pointed out he cost us £44 because he doesn't do as he is told.

Clean your filters - let my experience be a lesson to you all.

Heathcliffscathy · 16/09/2008 13:52

ahem,

could you point me in the direction of this thing that i'm meant to know about cleaning?

MamaG · 16/09/2008 13:53

Tutter's got two dishwashers - both miele as well the poncetastic ponce

StealthPolarBear · 16/09/2008 13:53

Niecie...erm....
can I ask the obvious question?
Yes, what is this thing?
I have magic dishwasher powder, that as far as I can tell does nothing, is that what you mean?

OP posts:
RubberDuck · 16/09/2008 13:56

There's a filter?

StealthPolarBear · 16/09/2008 13:58

Oh dear RubberDuck
[feels pathetically superior]

SPB - Sorry, I don't understand your question

DH puts everything into the DW including ice lolly stick, bits of foil and bits of plastic to name but a few. He doesn't rinse the plates at all so any debris goes in the dishwasher. They all collect at the bottom. DW loading and unloading is his job - delegated by me and the only cleaning he does.

I tell him to clear the filter. He ignores me. Bits of rubble calcify, gunge backs up, DW stops working. The man had to come to take it apart and sort it out.

He then puts the magic powder in it to clean it up properly and tells me I must do the same.

I may have to to avoid big repair bills.

If it weren't for the fact it has just been done I may well have joined in whilst you did yours.

Not sure if that covers any questions you have as I still don't understand the question.

StealthPolarBear · 16/09/2008 14:10

yes it does
was going to do it yourself you lazy slattern but if that's his only job then yanbu

OP posts:
Niecie · 16/09/2008 14:17

Now feel hopelessly disloyal to DH. He does take the rubbish out to the bins as well.

But on the other hand he should just accept I know best.

Heathcliffscathy · 16/09/2008 14:47

OI ANSWER MY QUESTION!!! where is this thing that i'm meant to be cleaning but have never not once done?

Goober · 16/09/2008 15:55

Mine is located inside the bottom of the machine. It pulls upwards to reveal what can only be described as a filter that traps mainly grease, bits of herbs and the occaisional bit of fluff. I refer to it all as "Crap". It will be part of the draining system.
Don't break yours then say it's my fault though.

StealthPolarBear · 16/09/2008 16:17

if you have to fight it you're pulling the wrong thing

(wonder how many threads i could post that on where it would make perfect sense??)

OP posts:
sweetkitty · 16/09/2008 16:20

Mine is screaming at me I was going to be ultra lazy and get some of that Finish stuff and put it on extra hot and hope it gets rid of the crap.

Need to clean oven as well double
