How do others deal with urine stains around the toilet?

I am having trouble removing regular urine stains from DH around the toilet. It is becoming a bone of contention between us and ends up with raised voices when we discuss it. He tried aiming better and sitting down but the problem was just as bad.

On a daily basis there are orange stains down the front of the toilet and on the sides of the floor. These clear up easily with bleach spray but the silicon sealant does not. I see the marks every time I go in and I am embarrassed for others to use the toilet when they visit, I make them go downstairs.

The rows between DH and me is over why can’t it get less of a problem and why doesn’t he clean it more often? He says he wipes it up.

I am thinking of replacing the white sealant with black.

in the 70s we had grim smelly toilet maps. Should we get two of these mats and wash them regularly? I hate them though.

How do you deal with this? What should I do?

I think I read that bleach was detrimental. I’ve used a paste made from baking soda and water, and that worked well for stains underneath the toilet seat. Google would help
you!

Live on your own.

He is a grown adult not a 3 year old.

Exactly, he’s the age you get a number of conditions causing stricture of the urethra.

He is also the age where he can observe his own toileting fgs. oOP doesn’t not need to bloody ‘watch’ him piss. Given the fact he gives zero fucks about the cleaning of it I’m willing to be he doesn’t have a medical issue he is just a manky bastard.

Use his favourite clothes/shoes as a toilet mat. I wonder if he would still be so careless then?

He’s also the age where he is capable of either not peeing on the floor or cleaning up after himself if he does. I am horrified that anyone thinks it’s a woman’s job to routinely mop up a man’s pee!

Ewwwww I could never be attracted to a man that pathetic and disgusting. Show him this thread.

BernardButlersBra · 15/05/2026 10:42

As others have said then my husband would be sorting the stains and learning to wee in the toilet. Those toilet mats are vile and it sounds like you would be washing it anyway rather than him

Jk987 · 15/05/2026 10:44

Eww it’s not your job!

Theolittle · 15/05/2026 10:47

Lots of decent men sit down to wee to avoid this issue.

I have resolved some historic yellow staining of the white loo seat underside with cif and a sponge scourer

Riapia · 15/05/2026 10:53

Once you find the cause of the problem eliminate it.
Or them.
Whichever.

Tryingtobenormal124 · 15/05/2026 11:10

Cheap shaving foam spayed on floor and moped up. Use a spayed cleaner on the silicon that lifts mould.

Show hubby how to do it. Guests should not need to use upstairs loo. Ban hubby from downstairs.

Incontinence, doesn’t realise he’s peeing on the floor as he can’t see it as big belly gets in the way, or doesn’t show up unless the light is on, and I bet he’s in a rush when he pees. Definitely needs re toilet training!

He does know. They have discussed it. He just doesn’t care. It’s not down to anyone to train a grown adult. You can’t train disrespect out of someone anyway.
