Thanks Guys,

Scatty - will take a look at that book.

tortoise · 02/07/2008 12:49

Scatty Yes i do send a gift in. Last year for xmas they all had book token! This year i am thinking booze! DD1's teacher saw me win some babysham at the school fete and said she loved it. She will probably think it is the one i won when i give her some! I have drank most of my bottle!

Back to the cleaning! Bianca Sounds like i need you here! lol!

Time is flying by and i haven't even started the front room.

grouchyoscar · 02/07/2008 12:53

Hello All Hope the babysteps is going well

I did the course, got depressed as it dug up some awful stuff for me, got to the end and got a certificate. I can protect a child at risk!!!!

I have been getting stuff done then...

School rang, Ed is poorly, can you collect him He's slumped in the armchair with loads of cushions, Teddy, blanket and he is fast asleep

I suppose I can put up my new shoe rack and snaffle his packed lunch.

littlemissloopy · 02/07/2008 13:04

Bianca you go girl!

I was trying to save for a holiday too LS but it all gets whittled away at....had to buy a washing machine...£20 the other day for DS and DD1's school trip...I had to buy a new hairdryer as my old one died...various bits and bobs, so I have decided I might as well get something we can all enjoy and want instead (which is much cheaper than a holiday)
Hopefully we will get to go somewhere too, but it is looking unlikely this year

Scatty I would only give the teacher a pressie at the end of term if the children are actually leaving their class to go up a year. A thank you card and a small pressie?
They have got some lovely presents for teachers in Morrisons ATM for some reason. They have mugs and balloons and things to say thank you for being a lovely teacher etc.... or what about a pot plant or something....might last a bit longer than flowers

littlemissloopy · 02/07/2008 13:07

If only there was sound to these posts....my washing machine (yes the replacement one) is making the loudest, most annoying noise ever! sounds like I have put a lawn mower in on spin by mistake!

littlemissloopy · 02/07/2008 13:09

Oh Hi GO BTW

Well done on becoming qualified, and I hope ED is better soon xx

TheMadHouse · 02/07/2008 13:14

OK Ladies

I have done:

Mission
Polished Front room, dinning room, main bedroom and DS1s bedroom
Been swimming with DS1
Put oven cleaner on oven - urg
Ordered flowers for Friday

I have loads to do so will just crack on

BiancaCastafiore · 02/07/2008 13:17

Well done Grouchy Hope Ed is better soon x

Loopy (I soooo nearly typed a name from your past life then!!) The family gift instead of a holiday sounds like a good idea We hope to come in your direction again sometime over the school holidays so maybe we could all meet on a beach somewhere? My offer to have you stay here for a few days still stands too - keep it in mind

I'm doing well with cleaning but not so much with decluttering. I'm feeling really annoyed with myself for being so cr*p at sorting out paperwork and general bits of junk which seem to breed

TheMadHouse · 02/07/2008 13:30

Ruby DH is suited every day - so have answered you thread, I even rang and got one of the trendy's to give me info for you

babyjjbaby · 02/07/2008 13:35

HELP i've hit a black spot and can't make myself go do our room....

Its the worst room in the house now (apart from spare room) I have to put clothes away - pick up dirty washing, open curtains, hoover, pick up rubbish and I can't make myself get up.

Even the promise of a hot, bubble bath and glass of wine (at 2pm ) isn't working!!

TheMadHouse · 02/07/2008 13:56

Lucky Right ehat helped me was the fly lady way of decluttering. Our spare room was piled ceiling high.

You get three boxes bin (I used a black bag), recycle (charity), keep.

You set your timer and start at the doorway and go round the room in a circle.

Once the boxes are filled or the timer goes off you empty the keep box all to its relevant place.

It really works. Just keep setting your timer for 15 mins, do it in 15 minutute chunks. every 45 mins, give yourself 14 mins off

Hope this helps

I have done the oven, but had to put more cleaner on

i cheated and drove to get ds from school. have now bunged a pizza in oven, not as good as you tmh not making our own today

BiancaCastafiore · 02/07/2008 16:44

Dyls andTMH poor you, hope the headaches clear up.
Ruby enjoy the shopping! My dh hasn't needed to look smart for work for 6 years now, I wouldn't have a clue where to start either.

Well, I went to the open afternoon at school. Lovely art displays etc on show
Ds and I had an hour to kill while dd was at an after school club so we went to the library and read some stories Got completely soaked to the skin on our return to collect dd and even wetter (if that was possible) on the journey btwn school and home!
Ds is on the computer upstairs and dd has gone to play at a nieghbours house till 5ish. Then we have to brave the rain again to go out to Brownies after supper (maybe it will have cleared by thenwishful thinking?..)
For supper we will be eating new potatoes grown in our garden

scattyspice · 02/07/2008 16:45

Dyl I had that problem last yr (posh wedding, not head injury lol) (hope you ok btw). I ended up getting skirt, top and jacket from Matalan (£30 all in) and was much complimented by posh people . Also I have worn all bits seperately since. Good luck.

I am having a meatball crisis. Home made MBs frying in the pan, outside burning, inside still pink. Any ideas?

Thanks for the teacher present advice.

BiancaCastafiore · 02/07/2008 16:51

Scatty We gave our teachers new pencil cases last year They went down v well and I see one of them uses hers at school every day

Jas I have emailed you via Facebook re TMH spreadsheets

I'm tired......

dylsmum1998 · 02/07/2008 17:13

thats what i am looking for scatty something that will be able to look good and avoid criticism, and for me to wear again. there were some lovely dresses in the window of tkmaxx. so will have a look were only £20 as well
sorry no idea about the meatballs tho

just been sat eating dinner and realised we have a meeting this evening at school for ds arethusa trip next year need to go as it explains payment options bursarys etc. i think i may need to swollow my pride and accept bursary if poss as its £250 and if i pay that we wont get family hols. but will see what other payment options there are first

scattyspice · 02/07/2008 17:35

£250. Don't give up the family holiday for Ds trip, the responsibility might be too much for him(iykwim). Try for bursary, thats what its for. TKMaxx great shop. .

Disguised the burnt meatballs in tom sauce (phew). Next time will buy sainsburys and pretend I made em .

Pencil cases Bianca - great idea. Teacher is retiring though - slippers?
