Does anybody have a kettle and toaster and are they worth the money please? I have a kettle and toaster in the lite range in my basket in the most beautiful green but still hovering over the buy button.

The appeal of them being able to be repaired is strong. Do I buy or not??

Our dualit toaster has soldiered on for 20+ years and been brilliant but I have no idea if they are still as reliable.

OldPosterNewName2025 · 29/11/2025 09:28

Duolit toaster here too. It’s 21 years old and still going strong.

BishyBarnyBee · 29/11/2025 09:29

We have had both for a long time and like them. We did eventually have to have the kettle repaired and it wasn't cheap but very straightforward. We could have bought a cheap kettle for less but, like you, are trying to move away from buy cheap, throw away and replace.
If you can afford them, I'd say you are getting what you pay for.

Flamingmentalcats · 29/11/2025 09:40

Thanks all. Do I go for the lovely green which will match my mixer, or go chrome which will be timeless? By the time I make a decision, they will be out of stock 😂

You've got it for life so chrome obviously a safer option and looks good with anything. But sometimes the heart wants what it wants!

schoolfriend · 29/11/2025 10:21

We have them and they are great (although frankly I am sure a cheaper option would have performed equally well). We like the way they look and the fact that they are manufactured in the UK.

It's one of those things I have always wanted but never felt able to justify - I would definitely go for chrome.

OldPosterNewName2025 · 30/11/2025 15:23

Chrome!

OldPosterNewName2025 · 30/11/2025 15:24

The kitchen worktops and flooring which we had at the same time look dated now but the chrome toaster remains classy!!

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 30/11/2025 15:28

Had both for 15 years and they’re still going strong.

DeafLeppard · 30/11/2025 15:29

We have both but they are still less than 5 years old so can’t comment on durability. I would say that my uni halls only used Duralit toasters as they were indestructible and if by some freak they failed, the caretaker could mend them.

i bought ours from the Dualit website as reboxed returns and saved loads. Came with a good guarantee as well.

Boriswentcamping · 30/11/2025 22:26

I had a dualit kettle and toaster. The kettle was good and is still going strong - The toaster was awful - it made either warm bread or burnt toast. It broke last week after only a couple of years and I replaced it with a John Lewis own brand. It was half the price and is a much better toaster. Annoying as it doesn’t match the kettle but couldn’t bring myself to buy another dualit one

Ohpleeeease · 30/11/2025 22:36

I’m on my second Dualit, the classic chrome four slot version. I love them and they last years but they don’t stay beautiful for all of that time. The ends of mine dulled quite quickly. Also, the repairs are pricey. Ours needed new elements after years of heavy use. Just to buy the elements and repair it ourselves was over £50. Double that if Dualit did it. Didn’t stop me from buying a new one though!

PeopleTheyAintNoGood · 30/11/2025 23:13

I really like my dualit chrome toaster. Especially with the bagel setting. Is it really worth the price? I don't know, but I would buy again!
I decided against the kettle though, as we go through so many. I found a really good copy to try and think if that stops working, I will get a dualit next.

Beamur · 30/11/2025 23:17

I bought a cheap dualit toaster about 15 years ago and still working perfectly. When it finally packs up I have my MIL really old Dualit on standby

patooties · 30/11/2025 23:26

I’ve got both - the toaster has stopped popping up fully on one side. I ought to get it fixed. They look great tho’

MedusasHead · 30/11/2025 23:37

I After spending £30 every few years to replace crappy toasters that broke or couldn’t come apart to be fixed I bought a classic 3 slot toaster secondhand for £40.

5 years on, two of the elements have just gone and I’ve just bought the replacement parts for £20. I’d much rather have a workhorse that I know will last and can be repaired than throwing away cheap plastic units that end up in landfill. Plus it’s a design classic and the metal can be cleaned with wire wool and Brasso to bring it back to life. For me, it’s totally worth it.

Same with my toaster, doesn’t toast evenly, parts of the bread are warm and other parts are burnt, during toasting I have to keep flipping the bread to get it somewhat even, be easier to use a grill, it’s going in the bin.

LemaxObsessive · 01/12/2025 01:30

I managed to find a lovely Dualit 4 slice toaster in TK Maxx for £70 and it’s solid as a rock. Pretty sure and very hopeful, that it will last a very long time.

There’s a ‘Bagel’ button that is easy to press accidentally which makes it only toast one side! Check your manual

Chrome toaster and kettle here. Love them. They were wedding presents

Flamingmentalcats · 01/12/2025 07:00

Thanks for all your replies. Still haven't pressed buy yet lol. Sounds like it might be worth it.

They are brilliant, I really like the fact they are made in the uk and actually assembled by a man with a screwdriver, not an endless line of machines!

KentishMama · 01/12/2025 07:27

We have both the kettle and toaster, and have had them for about ten years. I love the idea that you can repair them... But they're so solid I can't imagine that they'll ever break...

I treated myself to cream toaster and cream dome kettle when I had my kitchen renovated
Dualit toaster still going strong went through two dome kettles both cream replaced with a dome cream kettle non Dualit , because I cannot get the cream dome kettle anymore so if any of you wise posters come across it I’d be grateful if you’d let me know, thanks
