Decluttering Thread 13 - Hopefully Lucky For Some!

Good morning fellow sorters, chuckers & sellers! Starting a new thread as No 12 was almost full. This thread is one of my favourites & I find it hugely inspiring. I have a very long way to go as my house still resembles a jumble sale but I have got rid of a lot over the last few months plus made some money into the bargain. Last night I transferred several carrier bags of clothes that are on Vinted into a pink velvet storage chest that, ironically, hadn’t been assembled & was taking up space in DH’s office 🤣🤣🤣 It’s now in front of the storage cubes in the lounge & honestly, the pleasure I get from seeing it & the space created is immense.
I need a day to dedicate to Vinted as I have bags of clothes still to photograph & upload, some clothes to try on which may end up on there too & some TJC rings to photograph for selling. They were quite expensive but I rarely wore them & now they’re too big. I have a huge car bill to pay so the extra pennies will be great. Have a productive day all!

Jealous of your kerbside collection Yank. Round here the various charities put the bags through the door then never collect them. So annoying.

I plan on clearing out my under stairs cupboard this weekend 👍

It's been a while! Haven't managed to do housework for a couple of weeks so the decluttering was definitely on the back burner. I've made a start today at least. Tidied and cleaned Dds room and decluttered 3 of her drawers

Sold a Back to the Future game on Vinted for £2.50 ( bargain but it only cost me £3). I’ve actually managed to sort out some soft toys to be collected for a local school on Monday. Photographed another heap of stuff to upload on Vinted & had some items favourited straight away. Tomorrow I’m photographing most of a big bag of plus size clothes ready to upload. DD reckons bigger sizes won’t sell but I would have thought they might even sell better. Cost me a fiver so will easily make a profit.

Sold an F & F gold sequinned cami on Vinted. Cleared the rubbish out of my car.

Went through a pile of four plastic tubs and two amazon boxes all containing "stationery" overflowed from creating a dedicated stationery cupboard a few years ago. Realised that most of it now fitted into the cupboard after a bit of tidying but also decluttered half a bin bag of actual rubbish (including binning an entire shoebox of very misc felt tips from the past 20 years and replacing them by buying one single new pack for the cupboard) and assembled three bags of duplicate/children's things to now pass on via marketplace to someone with a kid or community group.

Chucked a pair of hiking sandals as one had split. Few more bits put on Vinted but pretty rubbish number of views/favourites so far.

I have again tried to list some of dd clothes on Vinted but still not getting views. 3 school skirts for £3. I dint think dropping the price is worth the hassle of trying to sell?

Bought a boxed dash cam from my friend who fundraises for MS but DH says it’s quite an old one so probably wouldn’t sell on Vinted. I’ll donate it back to her along with some CDs which an ex work colleague gave me ages ago & a couple of pairs of DD17’s jeans. Once I’ve been to H Samuel’s & got them to untangle 2 bagfuls of jewellery, I will see what I want to keep & upload the rest on Vinted.

Sold a bundle of 4 kids books,as well as a really nice top which just didn't suit me color-wise. Also out a cuticle balm which I just didn't use, and broken loo roll holder

One bag for life full of children’s books. Also similar bag packed with kids’ jigsaws. Both bags went to DD who is much better at finding suitable charity shops for stuff.

I cleared off one entire shelf of books with too-small font. Not quite ready to see them go, but no-one else shares my taste. They’re all available on audio form. Just need to pluck up courage to dispose of something that was part of my identity for half a century.

Another bag of home wares like little vases and plates to Charity Shop, not worth selling on Vinted, as will need more bubble wrap than they are worth.
My Vinted is so slow, so have deleted nearly all my books and dropped to Tesco charity bookcase.
I need to go through the two larder type units I have in dining room, but I’m scared to start. Will look like a bomb site and I’m worried about losing momentum 🫣

We had to replace our microwave yesterday & I put all the various boxes of foil, greaseproof paper etc that were ontop of the old one away in a cupboard. It makes such a difference to the look of the kitchen. Chucked the contents of a couple of cans that were out of date. Decided to upload a Paddington tin mug on Vinted. Love Paddington but it’s a camping mug with a metal rim & 1) I never go camping & 2) I don’t like the feel of a metal rim. It was an impulse buy from a motorway services.

Spent yesterday clearing stuff that was in the garden during building repairs back to their rightful storage place down the side of house. Found a few things that should have gone in the skip so am booking a tip visit today.

spending a timed half in the garage every day with a view to it being pretty much re arranged in a months time as don’t have a day I can commit to it.

on track to be sorted by august hopefully. One year later than intended. Finally feeling I’m getting there.

DH has said he will do a tip run soon

Sold a couple of items yesterday...

An outdoor mirror and an unused tub of heatproof adhesive.

Listed a few more decorative bits too.

Sorted stuff for the skip/rubbish clearance which is mostly too large/heavy to take to the tip, eg the 9' wide radiator we removed from the kitchen at the weekend!

Deleting loads of E Mails. Uploaded a pendant on Vinted as it looked a totally different colour when I received it.

DD17 brought down 3 big bags of rubbish from her room, including a bin bag. DH & I praised her as this is massive for her but at some point, we need to ask that in future she tries to sort stuff into various recycling bags where appropriate & also to please avoid chucking old chewing gum & used tampons in with everything else 🤮

Out, 5 tops to charity shop; a kids' whistle, an oil spray, 2 random plastic brackets, freebie travel pouch

Ins= a pair of shorts for me (Vinted impulse purchase!!) and 2 books for DC from charity shop

I'm slightly astonished I have brought in 182 items this year! it's insane
