DS2 is suffering with the pox. They are all over his penis and bum, he is screaming when weeing and has just nearly passaed out as he screamed so hard whilst doing a poo. It is so red, that he has had no nappy on since 3pm

I have rang the doctor for some advise. I am finding it really hard. One just over it and now the other one. I wish I could suffer the pain for him.

dylsmum1998 · 03/07/2008 16:43

oh TMH the poor little thing, no idea what you can do to help him but you have my sympathy,as if that helps!, that sounds awful for both of you

12345678910 · 03/07/2008 16:55

TheMadHouse · 03/07/2008 17:04

Painkillers only, so the soc is doing a script. I need to only give him the piriton at night as he is hyper with it.

Anyway DH is on his way home

EustaciaVye · 03/07/2008 17:05

TMH - It is awful. I found 2nd child got it much worse. Perhaps as they caught it from a relative? He will get better, just hang in there.

TheMadHouse · 03/07/2008 17:09

EV How did you manage. I am shattered and he hasnt even scabbed yet.

We are at the funeral tomorrow so MIL is having them both for a couple of hours and then at least it is the weekend.

But come Monday I will have two stir crazy boys, they are used to running around and getting rid of all their energy.

BiancaCastafiore · 03/07/2008 17:23

Hello.

Haven't read the trhead properly, I do hope to catch up later though...
TMH my ds got the pox really badly when he was about 18mths and it was at its worst all round his willy and bottom too, it was awful I completely sympathise x It will get better though, you just have to ride through it I'm afraid Baths with bicarb of soda did seem to offer some relief (short lived, but relief none-the-less)

Welcome any new FLYers

Must dash now as I seem to suddenly have a load of things which need doing NOW!
BBL x

EustaciaVye · 03/07/2008 17:28

TMH - have you got a paddling pool? Nice cool water and the distraction of playing in it may help. It is truly awful and I think I'm still tired from the episode 6 weeks on.

It WILL get better soon.

TheMadHouse · 03/07/2008 17:55

EV Not the weather for paddling pool oop north at the mo, although I will bear that in mind for the weekend. Thanks very much.

Bianca I know it will get better, it is just hard to see them suffer.

Also my mood is not best, as I am worrying about tomorrow

EustaciaVye · 03/07/2008 18:01

TMH - this kind of stuff always happens at the same time. A good tip I got from the online anxiety course is to have a 'worry time' each day. Other than that 20 mins you have to park all worries until later. Write them down and then review during your worry time. might help you get through the next few days.

I hope tomorrow isnt too difficult. And I hope your niece and her partner have the strength to get through Baby L's funeral.

Hugs for your boys too x

Hello FLYfriends and newbies

Had a crazy day today. It started at 3:30 when Ed was sobbing in pain in his room. He said he felt sickand needed to 'be with somebody' Took him downstairs to 'camp out' in front of the TV after dosing him with calpol. Got an appointment at the GP at 11 and...

Ed has mild tonsilitis...Poor kid must have thought he was swallowing razor blades He's on anti B's and I'll have to drop into the school everyday next week to give the lunchtime dose. He's fine at the moment tho which is good.

So Late start but today I have

Call school and GPs
Get me and Ed showered
Start breakfast (Maple syrup porridge [slurp])
Empty DW
Put away
Have brekkie
Tidy away
Get dressed
Dress Ed
Taxi to GP
To pharmacy
To supermarket for silly biscuits to cheer him up
To Tesco for A4 envelopes for job apps
Go to library
Post job apps at PO (I don't know the new rates and they have to be in tomorrow )
Home
Make lunch
Turn 5 builders buckets into large veg planters
Start to plant out the tomatoes
Plant out herbs
Move the plants from garden to back door (They need direct sunlight and the garden is shady)
Tidy up
Get shower with Ed (again)
Empty WM
Hang up to dry
MN time

DH is making a family tea of lasagne. I am shattered but have a busy day tomorrow. I am putting my feet up! Just have to get lunches made and his clothes out for morning (He's asked to go back to school!) He also wants to make a TQ card for neighhbour who fixed his bike.

Today's scary moment...Ed in charge of cordless drill while turning buckets into planters why did I think it was a nice idea to let him hold it even under supervision?

One day I will be sensible! (well I have stored them without the batteries in them)

Sircharlie Loving the name, that's Ed's favourite bedtime story! I think it's pretty great too.

TMH Poor DS and poor you Hope he gets well soon. I'll be thinking about you tomorrow, wishing you every strength.

