Good morning fellow sorters, chuckers & sellers! Starting a new thread as No 12 was almost full. This thread is one of my favourites & I find it hugely inspiring. I have a very long way to go as my house still resembles a jumble sale but I have got rid of a lot over the last few months plus made some money into the bargain. Last night I transferred several carrier bags of clothes that are on Vinted into a pink velvet storage chest that, ironically, hadn’t been assembled & was taking up space in DH’s office 🤣🤣🤣 It’s now in front of the storage cubes in the lounge & honestly, the pleasure I get from seeing it & the space created is immense.
I need a day to dedicate to Vinted as I have bags of clothes still to photograph & upload, some clothes to try on which may end up on there too & some TJC rings to photograph for selling. They were quite expensive but I rarely wore them & now they’re too big. I have a huge car bill to pay so the extra pennies will be great. Have a productive day all!

I have got rid of more of ds clothes. Really need dd to look again at her summer clothes. However, both of them hate trying things on. So behind on clearing out the toys. Really need space for eldest boxes to live when he comes back from uni.

Kitchen cupboards emptied and tidied, all the surplus taken to the chaity shop. I keep opening the cupboard doors now to admire it. Pic of excess attached.
Large empty underbed storage box found in the garage so now piles of stuff that was on the floor is neatly stored away.
Am psyching myself up to tackle my underwear drawers. I am sure I own bras from pre DH and we have been together for 19 years.....

Had cause to go into the paperwork and whilst there decluttered -
9 x plastic sleeves
17 x documents
1 x worn out ring binder
Total is 4800

Hippywannabe · 29/05/2026 22:28

More went out this afternoon, a small bag of underwear plus I caught up with some journalling that has been waiting- souvenir things stuck into journal 1, gratitude journal written in, and 2 slimming World magazines read and articles/recipes clipped and stuck into Slimming book and the rest binned.

Just sold a pair of diamante Skecher wedges for £20 on Vinted - they cost me £2 in the charity shop! Also added a few bits to the charity shop bag & will donate all the bags in my boot later today.

This week our new pull-out kitchen bins arrived! Our cottage was purchased as a renovation project 20 months ago and we're in the process of relocating the kitchen to a different room. Our 'new' cabinets were an eBay find for less than £500, but I wanted the bins hidden away as they were in the kitchen we'd fitted in the house we sold 😉

Hence the new ones - and as a result our John Lewis, freestanding three compartment bin was surplus to requirements. Less than two years old and absolutely pristine. Sold £20 😁

Also out - a pair of brand new ASOS boots DH bought in a charity shop to wear to a gig but changed his mind. Sold £25.

Some old carpet to the tip.

Finally, went through the larder and found a few out of date food items which went into the new food waste caddy.

However, today DH is at a car boot sale (not selling this time), so I'm silently dreading what will come home with him!

DVDs to charity - was going to put them on Vinted but not sure how well they’d do. I have a depressing amount of stuff on there that just isn’t shifting.

It's always hard to tell with DVDs/CDs etc. DH listed a job lot of DVDs on marketplace a while back (probably around 60) and they sold for £40. The CDs he's got on there haven't shifted.

More things out yesterday while packing for a weekend away. Ds is growing so fast.

I have given up trying to sell on Vinted. Put dd Nikes up four time from £2 -£4 and only had max five views for trainers that was pristine. All in the charity bag now

Pigtailsandall · 30/05/2026 11:57

I've had a lot of stuff come in which I'm sad about. Some was needed, but even still. I went to Primark for some basics and probably ended up with a few too many things but many came in multipacks. I've had a few things out too, but it is slow going and my ins are catching up with outs - I really need to go through the loft too but it's so hot in there at the moment.

Ins:
10 pairs of pants for DC (needed - and I'll need to go through old ones which don't fit)
5 vest tops (also needed for hot weather - we had none)
2 kids t-shirts
kids sandals (v. much needed)
2 short pyjama bottoms for DH (he had none)
linen shirt for DH
pyjama shorts for me (I only had one pair)
plimsolls for me (not really needed)
stickerbook for DC (half term entertainment)
6 books for DC (a set of books, second-hand given from a friend)

Outs:
craft set, completed and then recycled
2 cat toys
old cheque book
one novel
plastic folder
box of chalk used up
15 academic papers I found at the back of the cupboard. I had notes all over them for my thesis but they are out of date research now and realistically it gives me slight PTSD to see them!

What I need to do next is cull the DC socks and underwear, books we have not liked or have outgrown as there were some hit and miss buys (Almost all second hand, though, and cheap so not a huge loss).

Total ins= 161
Total outs= 412

Making really good inroads! I was even uploading clothes & books onto Vinted at nearly 1am! The lounge still has bags & piles of jewellery etc but it’s so much better than it was. I’m in bed now & happy to be looking at my stool which has a lot less on it. I’ve had a quick sort through the bags for life in front of the wardrobe & am gradually building up to taking some more of my soft toys to the charity shop. Figure if they are being stored in bags then there’s no point keeping them, although I can’t “ bear” to part with the ones that I have a deep emotional connection to eg a little teddy with a shamrock that I bought on our honeymoon in Ireland.
I always struggle to keep the kitchen table relatively clear as I like to sit at one end, looking out at the bunnies, and tend to have a lot of stuff on display. That might be my task for today as I’ve been meaning to change the cloth (the Temu one that’s on is a little too small).

Yesterday I swapped my collection of 23 Art Nouveau pots which were on top of the snug book shelves, with the books on a Georgian bookshelf in our TV room.

This had the knock on effect of having to sort through many of our books and reorganise them by category. During the process I found that DH had two copies of two books and three (!!!) of another! These went in the charity shop bag, along with a further 20 books we no longer want (we still have 800+ as we both love books).

Also out - a few packets of out of date biscuits/crisps and a flan case I'd packed away and forgotten to use whilst we were relocating the kitchen as part of our ongoing renovation, plus a bag of stripped wallpaper from the landing.

Oops didn’t do the kitchen table. However, I have sold a Take That Circus tour t shirt on Vinted (I’m going to see them but this was the wrong size that was sent from Shein). Need to photograph the Ted Lapidus handbag I got from the charity shop & upload that too. Still have to transfer some more brooches into my 2nd display case.

The skip is almost full. Oh sooooooo satisfying. I need to arrange for its collection but I keep wandering round the house looking for things to throw in it.

i cant put in an old TV so I still need a tip run but by Friday I should be able to sort all of DH’s tools into small labelled crates in the shed for ease of finding tools for jobs. Feeling happy that I’ve mastered his drill and fixed a couple of things recently.

LibertyLily · 02/06/2026 14:02

We also need to arrange a skip @Hasthisreallyhappened as some of the crap we've removed during the latest phase of renovations is just too big to fit in the car to take to the tip.

On the subject of which, DH took some copper pipe etc to the scrap metal place and was delighted to receive £388 for it! It's cleared a space in the garden too.
