I'm sick of duvets

What the title says. I have these big double duvets that most of the family uses and a few singles. It's hard to maintain these, keep them in duvet covers, change the covers, getting a good matching cover, etc. Often they will go without a cover for days and be used just like that. I'm finally ready to replace them.

I'm thinking I want to do away with them entirely. what are my options? Can I just do 5 single duvets for everyone? Or comforters, or quilts and blankets? What does everyone do?

Yes my husband is very tall. If we stay in a hotel then we start by untucking everything. We once stayed a a relatives house, who used a top sheet as well as a duvet. The sheet was on the floor in the morning. I think the relative thought that she wouldn’t have to change the duvet cover after we left!
I too remember blankets and candle wick bedspreads. When duvets came in, it was explained that they should mould to your body and not be tucked in.

You don't need duvet covers, just get a couple of flat sheets, put one under the duvet and the other on top.

We have coverless duvets for the kids. They go straight in the wash and dry very quickly. No changing duvet covers 🙌🙌🙌

Why can’t DH change the duvet covers?

for visitors we use linen sheets and heavy cotton blankets, holey, like
lan air cel, bought after spending the night in Hospital,
finding that I was so comfortable, I bought two, one for either single bed,
dispensed with the duvets altogether
I fling them over the washing line to air them when changing the bed.
We have converted friends and family to heavy cotton blankets after staying
with us. They look good alone in summer or with a bedspread over in winter.

Anyone have a superking cover less duvet? If so does it fit in a normal household washing machine or do you have to take it to a laundrette?

I do. I take it to the laundrette. I loathe changing duvet covers. Seriously thinking of changing my washing machine to a giant capacity one so I can wash my coverless duvets all at home. Currently the king and superking 10.5 tog need to go to the laundrette.

Switch to single ones. We did years ago it's so much easier and more comfortable too