Lasagne ready so I'll say Nighty night and see you tomorrow

scattyspice · 03/07/2008 20:04

Oh dear GO! I do stuff like that all the time lol.

TMH. My 2 had it last summer (while DH was away ) DS was really uncomfortable for about 2 days (I had to sleep with him, he was restless all night) then was fine. Hope you nearly over the worst.

Bianca - worry times a good idea. I usually have a bath after DCs in bed, thats my worry time (then I can chill out with DH without fretting).

Done most jobs now. Off for bath.

TheMadHouse · 03/07/2008 20:04

Ruby Dont worry about me. I was just wollowing in self pity. I feel better now. How did DH get on at interview???

I have mopped the ground floor
Cleaned all the woodwork upstairs
Got boys clothes out for tomorrow
Ironed my stuff for funeral - blue as requested
Picked up script from doctors and went to chemist
Bathed the boys
Boys are now asleep
washer on
rang orange re new contract - need to take utility bill into shop, as proof of address

Anyhoo (wiggles speak) I am off to soak in the bath and a relax

Catch you ladies tomorrow

Jas · 03/07/2008 22:09

I like the idea of having a worry time

Poor Ed. hope the ABs kick in soon for him.

TMH I also hope you are over the worst with ds2 and by next week he will be scabby and you can get out. DD1 had the spots inside too and cried alot but wouldn't tolerate water on her either. I kept giving everything I could and it didn't last too long (although I appreciate that when your child is crying and in pain it feels like forever.

Hoping you get some sleep tonight, and tomorrow goes ok.

tortoise · 03/07/2008 22:18

Evening all.
Not read thread properly am too tired!

Had a really lovely day at the farm with dd2 and preschool. Weather was pretty good all day which was good.

Then we got wet after picking the others up from school! We had to run back to Barclay's to shelter from the rain, thunder and lightning!

This evening was the Talent show at primary school and because DS's were in it i had to go! Finally home at about 9. Got them all to bed then still had to wash up. All i wanted to do was sleep. More awake now though but will get bed out soon.

Welcome newbies.
GO Two kids in DD1's class and one in DS2's class are off school with tonsillitis. Must be doing the rounds! Hope Ed is ok soon.
TMH Poor ds, must be horrible for him.

tortoise · 03/07/2008 22:47

AARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

I have just remembered i need to sew up DS's trousers that i cut into shorts for a trip tomorrow. They want them to dress as a WW2 refugee! Think i had better turn off pc and get on with it! At least i can sit in bed and eat sweets sew while watching TV

EustaciaVye · 04/07/2008 07:31

Friday

SlightlyMadSweet · 04/07/2008 14:03

Hi all.

at all the poorlies and of course TMH. I hope all goes as well as possible this afternoon.

Did no-one like my list yesterday? Well today I have added a 4th thing, look:

  1. 2 minute hotspot (am going to do bottom of stairs today)
  2. Put DD3's toys away as soon sa she has gone to bed
  3. Shine my sink
  4. Get out tomorrow's clothes.

I have a hectic afternoon...somehow I have teh following to fit in...

  1. collect DTDs from school
  2. Either go to after achool fetey thing or convince DTDs not to...
  3. Go to library to return books and try and find "the boy who cried wolf" for DTD1...
  4. Go to butchers to get something for tea
  5. Go to Tescos to get 2 birthday pressies and 2 birthday cards
  6. whilst in tesco look for some red/green hairspray for a fancy dress party on Sunday

Before all that I have some work work to do from home, so I best get on with it so I can do my hotspot before school run or it won't get done...

...tis a busy one for me...

rowingboat · 04/07/2008 21:11

Hi everyone, good evening!
TMH - I just wanted to say that poem was lovely - I was crying reading it. Sorry!
This is day 5 for me, so it is Hotspots, I have definitely got one in my kitchen where the random post gets left, and lots of paper.
In fact paper is one of my biggest bugbears, it just grows everywhere.
The negative thoughts thing yesterday, didn't go well due to being out at a children's farm thingy and then home to the folks for tea. It's not easy to write down negative thoughts when you are in a softplay or driving down the motorway.
The hotspots things sounds good, do you just write a list of hotspots and do them everyday, is that the idea?
I just want to watch TV and eat chocolate, not do hotspots with a timer.
Working tomorrow as well, so not sure what will be done other than the basics, but I still have five thousand babysteps to go, so I can always do two on Sunday.
